When deciding where to have their late summer wedding, Jessica + Michael instantly knew that Cape Cod was the place they wanted to be. Their family has been vacationing on the Cape for over 50 years, traveling all the way from Texas each summer to enjoy the beautiful New England seaside! The happy couple started their classic Cape Cod wedding weekend with a traditional New England lobster bake for their rehearsal dinner Friday night.

A tent was installed in the backyard of their rented house in Chatham, MA to host their friends and family for the beautiful evening dinner. The long family-style tables were decorated in navy blue and white with lots of fun nautical details, even the bottles of water were kept in a classic rowboat filled with ice with a custom “Jessica + Michael” life preserver on the front! We loved getting to meet all of the Jessica +  Michael’s closest friends and family, and hearing all of the heartfelt toasts about this wonderful couple the night before the wedding.

We loved sharing this Cape Cod wedding weekend with Jessica + Michael — here’s what the bride and groom had to say about their beautiful Chatham Bars Inn wedding: We wanted to feel like we were throwing a casually elegant dinner party at our own home so that people can literally kick off their shoes, put on flip flops, and dance the night away. We chose a destination wedding in Cape Cod because Jessica grew up going there in the summertime. Her grandfather started the tradition when he lived in Boston, before moving to Texas and carrying on the tradition. We also decided to do a beach wedding because we both LOVE the ocean, and we wanted to limit our wedding to the people that we know will be lifelong family and friends.

The next morning the wedding celebration began — Jessica and her bridesmaids got ready for the day in their rented house, while Michael and his groomsmen spent the morning at the Chatham Bars Inn. The ladies wore beautiful eggplant purple bridesmaid dresses, and Jessica looked stunning in a lace-topped Elizabeth Fillmore wedding gown. The men looked perfectly “Cape Cod” in light grey suits paired with soft green ties and a simple calla lily boutonniere.

Rustic wooden boat signs pointed the way towards the outdoor wedding ceremony at the Chatham Bars Inn, which took place under a beautiful white arbor overlooking the ocean. The long winding staircase leading down from the Inn itself made Jessica’s big entrance especially stunning and unique! After the “I do”s, the happy newlyweds were led down the aisle and back to the Inn by a traditional Scottish bagpiper.Chatham Bars Inn Wedding Photography JM 009Chatham Bars Inn Wedding Photography JM 010Chatham Bars Inn Wedding Photography JM 011Chatham Bars Inn Wedding Photography JM 012Chatham Bars Inn Wedding Photography JM 013

While guests began cocktail hour in the Chatham Bars Inn Boat House, we took the opportunity to get some great formal wedding photos with Jessica, Michael, and their wedding party. After the formal photos, we kicked off our shoes and took just the bride and groom out to the beach for some romantic beach wedding pictures. With the beautiful blue water, grass-covered dunes, and sailboats in the background this was the perfect place for classic Cape Cod wedding photos!

The evening reception was set up  inside the Beach House Grill, with classic silver linens and ballroom chairs paired with white napkins and cushions. The floral centerpieces were a beautiful mix of white, green, and blue summer flowers, and each place setting featured a customized wedding logo with Jessica + Michael’s initials inside a silver ship’s helm. Dancing took place outside under the adjacent clear tent, which was lit with purple uplights as soon as the sun started to set.

After a night full of eating, dancing, and celebrating with their friends and family, the beaming bride and groom made their exit while guests held up sparklers and threw white dove-shaped confetti. The celebration didn’t stop there, as guests who weren’t ready to stop dancing headed to the late-night after party for even more fun!

Thank you Jessica and Michael for having us there to photograph such a special weekend for you, to the team at the Chatham Bars Inn and team at Cape Cod Celebrations for being so great to work with as always!

There are so many fantastic New England wedding venues perfect for a seaside wedding — whether you’re right outside of Boston on the North Shore,  south in Rhode Island or on Cape Cod! Christina and Tony chose the beautiful Chatham Bars Inn for their summer wedding on the Cape, an elegant beach wedding with lots of blue, white and natural elements.

Christina and her bridesmaids began the day getting ready in a suite above the Beach House Grill, with a great view of the ocean right outside.  Christina’s gown was perfect for a summer beach wedding — a strapless mermaid cut dress with an embellished silver belt. The bridal party wore strapless seafoam green dresses, and Christina gifted necklaces and matching clutch purses to all the ladies before the wedding. All of the women carried white and green summer flowers, tied with a matching seafoam ribbon for the bridesmaids and a creme-colored ribbon for the bride.

The outdoor ceremony took place on the Chatham Bars Inn lawn, overlooking the ocean. Christina and her father made a grand entrance down the staircase towards the beautifully decorated white and green archway for the ceremony. Following the “I do”s, a traditional Scottish bagpiper lead the happy newlyweds across the Chatham Bars Inn boardwalk down to the beach for some formal pictures with the couple, their wedding party and families.

We got some great photographs of the bride and groom with their bridal party right on the water’s edge, with classic Cape Cod boats floating just behind in the background. The groom and groomsmen were dressed in tan suits, with white shirts and a bright blue tie for just a touch of nautical colors.

Before heading to the reception, we had some time to spend alone with Christina and Tony to take some great beach wedding pictures on the footbridge over the water, in the grassy beach dunes, and along the classic New England boardwalk before heading inside to the reception.

The Chatham Bars Inn Beach House was transformed into a beautiful wedding reception space with natural creme-colored linens, clear silver-lined charger plates and dark natural wood ballroom chairs. White and green flowers on all the tabletops added a pop of color to the Beach House, and the clear tent over the outdoor patio made a perfect dance floor for the night’s party. Guests were signing classic Cape Cod lobster buoys in lieu of a guest book, and a traditional lobster trap was set out for gifts and cards.

Following the last dance, the band announced the surprise sparkler exit where guests walked from the Beach House Grill to the after party at The Monomoy. Guests enjoyed night snacks including mini shakes and burgers and hit the dance floor with music from a DJ.

We loved the elegant twist this couple put on a classic beach wedding theme. It had all the right touches of summer, sand, and the seaside for a great Cape Cod wedding. Congratulations Christina and Tony! Also, a big thank you to Allison Wildes Liset who planned this beautiful wedding and the team at the Chatham Bars Inn!

Ritz-Carlton Boston Common Holiday Soiree

Person + Killian Photography recently had another great wedding at the Chatham Bars Inn on Cape Cod. This time, we were there for Laura and Bob’s beautiful seaside affair!

We kicked off the big day at the Inn, where the bridal party got ready. Laura wore her long hair down, and enlisted stylist Amy Hudson to create soft, flowing waves. Makeup artist Rebecca Hickey used a light, neutral color palette to give the bride an elegant, yet natural look.

Once the bride had donned her gorgeous Amsale gown, it was time to head to the South Lawn for the beachside ceremony. Along with her beautiful white and ivory bouquet by Lilacs, Laura carried an heirloom lace handkerchief, which had been in the family for more than 100 years!

Following the ceremony, the festivities moved to the Boat House for cocktails, and ultimately, to the Beach House for dinner and dancing. The pale green, ivory, and white color scheme was present throughout the day, and afforded the entire event a beautifully organic, yet distinctly ‘Cape Cod’, feeling.

A big thank you to Cape Cod wedding Planner Allison Liset, for once again being such a pleasure to work with! Congratulations Laura and Bob, and thank you for trusting Person + Killian Photography to capture your special day!

When former Springfield news anchor Jaclyn Cashman (daughter of Boston construction boss Jay Cashman) married fellow Boston College grad and Cashman Inc. exec C. Trevor Childs at the Chatham Bars Inn, Person + Killian Photography was there to capture it all.

Following Friday’s beach party and lobster bake on Cashman’s private island off the coast of Chatham was Saturday’s spectacular wedding. Celebrating the events of the weekend alongside the couple were their parents, Jay and his wife, actress and executive producer of “The Kids Are All Right” Christy Scott Cashman, Trevor’s mom Laurie Jones (Managing editor of Vogue), Best man and Trevor’s dad, artist C. Frederick Childs and Jaclyn’s mom Linda Cashman-Belton.

After the ceremony where the bride walked down the isle in a spectacular dress by Christos at Saks Fifth Avenue it was off to the South Lawn of the Chatham Bars Inn for a 1940’s inspired cocktail hour and reception.

The party featured an array of surprises and entertainment for the 200+ guests including the White Heat Swing Orchestra, photo booth with props (always a hit) and both an espresso and cigar bar. One of the biggest hits of the night was The Zoo Band that traveled to Chatham from New York City. The reception concluded with a custom fireworks display over the water.

Even though the reception had ended, the party continued into the early hours of the morning when CBI’s Monomoy Meeting House was transformed into a nightclub complete with DJ, floor to ceiling uplighting and everyone’s favorite late night snacks.

Capturing the weekend alongside P+K were Boston Globe Photographer Bill Brett and Boston Herald Photographer Arthur Pollock who were on hand to take a few images of the couple and their guests. Even the New York Times featured an article on this incredible weekend of events.

It was an absolute thrill having the opportunity to photograph this amazing weekend, which was all planned by Allison Wildes Liset of Elegant Engagements. Congratulations to newlyweds Jaclyn and Trevor and thank you to you and your amazing families for being so accommodating and wonderful to work with.
