We were thrilled to be back at the State Room Boston for the gorgeous wedding of Sarah and Mark — the couple mixed classic, modern colors of black and white with fun pops of purple for their spring wedding.

We joined Sarah at the nearby Millennium Hotel to get the day started. We photographed Sarah and her bridesmaids in the lobby of the Millennium while we waited for Mark for the first look. The beautiful red furniture and natural wooden walls of the lounge in the Millennium Hotel was the perfect setting for a romantic and intimate first look. After the first look, we spent some time taking formal portraits with their wedding party in the lobby of the hotel before starting the walk over to the State Room.

Faneuil Hall was the perfect backdrop for some classic Boston photos of Sarah and Mark. We took advantage of the beautiful spring day in Boston, and got some great photographs with the wedding party outside of Quincy Market before continuing our walk next door to the State Room.

The wedding ceremony took place high above downtown Boston in the State Room’s Great Room, overlooking the beautiful Boston waterfront and city below. The hallway leading into the Great Room was customized with a gallery of personal images of the couple and their family for guests to enjoy as they walked into the ceremony. Floral arrangements of purple and white orchids flanked either side of the altar, and guests sat in classic chiavari ballroom chairs to watch Sarah and Mark say their “I do”s.

While guests enjoyed cocktails and hors d’oeuvres on the upper level of the Great Room, the ceremony space was transformed for the evening reception. White linens were paired with classic chocolate brown chairs for a clean and modern look, and bright purple floral centerpieces gave each and every table a wonderful pop of color. As the sun started to set over the city, the walls lit up with a beautiful wash of purple uplighting and the votive candles on the tabletops added to the warm glow. Following their first dance, toasts and dinner, the dance floor was opened and guests celebrated alongside the newlyweds.

Special thank you to Sarah and Mark for including us in your beautiful wedding day, and for being so much fun to work with. Congratulations!

Sarah + John’s beautifully classic Four Seasons Hotel Boston wedding combined traditional Boston elegance with a touch of fun summer flair for a really special and unforgettable evening. With the design and floral expertise of Carol Silverston of The Original Touch and the immaculate coordination of the Four Seasons Boston’s Philip Deschamps, each detail was stunning, fun, and perfectly executed!

Sarah + John combined classic wedding colors of white, gold, and pearl with fun pops of navy throughout their design and decor. Sarah wore a beautiful asymmetrical wedding gown paired with navy blue  heels and a soft white bouquet.

We did the couple’s first look on the Four Seasons elegant grand staircase, followed by a few quick photographs of the smiling bride and groom inside the hotel. From there we headed across the street for some wedding formals in the Boston Public Garden. The weather was perfect for a summer wedding, and we had plenty of time to get pictures of the whole wedding party in the Garden as well as some romantic summer shots of Sarah + John alone prior to the ceremony.

The traditional Catholic wedding ceremony took place at the historic Cathedral of the Holy Cross in downtown Boston — one of our favorite Boston wedding ceremony venues. Following the vows, it was back to the Four Seasons  for cocktails in the ballroom foyer. The wedding reception in the ballroom was fresh, summery, and elegant, with bright white linens and beautiful pearl-colored ballroom chairs. The clear glass charger plates were lined with a touch of gold, and the floral centerpieces mixed classic white blossoms with pops of green, pink, and purple. Sarah + John had two wedding cakes — a classic and elegant tiered cake topped with white roses for the couple, and a fun golf-themed cake just for the groom. Overall it was a beautiful summer Four Seasons Hotel Boston wedding, and we loved being able to share it with the happy newlyweds and their family.

Special thanks to Carol Silverston and Philip Deschamps for always being so wonderful to work with! Congratulations Sarah + John!!

We love it when two lifelong Bostonians decide to get hitched in the city they grew up in! Erica and Brad wanted their wedding to be elegant and traditional, with a distinct feeling of “classic Boston”. The historic Omni Parker House located right in downtown Boston was the perfect location for their beautiful spring wedding.

As well as paying tribute to the city they love, Brad’s military service played an important role in this couple’s special day. Brad himself has recently returned from duty in Afghanistan, so they decided to incorporate the colors, details, and traditions of the Marine Corps into several aspects of their wedding. Following the Ketubah signing, the traditional Jewish ceremony took place in the Omni Parker House’s Press Room — after the I do’s, Erica and Brad exited under an archway of fellow Marine Corps’ swords. Following cocktails up on the 15th floor, which included a harpist and a live-action sushi station, guests moved into the Omni Parker House Ballroom for the reception.

The couple chose gold and navy blue as their color inspiration, to perfectly compliment Brad’s Marine Corps uniform. The military tributes continued throughout the evening — including the cutting of the cake with Brad’s sword. We loved all the personal touches that the couple added to this wedding, their love of Boston and the military inspiration really made this day special for the newlyweds.

Congratulations Erica and Brad, and thank you for letting us capture your beautiful wedding day!!!

We had a blast ringing in 2013 at Allie and Joe’s InterContinental Hotel Boston Wedding this New Year’s Eve! What better time to be surrounded by your friends and family and throw a great celebration than on the last night of the year.

Allie and Joe definitely knew how to throw a great party, with classic colors of black, white and silver popping up throughout the decor for a fun and festive New Year’s Eve theme wedding. After getting ready in the rooms of the InterContinental, the bride, groom, and guests headed to the gorgeous Our Lady Comforter of the Afflicted Church in Waltham for the ceremony. The church was gorgeous, with surrounding stained glass and soft candlelight creating the perfect atmosphere for an evening winter wedding.

Before heading into the InterContinental‘s fabulous Rose Kennedy Ballroom for the party to begin, guests enjoyed cocktails in the foyer. New Year’s hats and customized glasses were passed out in preparation for the big countdown and guests were serenaded by the North Shore Acappella group. The Ballroom itself was stunning — silver linens topped with white floral centerpieces by William Mizuta, white dance floor, and custom lighting by Suzanne B. Lowell including an “A” and “J” monogram.

After all the formalities of the wedding were underway, it was time for the New Year’s Party to begin! The dessert buffet opened as soon as the midnight countdown had finished, and Allie and Joe welcomed 2013 with a great celebration. Thank you both for a wonderful New Year’s Eve, we had so much fun sharing this night with you!

Emily and Dustin celebrated their Mandarin Oriental Boston wedding on a beautiful (and blustery!) day right in downtown Boston’s Back Bay neighborhood.

The couple took advantage of the great outdoor space, having their traditional “first look” in the Mandarin’s Courtyard. We were able to get some great photographs with the bride and groom outside, despite all the wind, before moving inside the hotel for some formals.

The couple had a beautiful traditional Jewish ceremony, followed by a stunning reception in the Mandarin’s ballroom. Emily & Dustin’s wedding was classic, traditional, and very elegant — a simple color palette of steel grey and white was made very warm and intimate with lots of soft lighting, giving the room a candlelit glow. As always Florist William Mizuta designed gorgeous arrangements for the event and each table was accented with warm pinspot lighting, thanks to the team at Suzanne B. Lowell Lighting. We loved being able to capture this great couple on their wedding day, congratulations Emily and Dustin and thank you for choosing Person + Killian Photography!

Person + Killian love photographing weddings at our Back Bay neighboring hotel – the Mandarin Oriental Boston. Recently, we had the pleasure of capturing the wedding day of Alyx and Drew there.

The bride and groom started the day early, getting dressed and ready in the rooms of the hotel. A pre-wedding gift of diamond earrings arrived at the bridal suite from Drew before Alyx had even gotten her dress on! After everyone was dressed and ready to go, the couple took advantage of the summer weather and had their first look outside in the Mandarin’s outdoor Sitting Grove. We took some great shots of the couple alone, before they were joined by their wedding party for some group formals. Following the group photos, we moved inside with the couple for photographs of the Mandarin’s beautiful indoor spaces before the ceremony.

The interfaith ceremony took place in the Ballroom, with both a Reverend and a Rabbi officiating. After the “I do”s, the party kicked off in the Oriental Gallery for cocktails and hors d’oeuvres. The look and feel of the ballroom reception was both classic and modern — gold place settings on white linens, with alternating tall and short white floral centerpieces on all the tables. The crowd was energetic, fun, and definitely ready to celebrate this great couple!

Congratulations Alyx and Drew, and thanks for being so fun to work with on your wedding day!

Christina and John wed this month in a beautifully classic Greek ceremony, with the reception held at the Four Seasons Hotel Boston.

The bride and groom spent the afternoon getting ready in their separate hotel rooms before heading off to the Hellenic College in Brookline for the ceremony. Christina’s grandfather, a member of the first graduating class of the College, played a special part in the day and helped officiate over the wedding ceremony. After the “I do”s and some quick shots in the church, we took advantage of the gorgeous summer day and brought the wedding party in to the Public Gardens for some photos.

It was a short walk back to the Four Seasons for some shots with the couple, while the rest of the guests and wedding party enjoyed cocktail hour. The hotel’s Aujourd’hui room was all set up for the reception, with classic white linens and colorful pink and purple centerpieces from Honey at Lotus Design. Everyone enjoyed Christina and John’s romantic first dance, as well as toasts from family and friends, and a traditional Greek dance to start off the evening.

Congratulations to Christina and John! We had a great time working with you, and thank you for choosing Person + Killian Photography!

Another beautiful Taj Boston wedding!

Sarah and Evan celebrated their special day at the always gorgeous Taj Boston surrounded by friends, family, and loved ones. We arrived just as the beautiful bride was getting the finishing touches on her hair and makeup, and as soon as the wedding gown was on we headed outside for some photos in the Boston Public Garden. The ladies looked classic and elegant in champagne colored bridesmaid dresses, and all three carried gorgeous white bouquets from William Mizuta Private Florist.

The couple chose not to see each other before the ceremony started, so as soon as everyone was ready to go it was off to the Arlington Street Church (conveniently located just a few blocks away) to start the wedding. We made it in just in time, by the time the ceremony was over rain moved in. While the guests headed back to the Taj to start the cocktail hour, we took advantage of the empty (and dry!) church to snap some pictures with the happy newlyweds. They eventually braved the rain, armed with an umbrella, to head back to the Taj for a few more pictures before the evening party began.

The Taj Ballroom was simply elegant — the couple wanted to keep it classic, romantic, and traditional. White, ivory, and subtle champagne colors filled the room, with beautiful gold linens adding flashes of bright color to the space. The beautifully classic white wedding cake held a special personal touch to the couple, it was topped with the very same cake-topper Sarah’s parents had at their wedding! There was no doubt about it that this was a crowd that was ready to celebrate all night, the dance floor was always packed and everyone (bride and groom included!) was certainly going to make this a party to remember.

Congratulations Sarah and Evan, it was such a pleasure working with you and your entire family!

Memorial Day Weekend is always a busy time for weddings, and this year was no exception! On Sunday evening Person + Killian Photography had a blast capturing the beautiful Taj Boston Spring wedding of Jill + Isaac high above downtown Boston on the Taj Hotel Rooftop.

After getting ready for the day in the hotel below, snapping a few pictures in the sunny Public Garden across the street, and signing the wedding Ketubah, the adorable couple traveled up to the rooftop for both the wedding ceremony and reception! A  beautiful Jewish ceremony led right into a night of fun and celebration — all against the breathtaking backdrop of downtown Boston, 17 stories up!

The event was modern and fun, the black and white checkerboard floor provided the perfect contrast to the bright pops of pink from the table decor and bridesmaid’s dresses. Mimosa’s vibrant spring flower arrangements and lighting from Boston Uplights brought even more splashes of color into this fabulous space!

Congratulations to the happy newlyweds, and thank you for letting Person + Killian be a part of your special day!

Recently the talented Katrina Hess, owner of Katrina Hess Makeup Artist moved her Newbury Street salon to a new location (115 Newbury Street right above Alex and Ani of Boston) . She asked us to come on over and take a few shots of this fabulous new space. We love what she has done with the setup and decor – especially the gorgeous crystal chandeliers!

Last week, Katrina hosted the ladies of Boston Magazine where they had relaxing facials before having their makeup done. We stopped by to snap a few photos of the group a the end of the evening. Thanks Katrina for thinking of us and congratulations on your beautiful new space!
