It was destination Boston for New York couple Ashley and Ben for their Boston Public Library wedding. Everything about their day from getting ready and the first look at the picturesque Fairmont Copley Plaza to their ceremony and reception at the library was picture perfect and we are so happy to have been chosen to capture the day for this great couple.

From Ashley – “We have been together for 7 years, so we always knew that we wanted a small and intimate wedding, surrounded by only our closest family and friends who know us and love us inside and out and have watched us grow together a couple. Our wedding was just that- you could feel the love, warmth and genuine happiness and joy permeate through the entire Boston Public Library. It was something that really stood out. That was one of the most special aspects. It was also really incredible to have everyone in Boston together – most of our guests, ourselves included, live in New York City- but bringing everyone together in Boston, where we first met, (and where bride’s parents met!) in the most beautiful, elegant, classic setting of the Boston Public Library, was so meaningful and a memory that will forever fill our hearts.”

Ashley and Ben chose Marc Hall Design to create their dream vision that complimented the stunning spaces of the library perfectly. For their traditional Jewish ceremony in the Courtyard Restaurant, the chuppah was created out of multiple shades of blush and pink as to not hint too much for the reception centerpieces. Designer David DiCicco says “Every bride says they want something different, but Ashley wanted to make sure that every centerpiece had a different shape and was filled with color. The traditional white wedding was swapped with the fall vision for gorgeous jewel tones, shades of sapphire, ruby, amethyst, garnet and topaz.”

A big highlight for the newlyweds was their first dance. “We combined the song we recorded from our Save the Date video with other favorite Justin Timberlake (our favorite artist) songs mashed up and worked on the choreographed dance for months to surprise our guests! Everyone was so excited and it really got the energy going for the whole night! It was so fun practicing together for so many months to finally perform live for all of our friends and family!”

A big thank you to Bryanne, Erica and their team at The Catered Affair at the Boston Public Library and congratulations Ashley and Ben!

Situated right in the heart of the Back Bay in Boston, the Four Seasons Hotel is one of our favorite venues for a summer wedding. The location was perfect for the traditional Jewish celebration for newlyweds Jane and David.

Before the guests arrived, Jane and David met for their first look on the grand staircase followed by photos across the street in the Public Garden on a perfect summer day.  Following their Ketubah ceremony, Jane and David said their “I do”s in a traditional Jewish wedding ceremony, encircled by their loved ones and underneath a gorgeous birch and ivy chuppah in the Governor’s Room. Everyone enjoyed cocktails and hors d’oeuvres in the ballroom foyer before heading into the ballroom for the reception.

The Four Seasons Hotel ballroom’s clean and elegant atmosphere was perfectly enhanced by the touches of white, gold, and summer pink in Jane and David’s wedding decor. Crystal vases held a mix of high and low floral arrangements, pouring over with pink, white, and lush green flowers — the ideal accent for a summer wedding in Boston. Guests enjoyed drinks, dinner, and a toast from the bride and groom, while dancing away the night with the help of music from band District 21. It was a beautiful celebration of a wonderful couple — special thanks to Jane and David for letting us be a part of your wedding day, and to Philip Deschamps and his entire team at the Four Seasons Hotel.

The Museum of Science Boston was the perfect destination for the recent spring wedding of Elyse and Hari. After getting ready and a first look in the court yard of The Liberty Hotel, Elyse, Hari and their wedding party wanted to take advantage of some of Boston’s more hidden gem spaces for their photos. We stopped at Post Office Square and then headed to North Point Park before heading across the street to the Museum.

Elyse and Hari fell in love with the Pavillion space outside of the Museum with the traditional Jewish ceremony right on the Charles River overlooking both the Boston and Cambridge skylines. Dinner and dancing followed both under the Pavilion and adjoining tent on the water.

From the bride: “We wanted a romantic, elegant, whimsical and relaxed day with a slightly bohemian feel. For design, we wanted to focus on the greenery of the flowers for the bridal party and family. The colors of the day were a mix of soft blues, the floral greenery, gray and silver.” With the tent nestled in the trees on the waterfront, everything came together perfectly.

A big thank you to newlyweds Elyse and Hari and to the team at the Museum of Science Boston for always being so wonderful to work with!

Leah and Craig’s sweet fall wedding at Boston’s Fairmont Copley Plaza was full of tradition and love. We began the crisp fall day joining the wedding parties in their suites at the Fairmont. We found Leah and her loved ones preparing for the couple’s First Look. Leah dressed in a gorgeous ruffled gown from Michael De Paulo with sparkly Jimmy Choo shoes. A lush and light bouquet of mixed fall flowers completed her stunning look. We captured a few fun moments of Craig before he dressed in a formal black-tie tuxedo and we made our way to the much anticipated First Look.

After a private and tender moment seeing each other for the first time, Leah and Craig readied for their Bedeken or Veiling Ceremony. This Jewish tradition involves the veiling of the bride — the bedeken — “where the bride and groom’s families meet and the groom confirms that the bride is his intended, then covers her face with a veil.” (and what a veil it was!) Immediately following, the wedding ceremony was in the Grand Ballroom under a customary wedding chuppah. A white aisle runner laden with petals led to a polished and reflective chuppah that was surrounded by lush floral arrangements. After the traditional ceremony, guests headed to cocktail hour where the atmosphere was cheerful, full with great conversations. Guests made their way back to the transformed Grand Ballroom for the reception. The ballroom was radiant with a complementing palette of golds and creams with pops of fall colors. Tall floral arrangements with candlelight and gold-rimmed mirrored table numbers felt right at home in the ballroom. Full of laughter and celebrations, the evening continued with toasts, dinner and lots and lots of dancing!

We adored capturing this sweet & loving couple’s day; Leah and Craig – you and your families are both gracious and kind – thank you for letting Person + Killian Photography capture this exceptional day! As always, thank you to our fellow vendors, and Tracey Gavin and her skillful team at the Fairmont!

Dana and Garhett’s fall inspired Four Seasons Wedding with Hopple Popple was full of classic romance. The details of this wedding still have us smiling. For starters, Garhett proposed with the help of Nala, the couple’s dog. Garhett created an adorable customized dog-tag that said “Dana” on one side and “Will You Marry Me?” on the other. We joined the bridal party at the Four Season’s where preparations for the day were in full swing.

The ceremony took place under a chuppah of white roses, hydrangea and greenery that framed the couple as they exchanged vows in front of their loved ones. After the ceremony, guests enjoyed cocktail hour, with a striking escort card table that greeted guests. The celebrating continued into the reception with a modern autumn palette. The tablescapes featured hints of soft pinks balanced with creams and golds; lush centerpieces of exotic and traditional flowers.  A draped wall of candlelight and flowers anchored the space and provided a warm backdrop for the band.

After toasts and dinner, dancing and dessert was on the agenda as the guests enjoyed the many fun details Dana and Gahrett put together. From the wedding cake topped with a dog-tag welcoming the newly married “Solomans” to the local artist who painted a portrait of the wedding as a keepsake for the couple. And of course, who could forget the Halloween-inspired favors specially made by the mother of the bride.

Congratulations again, Dana and Gahrett, thank you for letting Person + Killian capture this special day. Also thank you to Jim Peters and his team at the Four Seasons as well as Linda, Aya and Julie and their team at Hopple Popple for creating the perfect day for such a fantastic couple.

Shelley and Spencer wanted a riverfront Boston wedding that would truly capture the essence of this beautiful city. The Royal Sonesta Boston, with it’s scenic views of the famed Charles River was the perfect venue to grant that wish. We were thrilled to join the couple and their guests for their celebration!

Before the ceremony, the couple decided to have a moment to themselves. This touching moment took place outside, down by the Charles. Shelley looked stunning and elegant in her James Clifford lace gown. The scenic Boston city skyline was a breathtaking backdrop for their formal portraits. Taking advantage of the sunny and warm weather, the couple were joined by the wedding party for some formal and fun photo opportunities.

Under an intricate floral chuppah, featuring mixed fresh flowers and draping vines, Shelley and Spencer were wed  in a traditional and moving Jewish ceremony.

The Grand Ballroom was aglow in candle light, illuminating the modern floral touches and elegant stemware that sparkled throughout the room. With romantic twinkle lights setting the mood, the newlyweds had their first dance, before their guests joined in with an enthusiastic Hora!

Thank you to Jim Arnello, his talented team at the Royal Sonesta, and Carol Silverston of the Original Touch for coordinating this gorgeous event. Congratulations and Mazel Tov Shelley and Spencer!

When it came time to select the perfect place for their Boston Wedding, Jamie and Eric chose The Mandarin Oriental Hotel. This classic elegance meets traditional celebration took place this Fall at the Back Bay venue.

The bride got ready in the Beijing Room at the Mandarin with her family and bridesmaids. From there, they all headed outside to make the most of the natural light for formals and Jamie and Eric’s first look. The lavender and ivory bouquets were a perfect compliment to the deep purple bridesmaids dresses and the bride’s stunning Monique Lhuillier strapless wedding gown.

Prior to the ceremony, Jamie, Eric and their close family and friends joined in the traditional signing of the Ketubah before walking down the isle.  The couple’s traditional Jewish ceremony took place in the ballroom of the Mandarin with a perfect blend of oriental luxury and Bostonian style. All eyes were on the couple as they stood beneath the floral chuppah accented with warm lighting.  Following the ceremony guests headed to the foyer for cocktail hour while the space was transformed.

The ballroom was lit perfectly with white candles and pink and purple lighting that accentuated the decor. Following the first dance and lively hora, Jamie and Eric along with their guests, enjoyed dancing to the sounds of the Eye To Eye Band. A big thank you to the entire team at The Mandarin Oriental Hotel Boston and Congratulations Jamie and Eric!

Our December kicked off with the fantastic two day wedding celebration of Linda and John. Friday began at the couple’s home where we had a chance take some photos of the bride, groom and their beautiful family before heading off to the ceremony at Temple Beth Avodah.

Both Linda and John wanted to be surrounded by their close family for such a special occasion. After the Ketubah signing the Rabbi invited the whole family to join the couple under the Chuppah for their wedding vows.

Saturday began at the Four Seasons Hotel where Linda and John got ready followed by a few more photos before heading off to the reception.

The celebration began with the bride, groom and their guests at Artists for Humanity – EpiCenter designed, catered and coordinated by The Catered Affair.

Following cocktail hour, guests were moved into the reception. The modern decor, lighting and design (including floral installations and chandeliers) created a chic, sophisticated and elegant atmosphere for dinner and dancing.

The night kicked into high gear with the Hora and entertainment from a NYC Swing band that kept the party going all evening long.

We had an absolute blast capturing this important weekend of events for such a wonderful couple. Congratulations and thank you Linda and John!

Classic. Traditional. Black Tie. These are just a few of the words Rachel used to describe her inspiration for her Belmont Country Club wedding to Billy, but Person + Killian Photography was there, and we think it was all of those things and more!

The entire event took place at the Belmont Country Club in Belmont, MA, which, of course, made a lovely backdrop for pictures.  The lush golf greens served as a gorgeous contrast to the rich cabernet bridesmaid gowns and the crisp, black tuxedoes worn by the groomsmen.

We enjoy all of the weddings we do, but one thing we really loved about this one was the way in which Rachel and Billy were able to incorporate so many traditions into their special day.

It’s becoming more and more common for brides and grooms to see one another before the ceremony, but it’s definitely not every day that they have a traditional Bedeken ceremony, as well! (For those of you who aren’t familiar with that, it is a traditional Jewish ceremony where the groom identifies his bride and then puts the blusher on her to make sure he is marrying the right woman.)

Rachel and Billy were wed under a traditional chuppah, and the couple was also able to incorporate the glass-breaking, Tish, and Ketubah ceremonies into their celebration.

And of course, their reception would not have been complete without the time-honored Horah!

Thank you, Rachel and Billy! We had a wonderful time sharing your beautiful day and capturing all of these special moments!

Person + Killian Photography had the opportunity to once again photograph a wedding at the Boston Public Library for the wedding of Becky and Ari. The BPL, once a hidden jewel, is now the site of some of Boston’s most magnificent weddings thanks to the team at The Catered Affair. This was certainly the case for the newlyweds who utilized the picturesque space for all of the festivities of their day including formal photos atop the grand marble staircase.

The ceremony took place in the Courtyard Restaurant where Becky and Ari exchanged vows (along with lots of smiles and laughter) under the beautiful chuppah designed by Jeri Solomon Floral Designs.  From there it was cocktails in both the Map Room and the courtyard.

The festivities continued for the reception, which took place in the library’s Popular Reading Room. The couple and their guests wined, dined and danced the night away to the live performances from Java Jive. A couple of the guests even got involved with the band. One guest played a few songs on the trumpet and later in the evening there was a spectacular song performance from a family member that left everyone in awe.

Congratulations Becky and Ari! We had a fantastic time capturing your day that was full of wonderful moments throughout.

Recently, Person + Killian Photography had the chance to work at the Renaissance Golf Club for Julie and Phil’s wedding. From the first day that Jill met with the couple she was looking forward capturing their big day.

With the combination of a fabulous new venue, perfect weather for an outdoor ceremony, Julie’s gorgeous hair piece, polka-dot bridesmaids dresses (love them!), and atypical brown tuxedos for the guys, the day was full of great photo ops for the newlyweds.

Thank you to Julie and Phil for having P+K document your special day and to our dear friend Trish for sending this wonderful couple our way!
