Destination Winter Wedding in Portland, Maine

May 1, 2020

With all that is going on in the world, I could not be happier that I had the opportunity to do this wedding before things began to shut down. These last several weeks, I am often finding myself looking back at these photos and smiling. This wedding is a perfect reminder that we will all get through this together and be celebrating together again soon. Wishes of good health and love to all.

There is no bigger form of flattery than being asked by my own peers in the Boston wedding industry to photograph their wedding. I was honored when longtime colleague, Kasie (Co-owner and event planner at EFD Creative) asked me to photograph her destination winter wedding for her and Bryan. The leap-day weekend celebration took place in Portland, Maine and was full of love, laughter and fun!

In Kasie’s words – “Our vision for the wedding was clear from the beginning… All we wanted was for it to be FUN!

Our plans started with the venue, an old Methodist Church that’s on the National Registry of Historic Places. In 2009 it was purchased by Trine Events and renovated into the interesting space that it is today! The high steeple ceiling, authentic stained glass windows and oversized bar set in the middle of the room inspired so much of the design (including the colored glass floral containers brought in by Jeri Solomon Floral Design).

All of the décor was absolutely stunning! PEAK’s sparkly blue cocktail linen, Keri’s vibrant flowers and Chris’ shining lights truly set the stage for a high energy party led by our favorite band, Night Shift Entertainment!

The celebration was full of life, love and unique details that we carefully created to represent us. Everything from the dog friendly ceremony to the late-night Mickey D’s reflected our fun-loving relationship and it was perfect!”

A big thank you to Kasie and Bryan for being an absolute joy to work (even outside on a cold winter day)! Also a big shout out to Brady (the couple’s adorable bull dog) for being a perfect subject during the formals and the wedding ceremony.

Lovely photos! I really enjoy when couples involve their pets as a part of the ceremony.
