Person + Killian Photography was humbled to take part in documenting the World War II veterans “Honor flight”, that departed Boston last week.

A distinguished group of World War II veterans had the chance to visit the World War II Memorial for the first time, as part of a national initiative to honor members of the military.

In all, 250 World War II veterans who served in the Pacific traveled to Washington, DC from across the country on “Honor Flights,” special trips arranged by The Honor Flight Network to bring veterans to the nation’s capitol in order to see the memorials that honor their service to our country.

HBO, in partnership with American Airlines and Marriott Hotels & Resorts, sponsored these a special Honor Flights, timed to the premiere of The Pacific. The epic, 10-part miniseries is based on the true stories of WWII Marines who fought in the Pacific Theater.

Honor Flights departed March 10 from Boston, Chicago, Cleveland (serving veterans from the Akron-Canton area), New York and Orlando, with special send-off events at the gates in each city.

Thank you to all our World War II veterans and those who followed and continue to fight for our country every day.

Last week Person + Killian Photography was asked by their good friend David Handy of Longwood Events to photograph all of the students at Boston Youth Moves for their upcoming Gala on March 6th at the Westin Copley Place. We of course said yes!!

Boston Youth Moves (BYM) is a non-profit pre-professional dance-training program for teens in the Greater Boston Area. The Mission of BYM is to encourage young people, through training in the art of dance, to explore their limitless potential.

The students were individually photographed and asked to provide a few words about what the organization has done for them. Each student will represent a table at the gala with their picture along with their quote. What a great way to get to know the dancers a little better, as well as spread awareness for such a good program!

Here are just a few of the images along with the invite to Swellegance 2010. This year, BYM will be honoring Tony Award winner and Broadway star, Tommy Tune.  For more information on the organization or to purchase tickets for this great event, visit Boston Youth Moves.

A special thank you to David for including P+K as part of this great event and to our associate Photographer Shane for doing this photoshoot!

A recent shopping trip to Chestnut Hill’s Bloomingdale’s Home Store, reminded Person + Killian Photography of a fantastic Boston event they had the pleasure of photographing in the fall.

The “Pre-Wedding” Wedding Party with Darcy Miller, an editor at Martha Stewart Weddings Magazine, was co-sponsored by Southern New England Weddings and the Boston Wedding Group. The evening was certainly a success and a lot of fun to Photograph! The Room was filled with the talented work of event décor and floral designer Dana Markos, who created beautiful table design ideas for all seasons and styles.

Every year Person + Killian Photography has a cocktail party to say thank you to our amazing industry friends. This is our way of showing gratitude to everyone who puts their trust and support behind us and our work. We are so blessed to have met and worked with so many talented professionals and are grateful for the friendships we have made over the years. Our industry party is a great way to say thank you!!

This year our party was at The Loft in South Boston. The loft-style space was the perfect backdrop for our modern party. Colors of red and black popped up everywhere in the decor, and we loved the romantic rose petal floor piece! The night certainly would not have been a success with out the hard work and collaboration of our dear friends Amy Kimball (Amy Kimball Events) , Chad Michael Peters (Chad Michael Peters) , Naomi & Jack (Generations cinemastories), Stephanie Solomon (Rentals Unlimited) and Larry Chan (Signs and Prints).

Also, a big thank you for the talented work of MAX ultimate food, Baker Street Productions, Brian Deichman (Immedia) and Jon Tadillo (The Image Standard).

Person + Killian Photography started off the 2010 season with two beautiful photo shoots at Boston’s Hotel Commonwealth and the Millennium Bostonian Hotel. Both were filled with  gorgeous décor.

Below are a few table photographs designed by our dear friend David Handy for a private Boston event at Hotel Commonwealth.

The second set of Photographs are from the newly renovated Millennium Bostonian Hotel in downtown Boston’s Faneuil Hall.

Person + Killian Photography had the pleasure of documenting and taking part in a once-in-a-lifetime three day Discovery Adventure trip behind the scenes at some of Boston’s most treasured attractions. We had a blast with our personal tour guides direct from some of the Discovery Channel’s most popular TV shows including Jeff Corwin, the Emmy-Award winning host “The Corwin Experience” and CNN’s “Planet in Peril”.

Day one began with the Build it Better Walking Tour with Danny Forster, host of Discovery Channel’s “Build it Bigger”. Danny lead us through the cutting-edge Genzyme Center (one of the most environmentally responsible office buildings in the world that combines innovative design and cutting-edge technology to create one of the greenest workplaces in America). His charismatic personality made for an informative yet fun morning that seemed to fly by.

Then we were off to the Franklin Park Zoo to spend the afternoon with Jeff Corwin who shared with us his passion for changing the world, one species at a time. It was fascinating to hear from him first hand that his love for the animal world all started as a child spending summer days wandering the zoo while his father (then a Boston police officer) patrolled the district.

Day two began with a behind the scenes tour of the New England Aquarium then off on an afternoon Whale Watching Expedition aboard the Voyager III where we were taken to the whale feeding grounds just 30 miles east of Boston.

The highlight of our day came when we had dinner with the very charming Philippe Cousteau, Animal Planet’s Chief Ocean Correspondent and the grandson of the legendary Captain Jacques-Yves Cousteau. Cousteau is best known for having co-hosted Animal Planet’s “Ocean’s Deadliest” with the late Steve Irwin.

Our unforgettable three day adventure ended with a trip to the Museum of Science for a We Can Change the World scavenger hunt through the museum’s more than 600 interactive adventures.

We had a terrific time in what was certainly an adventurous week. Meeting such accomplished television personalities who love their daily jobs and were obviously delighted to share there knowledge with us is an experience we will not soon forget.

Boston photographers  Person + Killian are excited to be working with Planet Green, the Discovery Channel’s 24 hour eco-lifestyle television network, to document the Siemens We Can Change the World Challenge, which is coming to Boston next week.

“The Siemens We Can Change the World Challenge gives students the opportunity, tools and inspiration to become agents of change. Student teams from across the country will be challenged to create sustainable, reproducible environmental improvements in their local communities.”

Taking place over a three-day period, the Boston challenge will be filmed in such places as the New England Aquarium, the Franklin Park Zoo and the Boston Museum of Science.

We are thrilled to have been hired to document this “Discovery Adventure” and hope to learn a little something about becoming “Agents of Change” ourselves.

Stay tuned for pictures of this amazing project!

Person and Killian Kleinfeld Fashion Show

Recently we worked on the Kleinfeld bridal fashion show that was held at Bloomingdale’s in Chestnut Hill. This event was sponsored by Southern New England Weddings, one of our absolute favorite wedding magazines and of course Kleinfeld’s. Kleinfeld’s is a world class bridal atelier and has appeared in ‘s “Say Yes to the Dress”. The fashion that they presented ranged from short and flirty to amazingly romantic. Each one of the stunning models was a thrill to catch with our cameras.  In case you missed the show, or want to relive the expierence play our video slide show.

Person + Killian adore an event! Within every event there are spectacular moments that showcase “the best of” in so many arenas – communities gathering to lend their support to a worthy cause, honoring a colleague, or a fashion show. Event Photography has many elements and Person + Killian seek out all the “stars of the show”. Showcasing an event through a journalistic approach is the hallmark of Person + Killian photography style.  See more of our portfolio under the events section of our website.

Person + Killian love an event!  We love it even more when we are lucky enough to get back stage and hang with the talent!  When the Beach Boys came to Wellesley for a late summer concert it was a photo safari for Person+Killian.  With a New England winter on the horizon the crowd took full advantage of the music that few can resist.  The dancing, the singing, the screaming – gave us plenty of photos full of a joyful crowd.
