What can we say about Emily and Doug? We LOVE them and this beautiful autumn wedding in the mountains. Emily and Doug met in the White Mountains and have a love of all things rock climbing. The Mountain View Grand Resort and Spa is breathtaking with its panoramic views and exceptional, one-of-a-kind spaces – the perfect locale!

While the ladies were putting their finishing touches for the day ahead, the gentlemen donned suits with rope boutonnieres. A sweet bouquet of soft pinks, whites, and greens complemented Emily’s classic lace wedding gown. Because Emily and Doug wanted to maximize spending time with their loved ones they decided to have a First Look against a beautiful backdrop overlooking the White Mountains.

After wrapping up formals, we made our way over to the ballroom for the wedding ceremony. Sipping on champagne, guests gathered in the Crystal Ballroom which showcases a beautiful hand-painted dome and restored chandelier. Bringing the outside in, Emily and Doug brought in lots of organic elements to balance the space with a warm natural feel.

The wedding ceremony was officiated by Emily’s brother and was personal, sweet and filled with laughter. Immediately following the ‘I do’s’, the bride and groom snuck off for a quick private moment and returned for introductions. While the celebrating continued with cocktails, a serious game of giant Jenga was played. First dances made way for heartfelt toasts and dinner. Opting for a pie-cutting instead, a full spread of delicious pies were on display for dessert. The ensemble of vendors were wonderful to work with including the lovely team at the resort. We are thrilled for Emily and Doug and so thankful to be a part of this day.

Leah and Craig’s sweet fall wedding at Boston’s Fairmont Copley Plaza was full of tradition and love. We began the crisp fall day joining the wedding parties in their suites at the Fairmont. We found Leah and her loved ones preparing for the couple’s First Look. Leah dressed in a gorgeous ruffled gown from Michael De Paulo with sparkly Jimmy Choo shoes. A lush and light bouquet of mixed fall flowers completed her stunning look. We captured a few fun moments of Craig before he dressed in a formal black-tie tuxedo and we made our way to the much anticipated First Look.

After a private and tender moment seeing each other for the first time, Leah and Craig readied for their Bedeken or Veiling Ceremony. This Jewish tradition involves the veiling of the bride — the bedeken — “where the bride and groom’s families meet and the groom confirms that the bride is his intended, then covers her face with a veil.” (and what a veil it was!) Immediately following, the wedding ceremony was in the Grand Ballroom under a customary wedding chuppah. A white aisle runner laden with petals led to a polished and reflective chuppah that was surrounded by lush floral arrangements. After the traditional ceremony, guests headed to cocktail hour where the atmosphere was cheerful, full with great conversations. Guests made their way back to the transformed Grand Ballroom for the reception. The ballroom was radiant with a complementing palette of golds and creams with pops of fall colors. Tall floral arrangements with candlelight and gold-rimmed mirrored table numbers felt right at home in the ballroom. Full of laughter and celebrations, the evening continued with toasts, dinner and lots and lots of dancing!

We adored capturing this sweet & loving couple’s day; Leah and Craig – you and your families are both gracious and kind – thank you for letting Person + Killian Photography capture this exceptional day! As always, thank you to our fellow vendors, and Tracey Gavin and her skillful team at the Fairmont!

When we were asked last year if we would photograph the wedding of our dear industry friend and colleague Cortney  (one of the amazing Catering Sales Managers at the Boston Harbor Hotel) we were truly honored and knew her day would be spectacular. Cortney and Gregg celebrated their classic and elegant New England wedding this fall on the North Shore in Gloucester.

Cortney and Gregg met for their first look at the scenic Stage Fort Park before heading to their ceremony and reception at the ocean-side Cruiseport. Guests arrived to the ceremony filled with candlelight, an isle lined with white orchids and hydrangeas, roaring fireplace and musical trio. The couple incorporated Cortney’s Greek heritage into the ceremony with the traditional crowing ceremony.

For their reception, the seaside ballroom was transformed by Lotus Floral Events with hundreds of candles, lush white flower arrangements and an array of crystal vases atop lilac linens on both square and round tables. We loved the surprise addition of the grooms cake as Greg is a race car driver. Guests were welcomed in to the warm and stunning space with the music of the Kahootz band who kept the energetic group on their feet for the evening.

Congratulations Cortney and Gregg and thank you for choosing us to capture such a special and gorgeous celebration for you both!

When it came time to select the perfect place for their Boston Wedding, Jamie and Eric chose The Mandarin Oriental Hotel. This classic elegance meets traditional celebration took place this Fall at the Back Bay venue.

The bride got ready in the Beijing Room at the Mandarin with her family and bridesmaids. From there, they all headed outside to make the most of the natural light for formals and Jamie and Eric’s first look. The lavender and ivory bouquets were a perfect compliment to the deep purple bridesmaids dresses and the bride’s stunning Monique Lhuillier strapless wedding gown.

Prior to the ceremony, Jamie, Eric and their close family and friends joined in the traditional signing of the Ketubah before walking down the isle.  The couple’s traditional Jewish ceremony took place in the ballroom of the Mandarin with a perfect blend of oriental luxury and Bostonian style. All eyes were on the couple as they stood beneath the floral chuppah accented with warm lighting.  Following the ceremony guests headed to the foyer for cocktail hour while the space was transformed.

The ballroom was lit perfectly with white candles and pink and purple lighting that accentuated the decor. Following the first dance and lively hora, Jamie and Eric along with their guests, enjoyed dancing to the sounds of the Eye To Eye Band. A big thank you to the entire team at The Mandarin Oriental Hotel Boston and Congratulations Jamie and Eric!

There is nothing we love more than a Boston Harbor Hotel wedding in the fall! Something about the spectacular waterfront and crisp autumn air that makes for an absolutely magical and unforgettable event, and Elise + Kevin’s perfectly classic celebration was just that. The couple got ready at the Boston Harbor Hotel and chose not to see each other until the ceremony, which was a beautiful full mass at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Charlestown, MA. The ornate stained glass windows, high ceiling and intricate architecture of the Church, combined with the beautiful fall florals from Winston Flowers made the ceremony  truly captivating.

After the ceremony we headed over to the Boston public garden to take formal photos of the newlyweds and their families. The  grounds and fall foliage of the garden were the perfect backdrop to capture such special moments for Elise and Kevin. They then they joined their guests for cocktail hour and the reception back at the Boston Harbor Hotel overlooking the gorgeous waterfront.

The ballroom was inviting and warm, filled with exquisite fall decor, ivory and yellow wedding centerpieces with delicate branches and vines and candles. The bride and groom celebrated the night away with their family and friends while enjoying toasts, a beautiful ivory cake topped with fall flowers and dancing to the spectacular Boston band, Kahootz. Thank you to the entire team at the Boston Harbor Hotel for another flawless event, and congratulations Elise and Kevin!

Classic & Elegant Fall Boston Harbor Hotel Wedding – Photographed by Person + Killian Photography – 251 Newbury Street – Boston, MA 02116 – 617.236.1662

Fall is in the air! We loved all the fun Autumn details of Michelle + Jimmy’s picture-perfect wedding day at the Common Man Inn & Spa in Plymouth, NH.

Michelle enlisted the help of all of her friends and family to make her wedding day dreams come true. With the help of a friend, she created all of the beautiful Autumn bouquets, made of dried flowers in orange, yellow, and burgundy. Michelle’s bridesmaids wore stunning deep red dresses — which matched perfectly with the colorful bouquets — while the bride herself looked gorgeous in a Vera Wang wedding dress.

The weather was perfect for the first look atop the Inn’s Roof Top Garden. From there we headed out with the bride, groom and their closest friends and family for some more formal photographs. We had a great backdrop of beautiful New England trees just starting to change colors in the background. With some time left before the ceremony; we took the bridal party onto the nearby train tracks for a few more photos.

Michelle + Jimmy exchanged their “I do”s in a sunny outdoor wedding ceremony, with the couple’s two dogs (looking very dapper in matching red bow ties) acting as ring-bearers! The couple chose Jimmy’s best friend to officiate over the ceremony, adding a really special touch to this personalized wedding.

The dinner reception inside the Common Man Inn was warm, intimate, and rustic, with dried Autumn flowers displayed in orange vases on each table and branch archways leading to the dance floor. The couple chose to have a Fall inspired cupcake tower in lieu of a traditional wedding cake. After dinner and sunset, guests were even invited outside to the campfire to make their own s’mores!

We were so happy to join Michelle + Jimmy on their wedding day. The personal touches, rustic DIY details, and classic New England Fall colors made this wedding extra special! Special thanks to the bride and groom, and the team at the Common Man Inn & Spa for such a wonderful event. We had a blast!

Ashley and Jami celebrated their rustic Autumn wedding at the Apple Hill Farm and Country Club, a fantastic venue in Leominster, MA owned and operated by Ashley and her family. The couple definitely captured the feeling of a country wedding, with a beautiful outdoor ceremony on their recently renovated grounds.

The wedding party was dressed in gorgeous deep plum-colored dresses for the bridesmaids, and classic charcoal grey suits for the guys. We roamed the grounds with the happy couple following the ceremony, and got some great shots with everything from pumpkins to apple trees to the Halloween inspired (bridal) hay spiders!

The evening wedding reception was warm, elegant, and romantic. The brand new ballroom at the Country Club was beautifully candlelit with whites, creams, and gold. More than anything, Ashley and Jami wanted their guests to have great food, great music, and a great time and the celebration lasted well into the night.

Congratulations Ashley and Jami and thank you for letting us capture your wedding day in such a special location!

Bethany described the feel of her New England fall wedding as “ Woodsy Elegant”. The couple chose 11/11/11 as their wedding date and wanted to keep fall in mind without the traditional expected “fall wedding look”. So they brought in browns, greens and the grooms love for the outdoors.

Bethany works in the wedding and event industry for Chad Michael Peters so, of course every detail was perfectly planned. The cake was beautifully simple with a vine throughout  & an actual tree trunk stand. The element of green was brought in, as it is both the bride and grooms favorite color. The bride chose brown bridesmaids dresses with one shoulder, a pleated bodice & beaded ruffle trim. The girls looked lovely and were a perfect compliment to the groomsmen in their grey suits. Since green and brown flowers are not the “easiest to come by ” they chose to incorporate purple into their bouquets. The table linens were done in a willow pintuck and the sweetheart and cake tables in a willow Abigail to add “a little something extra”. The napkins they chose were a Bengaline Pecan Shell to bring in the brown tones. The big surprise for Scott was his groom’s cake that was hunting themed.

Of course no wedding would be complete with out a candy bar! Bethany describes it perfectly.. “We both love candy, but who doesn’t? So, we had to do a candy bar with all purple, green and brown candy along with custom bags for guests to take home with them.”

Congratulations to Bethany and Scott and thank you for trusting Person + Killian Photography to document this day!

We were thrilled when Boston couple Karen and Doug inquired about photography for their destination wedding in Woodstock, Vermont. It is not often that we have the opportunity to travel during the busy fall season. We happened to have this particular November weekend available and were very much looking forward to it.

The wedding reception took place at the quaint Woodstock Inn & Resort. Prior to the ceremony in one of the towns’ historic churches, we stopped at a nearby covered bridge for some formal photographs. This made for the perfect setting for wedding party and family photos.

Below are a few of our favorite photographs from the day. Congratulations Karen + Doug and thank you for thinking of Person + Killian Photography for your wedding day!

This post was written by Jill Person of Person + Killian Photography and filed under Destination Wedding Photography in Woodstock, Vermont.

“A combination of Art Deco and elegant…” This was how Ashley, one of our recent brides, described the inspiration for her State Room Boston wedding in downtown Boston.

After getting ready at the Langham Hotel, we went to Post Office Square, where we were able to get some beautiful images of the couple. This was a perfect backdrop for the couple’s first look.

From there, we went to Boston’s Long Wharf. Not only does the wharf have a great history, it also provided a us with a multitute of perfect locations for some classic Boston waterfront and cityscape photographs. We love the energy and playfulness that Ashley and Scott brought to their images.

Their beatiful Jewish wedding ceremony (followed by cocktail hour and reception) were held in the Harborside Salon at the State Room. The room itself is beautiful, but it also provides a view that is absolutely stunning.

Congratulations, Ashley and Scott, and thank you for selecting Person + Killian to photograph your beautiful Boston wedding. You were a wonderful couple to work with, and we wish you the best!

Person + Killian Photography recently got a mini-tour of some of Boston’s finest locales for the wedding of Katherine and Ronnie. Katherine works for The Best of Boston, LTD., so she already knew what she was looking for in her wedding photographers and locations.

The day began at The Ames Hotel, where the bridal party got ready. This is a fairly new hotel, so we were excited to have an opportunity to shoot in a new venue. Not only is it full of natural light, but it also offers a great view of downtown Boston!

Before the ceremony, we made two stops to get some pictures. The first, for formals, was at the always-beautiful Boston Public Garden. The second stop, per Ronnie’s request, was at the Boston Harbor Hotel for a quick photo under the arch.

From there, we headed to the ceremony site – the Old North Church in Boston’s historic North End. Situated right on the Freedom Trail, the church provided us a great location to capture some beautiful images.

One of our favorite shots of the day was this photo of little Annie, the adorable flower girl.

Following the ceremony, the celebration moved to the Hampshire House on Beacon St. The Library (just one of the rooms Hampshire House has to offer) boasts floor-to-ceiling bookshelves and a gorgeous marble fireplace, which help create a cozy, intimate atmosphere for dining.

All in all, it was a perfect day. We had the joy of photographing a wonderful couple, as well as visiting some of Boston’s best venues. We also always enjoy doing events at the Hampshire House. Thank you to Michelle Reid and her team. As always, they were so great to work with!

Congratulations, Katherine and Ronnie!

Happy wedding day, indeed! Even though we weren’t there as guests, Person + Killian Photography was thrilled to spend the day at the gorgeous Hyatt Harborside for Stefanie and Michael’s Boston wedding. Overlooking Boston Harbor, the Hyatt’s unique location provides an exceptional view of the city, making it one of Boston’s most scenic wedding venues.

The bridesmaids wore knee-length dresses and carried lovely blue and ivory bouquets. When we asked Stefanie what had inspired these colors, she said this: “We wanted to achieve simple elegance. I chose navy, silver, and ivory as inspiration colors, because I felt they were timeless and didn’t dictate a season. To me, they will always be classic colors that will never go out of style.”

Because Michael is a Boston firefighter, they knew that their wedding album would not be complete without a picture or two of the newlyweds in front of one of the city’s fire trucks!

Even as darkness fell, guests were treated to a stunning vista. What had been a beautiful, sun-lit view of the harbor during the afternoon became a dazzling view of the night skyline once the sun went down.

Stefanie and Michael, thank you for choosing Person + Killian Photography. We had a wonderful time capturing your special day! Congratulations!
