Modern Luxury Weddings Boston Inaugural Issue - Real Wedding with Amy Kimball EventsWe are truly honored to have been chosen to capture the wedding of Amanda Belichick and AJ DeSantis who wed last summer at the Weekapaug Inn in Rhode Island. The beautiful wedding weekend, expertly planned and coordinated by the über talented Amy Kimball of Amy Kimball Events is gracing the pages of the inaugural issue of Modern Luxury Weddings Boston and we could not be more thrilled to share! A heartfelt thank you to Amy for introducing us to Amanda and AJ and thank you all for putting your trust in us for your unforgettable wedding weekend!

“Teamates for Life – This couple wanted a wedding that was genuinely them and called on top wedding experts to create their dream nuptials.

Amanda Belichick, head women’s lacrosse coach at Holy Cross College, might play by the rules when on the field, but she and her husband, AJ DeSantis, rewrote the book when it came to their nuptials at the Weekapaug Inn. “All of our friends and family staying together was something that I really wanted,” says Amanda. “We wanted a New England spot that we could go back to and that would become a special place for us.”

The duo, who met online in 2014, wanted to create and unforgettable experience without adhering to typical wedding traditions. “We didn’t do anything that we didn’t have any personal draw to,” says Amanda, daughter of New England Patriots’ head coach Bill Belichick. “In a log of ways, that gave us freedom in that there weren’t a lot of expectations… we literally just did what we wanted!” The lovebirds enlisted the help of event planner Amy Kimball to help them execute their idea of an organic, natural and sophisticated wedding. “We just clicked with her. She made everything fun.”

Kimball helped the happy couple execute their vision of an intimate and down-to-earth celebration – sans traditional event elements such as the bride wearing borrowed and blue items or throwing the bouquet. “Everything we did had meaning to the couple; all the details were quite personal, from working with exquisite handmade paper for the invitations, to the delicate leaves custom sewn on her dress that connected to the design inspiration for the wedding,” says Kimball. guests were welcomed to the Weekapaug Inn with customized reusable natural-fiber gift bags stocked with traveling games, an dthe bride and groom’s favorite snacks. The wedding weekend started off with a bang at the welcome dinner thanks to a surprise 15-minute fireworks display that the groom had arranged, to the bride’s delight. It was in line with the groom’s romantic side – he had proposed to Amanda in their home, which he filled with vases of flowers, a petal pathway and sweet cards with beautiful sentiments he wrote himself.

Amanda walked down the aisle in a custom silk chiffon corseted gown with hand embrodiery by One by Maya with her father. Her gown was accented by a special necklace that ensured her parents would always be close. The center diamond is from her mother’s engagement ring and the marquise-cut diamonds are from Super Bowl pendants gifted by the bride’s father, from New York Giants’ wins in 1986 and 1990, and New England Patriots wins in 2001, 2003 and 2004.

Amanda and AJ were  wed by a close friend of the groom’s late parents under a custom canopy made from flowing white sail fabric dressed with loose green vines. Stoneblossom Floral and Event Design created a progressive story from the ceremony to cocktails and reception with textural greens and flowers in shades of white, subtle nudes and soft blush pink.

“Amy knew what we wanted when we didn’t know how to ask for it,” says Amanda. “The way the elements came together in the space on the day of the wedding was truly magical.”

One of our absolutely favorite things to do is to be able to give back to those in the Boston wedding industry who have continuously supported us throughout the years. Now that spring has finally arrived and before the start of the wedding season we decided to celebrate a with a dinner party and could not be more thrilled with how perfect the evening turned out.

We asked our dear friend Amy Kimball (owner of Amy Kimball Events) to once again help us plan this celebration as she has done in the past. With so many of our talented friends in the industry, she was able to put this unforgettable evening together.

As guests arrived, they were greeted with a ‘champagne’ escort card and cocktail hour with Champy by Jenny Johnson. Dinner followed and was a five-course tasting menu and wine pairing by Capers Catering. Dinner was followed by gold brushed individual wedding cakes from Jenny’s Wedding Cakes.

For the decor, 17 white Murano glass chandeliers from Suzanne B. Lowell Lighting were hung dramatically low lining the 70 feel of black, crocodile leather tables and silver chrome chairs from Reserve Modern Event Rental who provided all the rentals. 1,500 white tulips tightly hedged in 65 feet of boxwood created by Dana Markos Events played perfectly off the white chandeliers. Our photography was showcased on a 30 food wall canvas and the door images by ICL Imaging framing the entire event. As dinner was taking place, the Valinor Quartet (Music Management) played and added the perfect touch to the warmth of the atmosphere.

A heartfelt thank you to all of our dear friends and colleagues who came out to celebrate such a special evening with us and a world of thanks and appreciation to all who helped create this magical night.

A heartfelt thank you to Christian Nachtrieb of Brighter Lights Media for the film!

This beautiful day in the heart of Boston was the perfect setting for Katie + Chris’s enchanted Summer Taj Boston wedding. The bride and groom got ready at the hotel and Chris was blown away when he entered Katie’s room to see his glowing wife to be for their first look.

Before the bride and groom officially tied the knot, we took a stroll through the Boston Public Gardens with the wedding party to capture the sheer bliss on the faces of the couple as well as their wedding party and families. Shortly after, we arrived at St. Cecilia Parish for the Catholic ceremony Katie + Chris stood in front of their loved ones for. The ceremony couldn’t have been more beautiful, from the high ceilings lined with glowing stained glass to the massive stone pillars and remarkably painted walls of the Parish.

Spirits were high as the bride and groom arrived at the reception to what looked like a romantic scene torn out of A Midsummer Night’s Dream. The lighting gave a fantastical sense of wonder to the magical night as the greenery displayed the natural and calming qualities of the Shakespearean setting.  It was very easy to get lost in the natural feel and lush surroundings, to the point where all thoughts and signs of being in the big city were lost in the elegant array of beautiful flowers and decor.

Thank you to the Taj Boston and the team at Amy Kimball Events for being so lovely to work with and a heartfelt congratulations and thank you to Katie + Chris for having us there to capture your beautiful Spring Taj Boston wedding celebration!

We could not have asked for a more beautiful Fall day for this gorgeous Fairmont Copley Plaza Wedding! Anastasia and George’s wedding was a perfect mix of classic, traditional and beautifully elegant — and it was so much fun to photograph! We stared the day with the bride and her bridesmaids, getting ready at the Fairmont Copley Plaza, while George got ready at his parent’s home in Boston.

Guests arrived at the historic Annunciation Cathedral in Boston for a traditional Greek Orthodox ceremony. The couple said their “I do’s” as the Anima string quartet played beautifully in celebration of this joyous moment. The bride and groom departed the cathedral in a receiving line complete with a ceremonial throwing of rose petals.

We then headed back to the Fairmont for formal photos of the couple and their families both inside and outside of the hotel while their guests began enjoying cocktail hour. The bride and groom entered the grand ballroom and it wasn’t long before everyone was on the dance floor, dancing to the traditional music played by a Greek band. As Tashia + George danced the night away, friends and relatives threw money over their heads — a tradition at Greek weddings to bestow good fortune and prosperity on the bride and groom.

A very special thanks to Amy Kimball Events, Tracey Gavin and the entire team at the Fairmont Copley Plaza, for always being so lovely to work with! Congratulations Tashia and George!!

Rosecliff Mansion is a stunning location to photograph a Newport wedding. With its marble staircases, garden courtyard, and acres of beautiful greenery it is truly a one-of-a-kind location. Marlena + Mark took advantage of all of the Rosecliff elegance when designing their spring Newport wedding. With planning, coordination and design by Amy Kimball of Amy Kimball Events, the couple was able to celebrate the wedding of their dreams.

The bride and groom infused their classic wedding day with color wherever possible, including the pops of pink in the floral arrangements, the brides shoes and the groom’s  custom blue tuxedo jacket. The traditional Catholic wedding ceremony took place at St. Mary’s Church in Newport, the same church where John F. Kennedy and Jackie Onassis got married back in 1953. Following some family portraits at the church, we headed to the mansion. It was a gorgeous sunny day and we were able to utilize several of the Rosecliff’s outdoor spaces, including the garden courtyard and grassy terrace overlooking the Atlantic ocean for photos of the newlyweds.

Cocktails and hors d’oeuvres were served under the terrace canopy and around the outdoor fountain, and featured a full raw bar and an unbeatable view of the of the Newport seaside. The dinner reception was held in the Rosecliff Mansion Ballroom, whose golden chandeliers and intricately carved ceiling already make for a beautiful and elegant space. The ballroom was enhanced with green fern centerpieces and smaller floral arrangements. Guests enjoyed music from Veronica Martell Entertainment, a delicious meal and dessert, and hand-rolled cigars courtesy of Boston Cigar Factory throughout the evening.

We were thrilled to have been a part of this uniquely elegant Rosecliff Mansion wedding, we could not have asked for a better day! Special thanks to Amy Kimball and her team at Amy Kimball Events, as well as to the bride and groom for including us in your Newport wedding. Congratulations!

People are always asking us if we do destination wedding photography and the answer is of course YES!! Over the years we have had the pleasure of photographing weddings all over New England, Paris, Palm Beach, Vegas and now Hawaii!

Two weeks ago with cameras in hand we took a 14-hour flight to beautiful Hawaii! We landed on a small private island call Lana’i and photographed a beautiful wedding for our talented and dear friend Amy Kimball of Amy Kimball Events. Although we cannot share the details of this lovely affair we wanted to take a minute to share some personal photographs we took during our stay. Hawaii is such a magical and special place and we highly recommend you visit it at least once your lifetime! A big Mahalo (Thank you) to Amy for trusting us to document such a wonderful weekend!

Person + Killian Photography kicked off the 2012 wedding season in style at the Ritz-Carlton, Boston Common for Caroline and David’s winter wedding.

Caroline and David knew they wanted to have their wedding in downtown Boston because they both love living there! They wanted the feeling of their day to be sophisticated and chic and went with black + white for their color scheme with accents of silver and purple.

After the bride and her bridesmaids got ready in one of the hotel’s beautiful suites overlooking the Boston Common, it was time for the first look. It was great capturing the excitement for the couple. Prior to the ceremony we spent some time with the bride and groom taking photos throughout the hotel and with their wedding party.

The ceremony took place at the Lindsey Chapel on nearby Newbury Street. Caroline and David both love music so they personalized their ceremony with a gospel choir and sting trio (as a surprise for their guests).

Following photos with the newlyweds and their wedding party outside the Boston Public Library and the Commonwealth Avenue Mall it was back to the Ritz where the celebration began. With the music of Soho, Caroline, David and their guests danced the night away.

Congratulations Caroline and David and thank you both for having us there to capture such a beautiful day!

Last Saturday Jacquie & Gabe had a down-home DIY barn style wedding reception with all their family and friends. They exchanged I do’s last October in Santa Fe, New Mexico at an intimate wedding ceremony with a handful of people. The festivities took place at Codman Farm in Lincoln, MA where a blue grass band got the party started.

The Über cool couple along with their talented event planner Amy Kimball designed all of the décor. Their barn style wedding reception was full of DIY charm and filled to the brim with adorable details. Colorful flags and lights filled the inside of the barn for cocktail hour, where guests sat on hay bales instead of chairs! The tented reception featured long, family-style tables and beautiful white, silver, and turquoise decor.

Congratulations Jacquie & Gabe!

The party was hosted at the Boston Public Library and was filled with delicious food from The Catered Affair.  The beautiful floral arrangements were the signature touch of our dear and talented friend Chad Michael Peters and the night would not have been the same with out the collaboration of Port Lighting,Generations cinemastories, Stephanie Solomon (Rentals Unlimited), Larry Chan (Signs and Prints) and Kupah James who rocked the house !

This year our party was at The Loft in South Boston. The loft-style space was the perfect backdrop for our modern party. Colors of red and black popped up everywhere in the decor, and we loved the romantic rose petal floor piece! The night certainly would not have been a success with out the hard work and collaboration of our dear friends Amy Kimball (Amy Kimball Events) , Chad Michael Peters (Chad Michael Peters) , Naomi & Jack (Generations cinemastories), Stephanie Solomon (Rentals Unlimited) and Larry Chan (Signs and Prints).
