Sunny skies, a serene blue waterfront, summer flowers, and a group of friends and family ready to celebrate — everything came together to give Melissa and Andrés their perfect Boston Marriott Long Wharf wedding. Bride and groom are both designers, so they thought carefully about each and every detail that would go into their big day. They embraced their “city wedding” and drew inspiration from modern romance, using a palette of fresh, modern colors such as ivory, grey, sage, blush, and gold throughout the day’s design.

Both bride and groom started the day next to the blue waters of Boston’s beautiful waterfront, with Melissa inside the Boston Marriott Long Wharf and Andrés at their nearby apartment. The groomsmen’s suits were accented with colors of sage green while the bridesmaids wore soft pink. Melissa’s bridal bouquet incorporated all of these colors and more, for a perfect soft and modern palette. The wedding ceremony took place in the Boston Marriott Long Wharf’s Palm Garden room, after which we took the newlyweds outside the hotel to Christopher Columbus Park right next door.

The sun was shining and it was a perfect day in the park, we took some formal photos with the couple and their wedding party in front of the lush greenery as well as a few photos of Melissa and Andrés out on the waterfront. We also took the couple across the street to the Rose Kennedy Greenway for some pictures in front of the carousel and underneath the flower-draped archway of Christopher Columbus Park.

Back at the Boston Marriott Long Wharf, the Harbor View ballroom was transformed for the evening reception. Gold frames and lanterns were used alongside floral bouquets of soft green, pink, and white for an elegant and modern touch. The ballrooms tall, curving glass windows gave guests a panoramic view of the beautiful boats and wharf below, and everyone was ready to celebrate the wedding of this wonderful new husband and wife.

Thank you to Melissa and Andrés for letting us be a part of your Boston Marriott Long Wharf wedding — it was a beautiful day perfect for a beautiful couple.

Laura and Derek wanted a traditionally classic wedding day and chose the InterContinental Hotel Boston as their venue for their springtime wedding. Boston based designer Daniel Faucher created the custom one of a kind wedding dress that paired perfectly with the veil and off white bouquet.

One of the most important parts of the day for the Boston based couple was to incorporate their Irish heritage into the wedding day. As guests arrived for their traditional Catholic wedding ceremony at St. Brendan’s Church, they were greeted with a traditional Irish bagpiper.

For cocktail hour and reception, guests celebrated back at the InterContinental on the Boston Harbor. As a surprise to the guests, Irish stepdancers performed following dinner. To make the evening more special, Laura’s mom and a group of family and friends surprised the bride and groom with one final Irish dance before the dance floor was opened for the evening. Tradition, a Boston based Irish wedding band kept everyone dancing for the rest of the evening.

Thank you to Paul Melino and his team at the InterContinental Hotel Boston. Congratulations Laura and Derek and thank you both for including us in your special day!

Leah and Craig’s sweet fall wedding at Boston’s Fairmont Copley Plaza was full of tradition and love. We began the crisp fall day joining the wedding parties in their suites at the Fairmont. We found Leah and her loved ones preparing for the couple’s First Look. Leah dressed in a gorgeous ruffled gown from Michael De Paulo with sparkly Jimmy Choo shoes. A lush and light bouquet of mixed fall flowers completed her stunning look. We captured a few fun moments of Craig before he dressed in a formal black-tie tuxedo and we made our way to the much anticipated First Look.

After a private and tender moment seeing each other for the first time, Leah and Craig readied for their Bedeken or Veiling Ceremony. This Jewish tradition involves the veiling of the bride — the bedeken — “where the bride and groom’s families meet and the groom confirms that the bride is his intended, then covers her face with a veil.” (and what a veil it was!) Immediately following, the wedding ceremony was in the Grand Ballroom under a customary wedding chuppah. A white aisle runner laden with petals led to a polished and reflective chuppah that was surrounded by lush floral arrangements. After the traditional ceremony, guests headed to cocktail hour where the atmosphere was cheerful, full with great conversations. Guests made their way back to the transformed Grand Ballroom for the reception. The ballroom was radiant with a complementing palette of golds and creams with pops of fall colors. Tall floral arrangements with candlelight and gold-rimmed mirrored table numbers felt right at home in the ballroom. Full of laughter and celebrations, the evening continued with toasts, dinner and lots and lots of dancing!

We adored capturing this sweet & loving couple’s day; Leah and Craig – you and your families are both gracious and kind – thank you for letting Person + Killian Photography capture this exceptional day! As always, thank you to our fellow vendors, and Tracey Gavin and her skillful team at the Fairmont!

We see a lot of beautiful things in our line of work; this Four Seasons Hotel Boston Wedding with Marc Hall Design is exquisite. The couple, Liz and Mike, wanted a beautiful affair that had an air of ease and intimacy. Starting the day in a suite at the Four Seasons, Liz was in full swing getting ready. Mike was likewise prepping in his room where friends and family popped by for a quick hello before he dressed to meet his bride.

With such a beautiful day, we headed over to the Boston Public Gardens to capture the First Look. Surrounded by the abundant greenery the gardens have to offer, we took this time to capture some formals before heading back to the hotel to wrap up the wedding party formals.

The Grand Ballroom was transformed with an archway full of gorgeous, lush blooms in shades of whites and creams for the ceremony. Liz’s brother officiated as the couple exchanged vows in the presence of their loved ones. After the ceremony, we made our way to the Aujourd’hui Room for cocktail hour while the Grand Ballroom underwent another transformation.

First to greet the guests was an escort card table in the round. A magnificent floral display of roses and orchids accented with candles. Between the lighting, linens and beautiful centerpieces, the reception space felt sophisticated with warm tones of creams, blushes and gold. As the evening progressed, it was clear that the couple and their guests was enjoying themselves. From the decident dessert display and fun photo booth to the packed dance floor, what’s not to love?

Thank you Liz and Mike for letting Person + Killian be a part of this beautiful day! As always a big thank you to Philip Deschamps for being an absolute joy to work with.

When Deena and Joel got engaged they knew that they wanted a classically refined summer wedding. Overlooking the harbor, the Seaport Hotel located in the heart of Boston’s historic seaport, boasts no shortage of lovely spots (and photo locations!) to enjoy; it turned out to be the perfect waterside location they were looking for!

We begin the beautiful August day gathered in the bridal suite where the girls were clearly having a blast getting ready together. The atmosphere was fun and filled with excitement for the upcoming day. The sweet flowergirl, Bri, almost stole the show but Deena’s stunner of a dress, a lovely Watters gown, ensured all eyes were on this beauty. The bride completed the look with timeless pearls and a bouquet of fresh summer flowers of garden roses, ranunculus and dahlias. The gentleman spent some time prepping together too, gathering together with Joel while he suited up for the couple’s first look.

Taking advantage of the perfect day, Deena’s & Joel’s first look took place outside where they had a private moment before heading off to capture fun shots of the whole wedding party. The bridesmaids looked like a summer breeze in their dresses perfectly complimented by the groomsmen in crisp gray suits.

The ceremony took place in an elegant ballroom where rose petals adorned the aisle and a backdrop dripped in light. The look on Joel’s face as Deena walked down the aisle said it all. Officiating the ceremony was Joel’s grandfather adding personal touches and tender words of encouragement to Deena and Joel as they exchanged lifelong vows.

Following the ceremony, the newlyweds and wedding party joined in on the fun as guests sipped on the couple’s signature cocktails while enjoying hors d’oeuvres and good conversation. The reception space was draped with flowing fabric and detailed lighting that reflected the stunning floral centerpieces that were both lush and vibrant making for an intensely romantic feel. As the evening continued, the new Mr. and Mrs. spent time thanking their guests, dancing with loved ones and cutting a gorgeous five-tiered wedding cake. Once dinner progressed into dancing and the lighting dimmed, Beantown Band did what they are known to do – pack a dance floor and bring the house down! Wildly gifted and not afraid to join the party, we have so much fun capturing the candid joy the band brings to the guests.

We always love working with familiar faces, and as always, enjoyed working with the planner, Ivy Finn from Event’s By Ivy and entire team at the Seaport Hotel Boston. What a great time we had photographing this wedding!

Congratulations again to Deena & Joel – it was an honor and thank you for choosing Person + Killian Photography to capture such a special day!

With the city near and dear to their hearts the simply stunning Katie and Barry wanted their fall wedding to have a classic Bostonian feel. Rich in luxury and tradition the Boston Omni Parker House was the perfect setting for their elegant affair.

Katie and Barry were surrounded by their fun loving family and friends for a sweet ceremony inside the breathtaking beauty of St. Mary – St. Catherine of Siena Parish in Charlestown.

We were enchanted by a delicate palate of ivory, white, and gold along with swoon-worthy panoramic city views from the fabulous Omni Parker House Hotel. Later, guests were on their feet for the wonderful rhythms of Sweet Tooth & the Sugarbabies and treated to charming favors from the Boston Olive Oil Company.

Thank you to all of the fabulous vendors that made this special day come to life! A very special thanks to Katie and Barry for choosing Person + Killian to document your wedding. We wish you all the happiness in the world!

Person + Killian Photography is THRILLED to announce we have won Best of Boston for wedding photography from Boston Magazine!!!

Every year, Boston Magazine ranks all of the best Boston has to offer — from restaurants to theaters to local businesses and services. The wedding category is (of course) our favorite section. Only one winner is selected for each title, with the wedding category including titles like Best Florist, Best Caterer, and Best Makeup Artist. We are honored and ecstatic to have been chosen as Best of Boston Wedding Photographers 2012!!

Here’s what Boston Magazine had to say about Person + Killian Photography:

“Forced poses, gowns on hangers, group jumping–after a while, all wedding photos start to look the same. Not so when Jill Person and Laurén Killian are behind the lens. With a focus on atypical angles that capture the energy of the event, their images come out consistently vibrant, crisp, and beautiful–meaning the pair is in high demand for weddings and other high-profile shindigs around town. Book well in advance.”

Thank you Boston Magazine for this great honor, and to everyone who has continued to support us throughout the years!!!
