Meditech, Inc. in Canton, MA might be one of the best kept venue secrets in the Boston area — their unbelievable Atrium was the location for the bright, colorful, and elegant garden wedding of Lauren and Marc that we recently had the pleasure of photographing. Paula Marrero of Marrero Events designed this one-of-a-kind wedding, at a truly unique wedding venue and it was gorgeous!

The Meditech Atrium features a high vaulted glass ceiling and two rows of towering palm trees, which made this wedding ceremony feel like a beautiful outdoor spring wedding. The couple said their I Dos underneath the Atrium’s beautiful white pavilion, which was woven with soft pink cherry blossom branches and accented by an elegant crystal chandelier. The ceremony area was lined with topiaries and white gardenias making guests feel like they were sitting in the middle of a garden.

Following the ceremony, guests headed inside to the Meditech Gallery to enjoy cocktails and hors d’oeuvres. The Gallery itself features artwork created by Meditech’s own employees, and was enhanced by elegant tables, bars, and candelabras from Reserve Modern Event Rentals. Meanwhile we stayed outside with the happy newlyweds and their family to get some formal photos under the pavilion. We were even joined by the three family dogs, who were all dressed up with flowers and bowties for the special occasion!

For the reception, the Atrium was transformed with long dining tables that lined the perimeter of the courtyard, square tables in the center and a special head table underneath the pavilion. Each table was filled with a lush mixture of pink and white garden flowers, from roses and peonies to branches of cherry blossoms. Purple uplights lined the courtyard walls and hundreds of candles were placed throughout the Atrium, which made the space glow as soon as the sun started to set. It was a beautiful spring night, and guests could see the dark night sky through the glass ceiling above while they enjoyed their dinner.

For end-of-the-night dancing, everyone moved back into the Gallery to a sleek all-white dance floor illuminated with the couple’s initials. White lounge furniture, high cocktail tables, and an array of beautifully unique candles filled the room which was washed with soft blue and purple uplighting. This was truly a beautiful day and we were so thrilled that Lauren and Marc choose us to capture it for them! A special thanks to Paula Marrero  and her team for being so wonderful to work with and to the newlyweds for being so sweet and welcoming. Congratulations Lauren and Marc!

As soon as we met Shefali + Dinesh, we knew their wedding weekend was going to be spectacular. Their traditional Indian wedding ceremony did not disappoint — it was full of color, emotion, elegance, and special traditions that we don’t get to see at  most weddings! When we asked the bride to describe the inspiration behind the big day, she said:“We wanted a grand Indian wedding mixed with a classic Boston backdrop. I wanted a lot of glamour, so we had lots of elements of gold and sequins!”

The wedding weekend began on Friday evening, at a Sangeet celebration at the Hyatt Regency Boston. The Grand Ballroom was transformed for this beautiful pre-wedding dinner, complete with food, drinks, music, and dancing. Members of Shefali + Dinesh’s family performed dances, skits, and speeches in honor of the bride and groom, and a special group of Bhangra dancers was brought in for an exciting performance.

The celebration continued on Saturday morning, when we arrived at the Boston Park Plaza to capture the bride and groom getting ready for the big day. It was a beautiful spring day in Boston, so we took Shefali and Dinesh out to the Boston Common to have their first look! Shefali was beautifully dressed in a traditional wedding Sari, in stunning bright colors of fuschia, red, and gold. She carried a bouquet of red and pink roses wrapped in gold ribbon, and was adorned with several gold necklaces and bright pink bangle bracelets. We were soon joined by the rest of the wedding party for some outdoor formal photos in the Boston Common, before heading back to the Park Plaza to begin the afternoon ceremony.

The ceremony began with the Bharaat, in which Dinesh and his procession arrives at the ballroom and are greeted and welcomed by Shefali’s family. The Georgian Ballroom at the Park Plaza was transformed into a beautiful ceremony space with gold and white chiavari ballroom chairs, a candle-lit center aisle, and six dramatically lit golden trees atop the mandap. The bride enters the mandap through a white cloth, which represents the end of their separate lives together and the start of their married life as husband and wife. This traditional Indian wedding ceremony was full of special significance and important moments for Shefali, Dinesh, and their families. The bride and groom complete several traditional rituals to become husband and wife, including the placing of colorful garlands around each other’s necks, a walk together around the fire, and the married women of the family whispering blessings to the new bride. As well as the traditional exchanging of wedding bands, the bride is also wrapped in a traditional red Sari by her husband’s mother, Dinesh ties a necklace around her neck to remain close to her heart, and a sacred red powder is applied to the bride’s forehead to complete their union. The newlyweds eventually leave in an emotional “Vidai”, where the bride must bid farewell to her family in order to join her husband in their new life together!

Following the ceremony, we joined Shefali in her bridal suite where she changed out of her wedding outfit and into an elegant green and gold reception dress to enjoy the rest of of the night. While the guests enjoyed cocktails and hors d’oeuvres, we spent some time alone with the happy newlyweds, capturing some photos in their beautiful wedding suite. Before opening the doors to begin the reception, we brought the bride and groom into the Park Plaza Imperial Ballroom to get a sneak peek of their wedding decor and take some special photos of the two of them alone. The Imperial Ballroom was elegantly transformed with a mix of white and shimmery gold linens, topped with bright fuschia and red floral centerpieces and ornate golden spheres. A custom “Shefali and Dinesh” light illuminated the middle of the dance floor and the whole room had a warm and elegant glow.

Following the energetic introduction of the bride, groom, and their families into the ballroom, Shefali + Dinesh were toasted by their parents and friends to kick off the night. The bride and groom cut three different flavored cakes before their traditional father/daughter and mother/son dances, and fantastic music from DJ Yogz kept guests on the dance floor all night!

We were so thrilled to be a part of this very special day with Shefali + Dinesh, special thanks to all of their friends and family for including us and to Alexis of Unique Weddings by Alexis for such a fabulous event!

It’s official — the 2014 wedding season has begun! We were so happy to kick off a year of fabulous events with this beautiful wedding at the Omni Parker House Boston.

Amanda + Jesse were inspired by the traditional vintage weddings of the 1930’s and 1940’s for their decor and color palette. Everything was both classic and glamorous, infused with colors of gold and ivory with that fun vintage flare. We absolutely loved Amanda’s vintage-inspired wedding dress, which was detailed with silver beading and sheer capped sleeves. Her chunky silver bracelet and classic white bouquet were the perfect accents to complete the look. Following the traditional church ceremony we headed to the Omni Parker House for some outdoor formal photos with the newlyweds. Amanda added a beautiful brown wrap to her dress for the outdoor photos, and Jesse matched perfectly in a classic black tux. They looked like a glamorous wedding couple straight out of the 1930’s!

For the evening wedding reception, the Omni Parker House ballroom was beautifully transformed with specially made extra-long rectangular tables and custom-cut ivory and gold pin-striped runners to match. The branch centerpieces on each of the dining tables were hung with soft gold candles, which also lined the tables themselves, to add a warm and intimate glow to the space. Gold chiavari ballroom chairs paired with ivory cushions tied everything together, and fit perfectly with the ballroom’s natural colored walls and elegant crystal chandeliers. Their classic 4-tiered white wedding cake was accented with bands of gold ribbon and topped with edible gold pearls for an elegant and glamorous touch. We loved how Amanda + Jesse combined classic elegant elements with a really fun vintage twist, it made their wedding day so beautiful and totally unique. Everything worked together so flawlessly and we could not have been happier to share this special day with such a wonderful couple!

We can’t wait to continue this 2014 season with even more fabulous, one-of-a-kind weddings, and special thanks to Amanda + Jesse for kicking it off with such a fantastic event! Congratulations!

The Omni Parker House is one of Boston’s most famous and historic wedding venues — located in the heart of Downtown Boston, it’s the perfect spot for couples looking for that “classic Boston” wedding. Emily + Chris found that the Omni Parker House was the perfect venue for their Autumn wedding in Boston, and they added lots of personalized details to give it a twist of their own.

Emily + Chris described their wedding as “a modern take on Old School Boston, classic and elegant elements mixed with a really fun, laid back crowd looking to celebrate a great moment with us and our families!“.

The bride paid homage to her own family history as she got ready for the day in the Omni Parker House’s bridal suite. A pendant from her grandmother hung on her floral bouquet, and her wedding jewelry were heirlooms passed down through generations of her family. Emily + Chris decided not to see each other before the wedding ceremony, so as soon as the bride and her attendants were ready to go we hopped in a limo to St. Ignatius Church at Boston College — where Emily + Chris both attended college.

As guests arrived at the Church they were greeted by a traditional Irish piper welcoming them into the ceremony, and a set of customized moss initials hung from the Church door for Emily + Chris’ special day. Following the ceremony and family photos at the church, we headed out on the BC campus with the couple and wedding party. The couple even had a special request for some photos in the Boston College laundry room of the dorm where Emily and Chris met for the first time years ago.

We loved the special twist the bride and groom gave to their grand entrance into the evening reception in the Omni Parker House Rooftop Ballroom. As all of the guests circled the dance floor and the newlywed’s were announced, Chris (singer in a band) pulled a microphone out of his pocket and serenaded his new bride to “You Make My Dreams Come True” — the guests had no idea! Later in the evening, Chris performed another song on stage with the band accompanied by his sister, brother, and father. Emily + Chris decided not to have a formal cake cutting, but kept that traditional Old School Boston feeling with the Omni Parker House’s signature Boston Creme Pie for dessert. After dinner and dancing, a station of apple cider and cider donuts from the Cold Hollow Cider Mill in Waterbury, VT (near where the bride grew up) was set up for a late night snack.

This wedding was a perfect mix of a traditional Boston wedding and a fun, modern party. Thank you to the team at Omni Parker House for such a great event, and congratulations Emily + Chris!

Kate + Joe described their wedding day as a “black tie summer wedding on the water” — and it turned out to be absolutely picture perfect! They chose the Boston Harbor Hotel as their wedding venue, with the elegant Wharf Room for dinner and dancing, and lots of spots for harbor-side photos it was the perfect place for their formal summer wedding.

Kate and her bridesmaids started the morning at her family house in Wellesley, relaxing and getting dressed and ready for the big day. After the final touches of hair and makeup, Kate’s mom and sister helped her into her gorgeous strapless wedding gown and we headed off to the church. The traditional Catholic wedding ceremony took place at the nearby St. John’s Church in Wellesley, and finished with the happy newlyweds exiting the church to a sea of guests blowing bubbles! Kate and Joe greeted their guests in a traditional receiving line before their friends and family traveled to the Boston Harbor Hotel to begin the party. We stayed at the church with the bride, groom, and their wedding party for some great formal shots outside, as well as some traditional bride and groom car shots in their beautiful white 1937 Packard before making the trip back to Boston.

Before heading inside to the reception, we took advantage of the Boston Harbor Hotel’s beautiful harbor-side view and iconic Rotunda for some formal wedding photography with the bridal party right on the water. Afterward, we brought Kate and Joe inside the Wharf Room before guests came in for a sneak peek of their gorgeous elegant wedding reception! The decor was colorful, summery, and classic — with shades of blue, white, ivory, green, and yellow. White roses, orchids, and calla lilies were mixed with pops of bright purple and green in the stunning floral centerpieces from Lotus Designs, and soft candlelight on each table gave the room a warm and intimate glow. Each towering floral arrangement was displayed in a sleek crystal vase, and surrounded by smaller arrangements on all sides to really fill the tables with color.

The party kicked off with a traditional first dance, cake cutting, beautiful toasts from friends and family, and parent dances with the bride and groom. Once the dance floor was open, guests kicked off their heels and put on colorful flip flops to dance the night away! Before the evening came to a close, we took Kate and Joe back outside for some beautiful nighttime shots overlooking the harbor with the incredible moonlight and city lights behind them.

We had so much fun spending the day with this great couple, special thanks to The Wedding Beautiful, Inc. for a beautiful event, and the entire team at the Boston Harbor Hotel. Congratulations Kate + Joe!

Erin and Hayes really took advantage of this beautiful summer season at their Fairmont Copley Plaza Wedding in late July. They incorporated lots of fresh summer flowers and soft summer colors into their classic and elegant ballroom wedding.

Erin’s beautiful summer bouquet was full of white roses and peonies, and accented with subtle hints of purple and green. Her bridesmaids wore dark navy chiffon dresses and carried stunning bouquets in shades of creme, purple, and blush. The bride and groom decided not to see each other before the wedding, so we headed straight to the gorgeous chapel at St. Cecilia’s once the ladies were ready for the traditional Catholic ceremony!

We made the quick trip from St. Cecilia’s to the Boston Public Garden following the ceremony for some sunny outdoor wedding photos with Erin, Hayes, and their wedding party. The summer weather could not have been more perfect for the outdoor formals! The evening reception took place in the Fairmont Copley Plaza’s Oval Room — the gold and champagne colored walls, curtains, and crystal chandelier were matched perfectly by simple textured white linens and beautiful summer floral centerpieces. The newlyweds chose a mix of tall arrangements in elegant clear vases and smaller mixes of the same flowers. The summer flowers were white, pink, and soft blush, and the tables were paired with gold chiavari ballroom chairs matched with white cushions.

After the romantic first dance and toasts from friends and family, Erin and Hayes cut their gorgeous four-tiered white wedding cake — decorated with cascading creme-colored roses and displayed on a bright gold stand, surrounded by soft blush summer rose petals.

We could not have asked for a more beautiful summer wedding, with a perfect mix of classic elegance, traditional details, and fun summer colors. As always a big thank you to Alice Fay and her entire team at the Fairmont Copley Plaza for always being so lovely to work with! Cheers to another beautiful event, and congratulations Erin + Hayes!

Kate + Joe’s beautiful Fairmont Copley Plaza wedding in downtown Boston was a great way to kick off the holiday season! This New York City-based couple decided to come back to Boston for their elegant winter wedding.

The first look took place in the Fairmont Copley lobby, providing a perfect holiday backdrop for pictures. The ceremony took place at Our Lady of Victories Church in Back Bay followed by cocktail hour and and reception back at the Fairmont.

The Oval Room looked classic and elegant with pink and white rose bouquets and pop of extra color with pink uplighting. The ballroom was adorned wreaths adding a festive holiday twist to this intimate winter wedding.

Congratulations Kate + Joe, we loved being able to spend this special day with you!

The Crane Estate in Ipswich, MA is one of our favorite summertime wedding venues, the rolling green hills and seaside feel are perfect for a July or August wedding. But it can also be a perfect venue for a beautiful Autumn wedding, as we saw this October with Wisam and Jack.

Wisam and Jack celebrated their wedding on a perfect October day at the Crane Estate, it was beautiful with not a cloud in the sky. The look and feel of the wedding was driven by two things — the couple’s love of books and reading, and the color inspiration of orange and grey, which was seen in details throughout the evening. Wisam carried a gorgeous Autumn-inspired bouquet of bright orange and red flowers, mixed with cool grey berries and leaves to match the decor. The ceremony took place outside on the Crane Estate’s sweeping half-mile lawn, with a beautiful view of the ocean behind the couple as they said their I dos.

The reception was warm, intimate, and modern, with great little details that really made the night special, thanks to the couples wedding planner Paula Marrero of Marrero Events. The grey and orange color inspiration popped up everywhere, from the grey linens topped with orange bouquets, to the grey and orange printed escort cards, to classic grey drink straws tied with orange ribbon. The details also reflected the couple’s reading theme, with small stacks of books on each table and table numbers printed on book pages.

When we asked our good friend Paula Marrero for her thoughts on the details and feel of the event this is what she had to say: With Wisam & Jack we tried to represent both of their personalities, using vintage book stacks, antique milk glass, and a strong color palette of persimmon orange and charcoal gray. The contrast between the vibrant shades of orange, the solid and prominent gray tones, the textured milk glass, and the gently weathered books complimented the architecture of this old New England estate.

The celebration lasted well into the night, with great food, fun, and even a special performance from Sabrina the belly dancer! Congratulations Wisam and Jack on a beautiful Autumn wedding, we loved being able to capture this day with you. Also a big thank you to Paula Marrero for being so lovely to work with!

Recently, Person + Killian Photography had the chance to work at the Renaissance Golf Club for Julie and Phil’s wedding. From the first day that Jill met with the couple she was looking forward capturing their big day.

With the combination of a fabulous new venue, perfect weather for an outdoor ceremony, Julie’s gorgeous hair piece, polka-dot bridesmaids dresses (love them!), and atypical brown tuxedos for the guys, the day was full of great photo ops for the newlyweds.

Thank you to Julie and Phil for having P+K document your special day and to our dear friend Trish for sending this wonderful couple our way!
