With its half-mile sweeping lawn and architecturally impressive Great House, it’s easy to see why Maria + Alex chose to have their wedding at the Crane Estate, in Ipswich, MA. We love this gorgeous venue and were more than happy to drive out to Castle Hill once again to capture this wonderful celebration.

We had spent the morning with Maria + Alex as they prepared for the day. The couple chose not to see each other before the ceremony, making for a sweet moment when they finally did. In a beautiful, sweeping lace gown by Hayley Paige, Maria was stunning, and the ceremony that followed was moving and sweet. The outdoor ceremony was set up on the Crane Estate’s half-mile manicured lawn, with white garden chairs and beautiful white and green floral arrangement over looking the sea.

Following the “I do”s and big kiss, the wedding party and family members headed to the “casino” for formal photographs. These little Italian-style villas were a wonderful setting for the portraits. Following cocktail hour, the wedding guests were moved into the tent, beautifully designed by The Catered Affair with gorgeous florals from Consider the Lilies!

We love that Maria changed into a more party-friendly dress to kick off the dancing following dinner. We were so happy to be able to capture this important day for Maria + Alex, congratulations to the happy couple!

Even though Kim and Tommy are both from New York City, they wanted their destination wedding in Newport to be quintessentially “New England”. Their Newport wedding was classic, elegant, and romantic, and had some fun nautical details perfect for this seaside location.

All of the day’s events took place at the Castle Hill Inn, which is located right on the Newport, RI seashore. Kim and Tommy mixed classic colors of navy blue and white with fun pops of pink and coral for a really unique spring color palette. Before gathering friends and family for formal photos on the waterfront, we took the bride and groom (and their dog Watson) to the Castle Hill Lighthouse for their first look. While we captured formal photos of Kim, Tommy, and the rest of their bridal party, the arriving guests enjoyed a rustic hot cider and lemonade stand, and complementary pink pashminas to fend off the ocean breeze. The early evening ceremony took place on the waterfront underneath a gorgeous pink and white floral arbor, overlooking the beautiful Newport, RI seaside.

Cocktails were set up out on the lawn with navy and white patterned linens topped with bright pink floral arrangements, while the finishing touches were being put on the Castle Hill Inn tent for the reception. The tent space was filled with a mix of round and long dining tables topped with bright and lush colorful spring flowers in shades of coral, pink, and white. The cool steel gray linens were accented with bright coral napkins on each place setting, and rows of white votive candles were integrated into each of the table’s centerpieces. Following the first dance, parent dances, and toasts, the party really started to kick off! Guests enjoyed a treasure chest full of fun pirate and nautical props — from parrots and eye-patches to sailor’s hats and plush shark hats — and tapped into their inner “seafarer” while they danced the night away.

Special thanks to Stephanie Frazier Grimm and her team at Coture Parties for such a wonderful event, and to the entire team at the Castle Hill Inn! Congratulations Kim and Tommy, and thank you for including us in your beautiful Newport, RI wedding day.

We loved this classic, elegant summer wedding at the beautiful Crane Estate in Ipswich, MA. The couple chose a small and intimate gathering of close family and friends, and clean simple colors for their late summer wedding celebration.

Merideth + Doug began their day getting ready inside the rooms of the Crane Estate’s stunning Great House. The bride got some help getting into her wedding dress by her mother and sister. Her dress was accented by a white bouquet filled with light roses and soft peonies.

She brought lots of different necklaces to try on with the dress — including a red choker that had been in her family for over 100 years and a string of white pearls — before deciding on a simple silver chain with a diamond.

As soon as she was ready, we headed to the beautiful Italian Gardens right outside the Great House for the traditional first look with her husband-to-be! We took the happy bride and groom around the gardens and Crane Estate grounds for some fun and romantic pictures before the ceremony. Even with a little bit of drizzle, the bride and groom remained smiling.Crane Estate Castle Hill Wedding MD 04Crane Estate Castle Hill Wedding MD 05Crane Estate Castle Hill Wedding MD 06Crane Estate Castle Hill Wedding MD 07Crane Estate Castle Hill Wedding MD 08Crane Estate Castle Hill Wedding MD 09Crane Estate Castle Hill Wedding MD 10Crane Estate Castle Hill Wedding MD 11

The outdoor wedding ceremony was set up on the Crane Estate’s sweeping half-mile manicured lawn, with white garden chairs and two beautiful white and green floral arrangements on either side of the altar. Following the “I do”s and big kiss, we kept Merideth + Doug outside on the lawn for some formal shots with close friends and family before joining the rest of the guests at cocktail hour.Crane Estate Castle Hill Wedding MD 12Crane Estate Castle Hill Wedding MD 13Crane Estate Castle Hill Wedding MD 14Crane Estate Castle Hill Wedding MD 15Crane Estate Castle Hill Wedding MD 16Crane Estate Castle Hill Wedding MD 17Crane Estate Castle Hill Wedding MD 18

The dinner reception took place inside the Great House’s Gallery, which was the perfect size for the couple’s small and intimate group of guests. The classic white linens were paired with black ballroom chairs, and each tabletop featured a summery arrangement of white flowers in square crystal vases. A playroom full of toys and games was set up nearby for the kids, while adults enjoyed dinner, dancing, and wedding toasts from family and friends of the bride and groom. The evening had a wonderful atmosphere of warmth and togetherness, as everyone was so happy to be in the presence of such a loving couple on their beautiful wedding day!Crane Estate Castle Hill Wedding MD 19

We loved the way Shannon and Marc tied in so many personal details, and still made their evening traditional and elegant at their beautiful summer Ipswich wedding at The Crane Estate. Their outdoor summer wedding incorporated classic colors of black and white throughout the decor, and included their love of books, reading, and particularly their favorite book — The Never Ending Story.

Shannon and her bridal party started the day at her mother’s home on the North Shore, with hair, makeup, and all the dresses for the day. Shannon’s strapless white wedding gown was paired with a cute pair of black heels, to match her bridesmaid’s adorable black dresses. Her beautiful bouquet of white calla lilies was accented with black fabric and pinned with small white pearls. We headed out to The Crane Estate on Castle Hill to meet up with Marc and the groomsmen, and the bride and groom had their first look in the beautiful gardens on the property.

We took some time with the bride, groom, and bridal party to get some formal shots all over The Crane Estate’s stunning property, before the outdoor ceremony on the Great Lawn. Shannon and Marc said their I dos under a beautiful white pillared altar, covered in soft green and white summer flowers designed by florist William Mizuta. Cocktails were set up outside on the patio, and an exquisite wooden library reference card cabinet served as the escort table inside the Great House. Shannon and Marc shared the same favorite book growing up — The Never Ending Story — and their love of books and reading was evident in their wedding. Guests could find their name and table number in the alphabetized reference card drawers, and beautiful decorative accents were carved out of the pages of books throughout the decor. A huge open book showing The Never Ending Story’s opening page was even displayed in The Great House, with elegant silver page decorations perfect for a wedding.

The outdoor tented reception was stunning and elegant, with towering white flower arrangements of roses and orchids on each table, and sheer white fabric covering the chairs. The table numbers were printed on actual pages from The Never Ending Story, and the symbol of two intertwined serpents from the book was printed on each menu card. After enjoying dinner, toasts, and some dancing outside in the tent — the happy newlyweds and their guests moved back into the Great House for their first dance and dessert service, including a make-your-own crepe bar! It was a perfect ending to a fantastic Ipswich wedding at The Crane Estate.

Congratulations Shannon and Marc on your beautiful evening, we were so happy to share these moments with you!

The Crane Estate in Ipswich, MA is one of our favorite summertime wedding venues, the rolling green hills and seaside feel are perfect for a July or August wedding. But it can also be a perfect venue for a beautiful Autumn wedding, as we saw this October with Wisam and Jack.

Wisam and Jack celebrated their wedding on a perfect October day at the Crane Estate, it was beautiful with not a cloud in the sky. The look and feel of the wedding was driven by two things — the couple’s love of books and reading, and the color inspiration of orange and grey, which was seen in details throughout the evening. Wisam carried a gorgeous Autumn-inspired bouquet of bright orange and red flowers, mixed with cool grey berries and leaves to match the decor. The ceremony took place outside on the Crane Estate’s sweeping half-mile lawn, with a beautiful view of the ocean behind the couple as they said their I dos.

The reception was warm, intimate, and modern, with great little details that really made the night special, thanks to the couples wedding planner Paula Marrero of Marrero Events. The grey and orange color inspiration popped up everywhere, from the grey linens topped with orange bouquets, to the grey and orange printed escort cards, to classic grey drink straws tied with orange ribbon. The details also reflected the couple’s reading theme, with small stacks of books on each table and table numbers printed on book pages.

When we asked our good friend Paula Marrero for her thoughts on the details and feel of the event this is what she had to say: With Wisam & Jack we tried to represent both of their personalities, using vintage book stacks, antique milk glass, and a strong color palette of persimmon orange and charcoal gray. The contrast between the vibrant shades of orange, the solid and prominent gray tones, the textured milk glass, and the gently weathered books complimented the architecture of this old New England estate.

The celebration lasted well into the night, with great food, fun, and even a special performance from Sabrina the belly dancer! Congratulations Wisam and Jack on a beautiful Autumn wedding, we loved being able to capture this day with you. Also a big thank you to Paula Marrero for being so lovely to work with!

Aleena and Ohan let their heritage play a big role in their traditional Armenian wedding at the beautiful Crane Estate in Ipswich, Ma.

The bride and groom started the day by getting ready with their families at their separate family homes before heading over to the church in Watertown. The couple’s family and friends were joined by guests from all over the world for the day’s events. The wedding was traditional Armenian which included a crowning ceremony for the new bride and groom. After the ceremony and a few formal photos at the church, we headed to Ipswich.

Aleena and Ohan chose the Crane Estate’s exquisite seaside Great House for their tented wedding reception. Upon arrival, guests enjoyed the sweeping view of the Estate at a cocktail hour on the outdoor terrace. Before the reception began, we had the opportunity to take the couple down to the Estate’s Italian Garden for a few more photos. Following cocktail hour, the wedding guests were moved into the tent, beautifully designed by Dana Markos Events!

We love that Aleena changed into a more party-friendly dress to kick off the dancing following dinner. We were so happy to be able to capture this important day for Aleena and Ohan, congratulations to the happy couple!

Summer is just around the corner, and for Person + Killian Photography that means its time for gorgeous seaside weddings at The Crane Estate!

The Crane Estate in Ipswich MA is one of our favorite New England venues for outdoor weddings — with the enormous and historic Great House located on Castle Hill and sweeping half-mile manicured lawns, all just steps away from the ocean, its a perfect summertime venue. A few weeks ago it was the home to a Seaside Wedding Showcase, which Person + Killian Photography was delighted to not only photograph, but be a part of as well.

Future brides, grooms, and guests were invited to visit the Estate, preview the breathtaking ocean views, and meet with dozens of New England wedding professionals to help them envision and plan their upcoming big day. They have also introduced options for eco-conscious weddings, making it easy for environmentally friendly brides and grooms to have gorgeous “green” weddings at The Crane Estate

Check out a few of the photos from the event below, and thanks to the Crane Estate for inviting us to be a part of it all!

Tiffany and Joe describe their recent wedding as a “Romantic English country garden wedding” and they chose the perfect location at the North Shore’s Crane Estate at Castle Hill in Ipswich. After getting ready at the Inn at Castle Hill, Tiffany and Joe shared their first look in the beautiful and romantic Italian Garden. From there, the outdoor ceremony took place on the properties famous rolling lawn.

For the reception, the guests moved into the clear tent that was decked out in lavender, celadon and fuchsia floral arrangements by our dear friend and talented floral designer Dana Markos of Dana Markos Events. The bride even changed the sash on her stunning Vera Wang dress from champagne to lavender for the second half of the day’s celebrations.

The couple and their guests danced into the early hours of the morning with the Sultans of Swing and stopped only to cut into one of their delicious cupcakes by Jenny’s Cakes and a few impromptu performances with guests and the band. A special thanks to the fabulous Francie of Tangorra Wedding Planning for helping make Tiff and Joe’s wedding such a successful and a memorable day for Person + Killian Photography to capture!

The Great House on Castle Hill is located on The Crane Estate in Ipswich, Ma. A historic landmark, and is one of the most sought –after wedding venues in the North Shore. The elegant architecture, panoramic ocean views and amazing landscapes, provided the perfect backdrop for Brooke + Matt’s Seaside wedding! Of course Person + Killian Photography was ecstatic to be a part of it all!

The couple described their wedding as – an elegant coastal garden feel with some lovebird accents. Our favorite touch was the adorable pair of lovebirds atop their beach-themed cake! Their colors were sage + ocean blue and they chose to be married in the same church as Brookes parents + grandparents. Such a beautiful sentimental touch and Lauren was honored to be there to document this beautiful event. We loved being able to capture pictures with the couple all over the Crane Estate’s property, including the romantic Italian Gardens and out on the lawn right as the sun was setting. The spring weather held out all day and night for this beautiful and elegant seaside-inspired wedding! Congratulations Brooke and Matt, we had such a blast capturing your wedding day.
