Kate + Joe described their wedding day as a “black tie summer wedding on the water” — and it turned out to be absolutely picture perfect! They chose the Boston Harbor Hotel as their wedding venue, with the elegant Wharf Room for dinner and dancing, and lots of spots for harbor-side photos it was the perfect place for their formal summer wedding.
Kate and her bridesmaids started the morning at her family house in Wellesley, relaxing and getting dressed and ready for the big day. After the final touches of hair and makeup, Kate’s mom and sister helped her into her gorgeous strapless wedding gown and we headed off to the church. The traditional Catholic wedding ceremony took place at the nearby St. John’s Church in Wellesley, and finished with the happy newlyweds exiting the church to a sea of guests blowing bubbles! Kate and Joe greeted their guests in a traditional receiving line before their friends and family traveled to the Boston Harbor Hotel to begin the party. We stayed at the church with the bride, groom, and their wedding party for some great formal shots outside, as well as some traditional bride and groom car shots in their beautiful white 1937 Packard before making the trip back to Boston.
Before heading inside to the reception, we took advantage of the Boston Harbor Hotel’s beautiful harbor-side view and iconic Rotunda for some formal wedding photography with the bridal party right on the water. Afterward, we brought Kate and Joe inside the Wharf Room before guests came in for a sneak peek of their gorgeous elegant wedding reception! The decor was colorful, summery, and classic — with shades of blue, white, ivory, green, and yellow. White roses, orchids, and calla lilies were mixed with pops of bright purple and green in the stunning floral centerpieces from Lotus Designs, and soft candlelight on each table gave the room a warm and intimate glow. Each towering floral arrangement was displayed in a sleek crystal vase, and surrounded by smaller arrangements on all sides to really fill the tables with color.
The party kicked off with a traditional first dance, cake cutting, beautiful toasts from friends and family, and parent dances with the bride and groom. Once the dance floor was open, guests kicked off their heels and put on colorful flip flops to dance the night away! Before the evening came to a close, we took Kate and Joe back outside for some beautiful nighttime shots overlooking the harbor with the incredible moonlight and city lights behind them.
