When Julia and Jon were looking for their dream wedding venue, they quickly knew it had to be the Boston Public Library. This Boston-based couple fell in love with all of the gorgeous and unique spaces the BPL provides, and they made good use of each and every one of them at their beautiful Boston Public Library summer wedding.
Both the bride and groom utilized nearby hotels for their morning preparations — Julia and her bridesmaids got ready at the Fairmont Copley Plaza while Jon and his groomsmen spent the morning at the Westin Copley. The couple had their first look in Copley Square, right outside of the Fairmont. It was a quick walk across the street to arrive at the Boston Public Library, where we captured some formal photos with Julia, Jon and their bridal party on the BPL’s beautiful front steps. Even their dog Ellie joined in for some formals, wearing a floral garland around her neck in honor of the big day!
We moved inside with the wedding party for more photographs throughout the Library — the marble lobby, main staircase, and balconies above the courtyard were all perfect spots for photos. The wedding ceremony took place outside in the Boston Public Library courtyard, Julia and Jon said their “I do”s with one of Julia’s brothers serving as officiant. Following the ceremony guests enjoyed cocktail hour in both the outdoor courtyard and the indoor Courtyard Cafe, then it was into Bates Hall for dinner.
The couple chose colors of green and white for their reception, with elegant white table runners and lush green and white bouquets covering the dining tables and lining the walkways. A touch of colorful uplighting accentuated the gorgeous vaulted ceilings of Bates Hall and the iconic green reading lamps perfectly complemented all the summer greenery in the venue. When it was time for dancing, guests moved into the Abbey Room next door which was lit in colors of bright pink and purple for a night of fun and celebration.
