Recent newlyweds Alana and Andy were in search of a wedding venue that could incorporation the ideas and inspirations that they both loved.  The Estate at Moraine Farm was exactly what they were looking for. Located on 175 acres of conservation land and forest overlooking Whenham Lake, this unique North Shore location offers farm to table catering by Fireside Catering that fit perfectly with the rustic look and feel the couple was going for.

Alana loves the website Style Me Pretty and used it to add some unique ideas to personalize this historic Beverly property including custom chalkboard signs, burlap accents on the bouquets and cocktail tables. When guests arrived, they were treated to a pre-ceremony cocktail hour that included refreshing drinks from mason jars.

Place cards were created on personalized packets of seeds of various herbs and spices (which were also used for the table names). For the reception under the tent, chalkboard signs were also used for the menus at each table at the reception along with homemade sweet jams made by sister property Gibbet Hill Farm for the favors.  The colors peach, green and graphite and gray were chosen by the couple and used in the bouquets, centerpieces and attire and worked perfectly with the natural surroundings.

Before the perfect evening celebration concluded, the couple exited the estate and boarded the trolley through a tunnel of their guest with sparklers. So fun! Congratulations Alana and Andy! We loved capturing such a fun and inspired wedding for you and your families.

Stephanie and James wanted to keep the feeling of “old world” early Boston alive at their beautiful Downtown Boston wedding which included two historic buildings.

The day began at the Omni Parker House, a building that has been around since the 1850’s, right in the heart of Downtown Boston. Stephanie got dressed and ready in the hotel with her friends and family, with a funky pair of custom blue wedding shoes completing her outfit! In the meantime James was preparing for the day with his own group, and although the couple didn’t see each other before the ceremony, they did exchange wedding day cards to each other.

The next stop was the Cathedral of the Holy Cross in Boston’s South End, another historic 1850’s building, for the catholic ceremony. This cathedral definitely has an old-world Boston feel — with high vaulted ceilings and lots of stained glass, it always makes for great pictures. We stuck around the church after the ceremony for a few pictures with the newlyweds and their wedding party before heading back to the Omni Parker House for the party.

The reception took place in the Omni’s Rooftop Ballroom, looking colorful and elegant with classic white table settings and pink and purple uplighting. Everyone was happy to celebrate well into the night with the newlyweds!

Congratulations to Stephanie and James, we had a blast sharing this day with you!

Downtown Boston Wedding at the historic Omni Parker House of Stephanie and James

Earlier this month we had the pleasure of photographing the Hotel Marlowe Cambridge wedding of Emily & Sean. When we asked the bride about the look and feel of her wedding she described it as “A celebration of “us” focused on an amazing New England day for all of our guests with a loving and whimsical atmosphere”.

After the first look and some fun formal photos with the wedding party, Emily and Sean headed inside the hotel for their Ketubah signing before walking down the isle.

The colors of the day were marine blue and lemonade yellow and which were incorporated in everything from the wedding party attire, beautiful floral and birch chuppah and ballroom décor.

Just one of the many reasons that the couple loved the Hotel Marlowe was that it is located right next to a public garden on The Charles River where their ceremony was held. Emily and Sean love that in the future, they can always go back to the spot together and relive their special day.

Thank you to Emily and Sean and all your friends and family for being such a delight to work with!  We had a great time capturing your beautiful wedding day.

The Cambridge Wedding of Emily and Sean took place at the Hotel Marlowe with the outdoor ceremony in public park next door overlooking The Charles River. The month of June kicked off for Person + Killian  with the three-day Cape Cod wedding photography extravaganza of Lauren and Alex. We are so excited to share some of the photos of this beautiful celebration.

The couple describe themselves as “Total city kids that grew up going to the Cape every summer and just could not imagine getting married anywhere else. We wanted to be in our favorite location but incorporate the dramatic and glamorous aspects of an urban wedding. We decided on pearl and sea glass blues and greens for our color palate to bring in the shades of the beach without being too literal.”

We started with the wedding rehearsal dinner and welcome party at the Chatham Wayside Inn in downtown Chatham, MA. The bride and groom were joined by an intimate group of family and friends on a perfect Spring evening. After cocktail hour on the terrace everyone headed into the dining room for dinner and a few pre-wedding toasts.

The events of day two all took place at one of Cape Cod’s luxury Oceanside wedding resort – the Wequassett Resort and Golf Club.

After Lauren and her bridal party finished getting ready in the Cape Villa it was off to the waterfront for the couple’s “First Look”. Pleasant Bay provided the perfect backdrop for all of the formal photos of both the couple and their wedding party prior to the ceremony.

One of the most fun elements of the whole weekend came with the personal touches the bride and groom put into all of the little details. We love that all guests were given sunglasses on their way down to the ceremony with a sign that said “You Might Be Blinded By Our Love”!

After a picture perfect ceremony it was off to the tent for cocktail hour. While guests relaxed and enjoyed hors’ devours, they were encouraged to leave advise and well wishes for the newlyweds on Cape Cod postcards that were left in a vintage suitcase that matched the décor perfectly!

Lauren and Alex described the ceremony and cocktail hour as “bringing in the natural beauty of the Cape with blues and greens to complement the Wequassett’s décor.”

The main ballroom looked absolutely stunning and included custom-made white linens from Be Our Guest rentals and chandeliers, draping and lighting from Ormonde Productions.

Lauren described the inspiration for the reception as “Capturing the urban “wow” glamour with dramatic white on the tables and tall calla lilies in glass vases”.

As a wedding favor, guests were given hand-painted aprons by Blue Water Fish Rubbings that included one of the couple’s favorite recipes.

Day three of the weekend celebration continued when the guests traveled from Chatham down to Wellfleet to the Chequessett Yacht & Country Club for a post wedding brunch and clam bake.

The official “host” of the Clambake was the couple’s pooch Tugg (a mini-poodle mix) who took a few moments to pose with the newlyweds for a few photos during the festivities.

Congratulations Lauren and Alex. It was an absolute pleasure capturing your beautiful wedding weekend. We had a blast!

Last weekend Person + Killian Photography had the pleasure of photographing the Liberty Hotel Boston wedding of Lisa & Beth. Not only are Lisa & Beth two of the sweetest people, but they have the most adorable children as well. It was certainly an honor to spend the day with all of them and document such a beautiful and loving couple and their family.

The intimate affair took place at The Liberty Hotel Boston and the couple chose black, white & fuchsia as their color inspiration. They also incorporated skeleton keys and brocade details throughout the wedding. Both brides looked stunning in wedding gowns custom designed by Daniel Faucher, and everyone enjoyed celebrating the night away with this great couple and their family.

A big thank you to Lisa and Beth for trusting Person + Killian Photography to be a part of this special day.

Every winter Person + Killian Photography has a party to say thank you to our incredible industry friends. It is our way of showing gratitude to everyone who puts their trust and support behind us and our work. We are so blessed to have met and worked with so many talented professionals and are truly grateful for the friendships we have made. We look forward to throwing this event each year and can’t thank everyone enough for being there!

Our “Winter Wonderland” event was produced & designed by the one and only Amy Kimball, who’s vision never fails to wow us! The party was hosted at the Boston Public Library and was filled with delicious food from The Catered Affair.  The beautiful floral arrangements were the signature touch of our dear and talented friend Chad Michael Peters and the night would not have been the same with out the collaboration of Port Lighting,Generations cinemastories, Stephanie Solomon (Rentals Unlimited), Larry Chan (Signs and Prints) and Kupah James who rocked the house !

A big thank you to The Catered Affair at the Boston Public Library and their entire staff for being such a pleasure to work with!

The photobooth is always one of our favorite highlights from the event!

Person + Killian Industry Party 2011 from GENERATIONS cinemastories on Vimeo.

A few years back Person + Killian Photography had the pleasure of photographing the wedding of a dear friend in the industry, Stephanie (Penn) Solomon. Since then, we have grown to absolutely adore her entire family! Not only are they sweet and loving, they are extremely fun and certainly know how to throw a lavish affair! So, when Steph’s little sister Heather got engaged, we knew her  Spring Valley Country Club wedding to Adrian would be classic “Penn” style – lavish, lush, fun, and a blast to photograph!

Here are a few of our favorite moments from Heather & Adrain’s Jewish wedding at the lovely Spring Valley Country Club. When we asked Heather what the inspiration for her wedding was, she said, A 50’s super club filled with aubergine, silver, black & white colors.

It was great to work once again with the talented Tasha Bracken of a SD Events who described this wedding as modern chic with the use of different chairs, tables and linens and the glow bar.  The arrangements were ultra-modern and edgy with the use of large cylinders as was the escort card table with mirror top.

A big thanks to the dynamic duo, Jack and Naomi of GENERATIONS cinemastories for always being a pleasure to work with!

Last but not least, thank you to the Penn’s for trusting us with another important moment in your lives. As always, it was a pleasure capturing these memories for you.

Every year Person + Killian Photography has a cocktail party to say thank you to our amazing industry friends. This is our way of showing gratitude to everyone who puts their trust and support behind us and our work. We are so blessed to have met and worked with so many talented professionals and are grateful for the friendships we have made over the years. Our industry party is a great way to say thank you!!

This year our party was at The Loft in South Boston. The loft-style space was the perfect backdrop for our modern party. Colors of red and black popped up everywhere in the decor, and we loved the romantic rose petal floor piece! The night certainly would not have been a success with out the hard work and collaboration of our dear friends Amy Kimball (Amy Kimball Events) , Chad Michael Peters (Chad Michael Peters) , Naomi & Jack (Generations cinemastories), Stephanie Solomon (Rentals Unlimited) and Larry Chan (Signs and Prints).

Also, a big thank you for the talented work of MAX ultimate food, Baker Street Productions, Brian Deichman (Immedia) and Jon Tadillo (The Image Standard).

Recently, Person + Killian Photography was asked to be part of a team for Style Me Pretty’s “From Inspiration to Reality Challenge.” Style Me Pretty, the “Ultimate Wedding Blog” gives its loyal readers the chance to share their dream weddings on the website by creating inspiration boards.  Style Me Pretty then challenges the crème de la crème of the wedding industry to choose a winning board and bring the ideas to life. This time, they turned to a team of Boston Wedding Professionals.

The winning board: When Life Gives You Lemons

Tasha Bracken of SD Events describes the vision that our team of Boston wedding professionals saw and ran with:

The winning board selected by our group had a vintage feel with a lot of classic elegance. The combination of teal and yellow was really playful, yet sophisticated. We’re seeing a lot of vintage influences in today’s weddings.

The first vision was the location. We wanted an industrial open space with interesting architecture, brick and beams. The Loftwas the perfect setting and gave us the foundation for the other elements we brought in.

For the attire, we went retro. The bride was in a classic gown from Flair Bridesmaid Boutique with a pill box veil. The inspiration from this came from classic fashion icons such as Jacqueline Bouvier Kennedy, Grace Kelly, etc. We went with a navy dress for the bridesmaid as to not be to “matchy” with the teal incorporated throughout the reception.

For the escort card table we took vintage 45s and “glammed them up” with silver spray paint and yellow highlights. We incorporated ostrich feathers to give a flirtatious feel.

The table décor brings in the teal and yellow with accents of purple and fun ostrich feathers. We brought in a vintage looking linen and accented with modern pieces for juxtaposition against the other elements. With candles and hanging crystals, we wanted a feel of fun and romance.

We also incorporated music to really give the vibe an authentic feel. Music is such a big part of weddings and does factor into the décor and design elements. We were interested in seeing what the band for this couple might look like and how they would also incorporate a vintage, classic feel. We brought in a retro microphone, dressed the lead female singer in peacock feather headpiece and teal dress. The male musicians had hats or slicked back hair.

The cake from Jenny Cakes was a fabulous bright teal color with yellow accents and a playful steel gray linen accented with tulle.

P+K would like to send a very special thank you to all of our amazing colleagues that contributed and helped bring this inspiration board to life.
