Just launched is the 2017 edition of Bliss Celebrataions magazine and we are excited to see the Fairmont Copley Plaza wedding of Kari and Evan grace the pages of this beautiful publication.

Thank you to Carol Silverston (The Original Touch) and Jodi Raphael (Jodi Raphael Events) and their teams for creating this stunning look and for always being a joy to work with!

“Modern Magnetism – A clean color palette of white and gold creates a feeling of refined glamour in the swanky hotel ballroom at The Fairmont Copley Plaza in Boston.

Kari had always loved the pure elegance of an all-white wedding with the richness of added gold accents. She knew this sophisticated combination was exactly what she wanted and so the planning began. Venue selection was simple since she fell in love instantly with the gilded, old-world architecture of the ballroom at The Fairmont Copley Plaza and knew it could be juxtaposed with modern décor. The combined talents of Jodi Raphael Events and Carol Silverston brought Kari’s vision to life. Long mirrored tables were adorned with pure white flora and glistening candles. Round tables surrounded by Lucite chairs were decorated with cascading orchids in tall crystal vases. Jodi and Carol were both amazing to work with. I had a distinct look and high expectations for how the décor would turn out and the result was flawless,” gushed Kari.”

Southern New England Weddings magazine is an annual wedding magazine that provides inspiration for those looking to wed anywhere in Southern New England including: Rhode Island and Newport, Boston, Cape Cod, Nantucket and Martha’s Vineyard, Coastal Connecticut and Eastern Massachusetts. We are delighted to see the real wedding of Simin and Nick in their most recent issue.

Simin & Nick – Milton, MA – by Stacey Marcus: When Simin Lee and Nicholas (Nick) Bodnar tied the knot in a beautiful backyard ceremony and reception at the bride’s parents’ home in Milton, Massachusetts, guests enjoyed the flavors of the couple’s Persian and Jewish heritages sprinkled with the sweetness of pure love. The couple originally met in Beijing at a Chinese immersion program in 2008 while undergraduate students at Harvard University. It wasn’t until they were both graduate students at Harvard Medical School that their love blossomed. “It was a nice time to start a relationship,” says Simin, who recalls studying for 12 hours straight an then cooking together or enjoying take-out.

The couple delighted in an inside joke about enchanting chocolate shop in Cambridge called L.A. Burdick Chocolates where girls huddle to drink hot chocolates and couples canoodle and share a little slice of romance. Simin and Nick said that they were not yet on “Burdick’s level” and never made it to the chocolate until Nick suggested they visit on a snowy night during the historic 2014 wicked winter. “It was a very sweet surprise when Nick dropped to one knee and proposed,” says Simin.

Family played a major role in the ceremony with a trio of officiants: Dr. Andrew Bodnar, father of the groom, and Fereydoun Nazem and William Lee, uncles of the bride. Simin’s father, Dr. Thomas Lee, gave a toast about how the couple’s sweet story illuminates the power of destiny. The breaking of the glass was particularly significant to Simin and Nick, who come from different cultural backgrounds and broke barriers to create a union of love, peace and understanding.

TKR16SS_NECover.inddWith freshly fallen snow on the ground throughout New England we could not be more excited to see the latest Spring/Summer 2016 issue of The Knot New England out on newsstands and in stores everywhere. The latest issue features the real of wedding of Meghan and Tim at Taj Boston. This gorgeous wedding was designed by the incredibly talented team at Marc Hall Design and we are thrilled to see it in print.

From The Knot “Meghan Altman (a national account director at GSK) and Tim Stoll (a senior director at BioMed Realty) pulled off a chic, modern wedding at Taj Boston in Boston, Massachusetts, with over-the-top floral arrangements and a sophisticated black, white and silver palette. A traditional Catholic ceremony at Cathedral of the Holy Cross preceded the reception, the 19th-century Gothic Revival architecture and tall arrangements of white cherry blossoms provided a dramatic backdrop for the occasion. For the reception, Meghan and Tim turned to Taj Boston, a 1927 landmark hotel with an enviable address overlooking Boston Public Garden. The pair passed on the venue’s many opulent jewel-box ballrooms, instead hosting the post-ceremony festivities on the roof, where guests profited from 180-degree views of the Boston skyline. The talented team at Marc Hall Design transformed the space into a modern-day Garden of Eden with suspended floral installations and fresh bunches of white peonies and calla lilies. Candlelight filled the room with a warm, ambient glow and details like place-inspired table names put a personal spin on the chic decor. The couple made sure no guest went hungry, filling cocktail hour and dinner with seemingly endless eats like tuna tartare, New York sirloin and more. The band Soho blew everyone out of the water and kept the party going late into the night. The couple surprised everyone with a crepe station, a nod to their engagement in Paris, France, and sent guests home with a few sweet treats. A tip from Meghan: “Decide as a couple what your top priorities are and stick with them. There is no need to fret about minute details that you simply don’t have time to get to. Spend time selecting your vendors and make sure you enjoy them. Trust the professionals you decide on and rely on them to create the vision you share. Enjoy the planning and the journey through your engagement.”

Thank you to The Knot New England for featuring one of our weddings and a big thank you again to Meghan and Tim for being such a joy to capture on their wedding day!

We are always excited and honored when our weddings are featured in print. The real wedding of Lindsay “Lu” and Greg at the Boston Public Library is featured in the latest New England issue of The Knot on stands now!

From The Knot: How They Met: At Tulane University Wedding Style: Mirrored elements, oversize blooms and a glam color scheme of white, silver and pink created a luxe affair that walked the line between modern and traditional.

“Lu carried a traditional bridal bouquet of white peonies, lisianthus and light pink roses while the bridesmaids held fluffy bunches of pink peonies with accents of dusty miller. When the couple learned that Lu’s grandmother likely wouldn’t be able to make it to New York (where they live) for their wedding, they decided to get married in Boston, Lu’s hometown. ‘When the Boston Public Library popped up as a potential venue, we knew it was where we would get married,’ Lu says.”

Winter may be here, but it’s all about Spring in the most recent issue of The Knot New England magazine! We were so excited to open up the pages to find Lauren and Marc’s bright and elegant 2014 wedding. The bride and groom transformed the offices at Meditech into a picturesque venue for their celebration.

“We knew that a lot of people who were unfamiliar with Meditech would think, ‘an office building- really?” says Lauren. “But I wanted the feeling of an outdoor wedding without having to worry about the weather.” They took advantage of the indoor atrium- complete with a fountain, pergola and palm trees- for their sun-filled ceremony. “I was totally inspired by the feeling of a garden,” says Lauren. “Flowers were my most important design element.” Rows of hydrangeas, roses, and succulents were punctuated by tall vases full of cherry blossom branches for a dramatic reception look. In addition to being beautiful Meditech was a sentimental choice for the couple. Lauren’s father is the CEO of the company, having worked up from an entry level position over the course of 40 years.

Now on newsstands, The Knot Magazine Real Wedding Feature of Lauren & Marc at Meditech in Canton, MA by Person + Killian Photography

We are so thrilled to share that one of our wedding photographs was published in the Boston Globe. This special wedding magazine is published once a year and is a fantastic resource for New England brides & grooms. Our photograph accompanied the article on Boston wedding venues. Say Yes to the Room- “couples talk about why they loved their reception sites-and what they might do differently if the could do it again”.

Intimate OceanfrontChoosing a small inn by the sea can make even a larger wedding feel intimate, with perhaps a clambake rehearsal dinner, a shoes-optional ceremony on the beach, and a catered reception indoors or in a tent. Bob Ostrander and Laura MacSwan Ostrander ( Pictured above), who wed at the Chatham Bars Inn in September 201o, liked knowing their guests were comfortable, says Ostrander, who lives with her husband in Darien, Connecticut. “I suggested they bring something to keep warm.” As for her own sartorial choices, she saved her heels for the reception.

This photograph was captured at the Cape Cod real wedding of Laura & Bob. This beautiful couple had a classic seaside affair at the lovely Chatham Bars Inn. To view more wedding photographs of the Chatham Bars Inn-Click here.

Last week the 2012 issue of Bliss Celebrations hit the newsstands. We just got our hands on a copy and are ecstatic to see that we have four features in this gorgeous publication including both real weddings and events!

The magazine is a “guide for planning fresh, modern and spectacular events” including New England weddings, bar and bat mitzvahs, private parties, charity events and more.

Kate and Brad’s Wedding with Amy Kimball Events at The Ritz-Carlton Boston Common

The impact of an all white palette is undeniable. Sleek, modern and glamorous all on its own, but the addition of some silver sparkle and dramatic mood lighting takes it to a whole new level of luxe. Katie and Brad wanted a “Miami Chic” feel for their summer wedding at The Ritz-Carlton Boston Common and the addition of warm lavender uplighting added that extra touch of wow to their stunning all-white soiree.

Ben’s Basketball Themed Bar Mitzvah with SD Events at The Hotel Marlowe in Cambridge

Event Planner Tasha Bracken of SD Events helped Ben and his friends celebrate his special day and his love of the game with a basketball-themed Bar Mitzvah that was a crowd-pleasing slam dunk. Ben loves basketball, so when it came time to plan his Bar Mitzvah celebration, naturally his favorite sport would come into play as the perfect theme for his party. The clever invitations designed by his mother Mara Weiner, owner of Allure Invitations, set the tone for the event with a classic party invite on one side and the back side designed to look and feel like a real leather basketball. The fun escort cards resembled authentic game tickets, with Ben pictured as the pro player on every one. Giant inflatable basketballs floated overhead above the tables and an edible basketball was the centerpiece of the amazing themed cake. Ben surprised his guests with personalized basketballs as party favors, which were a “big hit” according to Bracken. Following the event Ben personally donated all of the extra basketballs to a local children’s charity—a game-winning move for this party’s MVP.

Emily and Jack’s Boston Red Sox Themed Wedding at Fenway Park

Fifteen years in the making, Emily and Jack’s major-league romance finally rounds home plate with a vintage-style ceremony, focused on family ties and fun times at Boston’s Fenway Park. The couple met on Landsdowne Street at a club back in 1996 and began a whirlwind romance that took them first to the San Francisco Bay area and then to Idaho where they bought a house and settled down. “Three boys, two dogs and a million precious memories later,” as Emily described it, this free-spirited couple returned to Jack’s hometown of Boston to finally tie the knot. Since they had met near Fenway, there seemed no better place than atop the Green Monster for this retro-ballpark celebration. Emily wore a vintage gown (with added pops of her fun personality) and carried an antique brooch bouquet that she crafted herself. The boys looked dashing in their bow ties, sweater vests and cool argyle baseball caps as they joined Mom and Dad for a “team photo”, a VIP tour of Fenway and a special family day that they won’t soon forget.

Charlie’s Surprise 50th Birthday Party with SD Events at The Ames Hotel

Event Planner Tasha Bracken of SD Events designed a 50th birthday party dinner at the luxurious Ames Hotel for a high-flying couple and a few of their close friends. Bracken envisioned something fun and masculine, but intimate and personal as well, for Charlie’s 50th birthday dinner. The inspiration for the theme was based on Charlie’s profession as a pilot for Delta Airlines (his wife Caron also worked for the airline as a flight attendant) so subtle touches referencing airplanes and the airline were incorporated into the sleek evening affair. Large branch arrangements filled with glowing candles and ornamental airplanes, along with a long wooden table lined with organic florals and more candles, set the tone for the intimate gathering. Clever gift bags with luggage tags in the shape of an airplane served as place cards for each guest and menu cards imprinted with the Delta logo listed the night’s culinary offerings for the first-class fete.

Hot off the press – The premier issue of Southern New England Weddings Destination Edition! We are thrilled one of the features is the Person + Killian Photography Cape Cod real wedding of Lauren & Alex.

Lauren and Alex Carabelli – 6.4.11 -Chatham, Massachusetts – by Celia Parsons for SNEW

Cape Cod weddings are known for casual seaside style, but Lauren and Alex Carabelli wanted to exchange their vows in black-tie elegance at their favorite beach destination. “I’ve always loved urban glamour, but we also love the Cape’s laid-back feel,” says Lauren, who has summered in Wellfleet since she was a child. She first brought the groom to the Cape while they were dating in college. “He fell in love with it the same way I did,” she says.

With two large families and an extensive group of mutual friends, the couple looked for a location that could accommodate all their guests without losing a sense of intimacy. They chose the Wequassett Resort and Golf Club in Chatham, overlooking Pleasant Bay, for it beauty and flexibility. “We wanted our wedding to be fancy, with everyone dressed up and looking great, but we didn’t want it to be traditional or formal,” says Lauren. “They [the resort] were very amenable to tailoring it to what we wanted.”

Unique touches made the ceremony meaningful. Aviator sunglasses, a trademark from the couple’s college days, were offered to guests from a basket signed, “You may be blinded by our love.” A close friend, ordained for the occasion, married the couple, while a “bridesman” and “groomsmaid” stood by at the altar.

Following a “no seashell, sand or lighthouse rule.” The couple drew inspiration from sea glass hues of blue and green for the reception. “It was a beach wedding without being too literal,” says Lauren. Sparkling chandeliers and stately arrangements of while calla lilies were a dramatic counterpoint to the coastal backdrop, while a menu of “lobster fillet of filet and lobster” were classic Cape Cod.

Throughout the evening, guests wrote well-wishes on Cape postcards and dropped them in a vintage blue suitcase, a nod to the Cape’s vacation vibe. For favors, hand-painted aprons from Blue Water Fish Rubbings of Chatham carried one of the groom’s favorite seafood recipes tucked into the pocket.

The weekend celebration also included a rehearsal dinner that the Wayside Inn in Chatham and a Sunday brunch and clambake at the Chequessett Yacht and Country Club in Wellfleet, both captured by wedding photographer Jill Person. “It was wonderful to spend three days with the couple and guests,” says Jill. “They all became so comfortable with the camera, which comes through in the photos.”

And photos weren’t the only tangible memory this couple walked away with. Naomi Raiselle of Generations Cinemastories was there to document their day on film, and collect comments on camera for the new couple. “Since friends brought the couple together, friends were the central focus of the wedding,” says Naomi. Everyone had comments to share about the couple, which will make the wedding film so meaningful and rich in the years to come.”

“We had the best time, with so many moments that were special in their own way,” says Lauren. “There are so many rules with weddings, but you can still have a wedding that is personal and speaks to you as a couple.”
