The Omni Parker House is one of Boston’s most famous and historic wedding venues — located in the heart of Downtown Boston, it’s the perfect spot for couples looking for that “classic Boston” wedding. Emily + Chris found that the Omni Parker House was the perfect venue for their Autumn wedding in Boston, and they added lots of personalized details to give it a twist of their own.

Emily + Chris described their wedding as “a modern take on Old School Boston, classic and elegant elements mixed with a really fun, laid back crowd looking to celebrate a great moment with us and our families!“.

The bride paid homage to her own family history as she got ready for the day in the Omni Parker House’s bridal suite. A pendant from her grandmother hung on her floral bouquet, and her wedding jewelry were heirlooms passed down through generations of her family. Emily + Chris decided not to see each other before the wedding ceremony, so as soon as the bride and her attendants were ready to go we hopped in a limo to St. Ignatius Church at Boston College — where Emily + Chris both attended college.

As guests arrived at the Church they were greeted by a traditional Irish piper welcoming them into the ceremony, and a set of customized moss initials hung from the Church door for Emily + Chris’ special day. Following the ceremony and family photos at the church, we headed out on the BC campus with the couple and wedding party. The couple even had a special request for some photos in the Boston College laundry room of the dorm where Emily and Chris met for the first time years ago.

We loved the special twist the bride and groom gave to their grand entrance into the evening reception in the Omni Parker House Rooftop Ballroom. As all of the guests circled the dance floor and the newlywed’s were announced, Chris (singer in a band) pulled a microphone out of his pocket and serenaded his new bride to “You Make My Dreams Come True” — the guests had no idea! Later in the evening, Chris performed another song on stage with the band accompanied by his sister, brother, and father. Emily + Chris decided not to have a formal cake cutting, but kept that traditional Old School Boston feeling with the Omni Parker House’s signature Boston Creme Pie for dessert. After dinner and dancing, a station of apple cider and cider donuts from the Cold Hollow Cider Mill in Waterbury, VT (near where the bride grew up) was set up for a late night snack.

This wedding was a perfect mix of a traditional Boston wedding and a fun, modern party. Thank you to the team at Omni Parker House for such a great event, and congratulations Emily + Chris!
