How do you make a fun and memorable Bar Mitzvah? Start with an amazing family, add lots of friends and loved ones to join in the celebration, and of course a room full of race cars doesn’t hurt either!

For Zachary’s big day, he really wanted to incorporate one of his life’s greatest passions — cars. For his traditional mitzvah project, he pledged to complete 360 track laps in his go-cart and set up a GoFundMe page for friends and family to sponsor his efforts. All of the money he raised was then donated to the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute to help patients and the progression of cancer research.

His love of cars was carried over into his Bar Mitzvah celebration decor with Lamborghinis, Corvettes, and sports cars of all different kinds atop each table. Sleek details of black, blue, and white made the whole room pop and really carry the theme throughout. At the end of the day, everyone was there to have fun. Kids and adults alike enjoyed food, games, a photo booth and lots of dancing to celebrate Zachary on this very special day!

The new year has arrived, and with that comes the excitement of so many new memories waiting to be captured. While we are looking forward to a great year ahead, we are also taking time to reflect back on an unforgettable 2018 full of Boston weddings and events.

2018 brought us a year filled with incredible couples and memorable celebrations, overflowing with more love and joy than we could possibly imagine. Every wedding day is special in its own way, and no matter the couple, the venue, or the details of the celebration we always find ourselves feeling more fulfilled and having more fun each and every day! From Cape Cod to New Hampshire and all of the venues we love in the heart of Boston, we could not have asked for a better wedding season.

In addition to weddings, we also had a great year of social events including the first Boston Planners Dining Club at Catalyst,  Another World Series Playoff Season and Championship, numerous charity galas from the YMCA of Greater Boston, American Liver Foundation Cuisine for a Cause, the Dress for Success Style + Soul event and more. Ending the year of events was the lighting of the Prudential Tower 31 nights of lights for the Pediatric Brain Tumor Foundation – Northeast.

With tremendous gratitude, we thank all of our couples, colleagues and clients and wish everyone a wonderful new year!

“On Tuesday, April 24, 2018, Boston Planner’s Dining Club launched at Catalyst Restaurant in Cambridge. Founded by Tammy Golson of Tammy Golson Events and Sarah Glick of Brilliant Event Planning, Boston Planners Dining Club is a private group of some of Boston’s best wedding planners. The mission of The Boston Planners Dining Club is to foster community and camaraderie among wedding planners in Boston, while experiencing venues and vendors’ talents and services first hand.

Catalyst Restaurant not only showcased their gorgeous event space, but also delighted guests with an impressive menu created by Chef William Kovel. Marc Hall Design brought Spring to Boston with their bright florals inspired by Fete Collection’s watercolor design. This design was featured on the custom bar by PBD Events, as well as on the hand-stitched menus that Fete created. The live music by Speechless was the perfect soundtrack for the evening and Party Rental Ltd provided all of the rentals. The entire evening was captured by Jill Person of Person + Killian Photography and George Horemiotis of SH Videography.” – Boston Magazine

“As we enlisted the team of Boston wedding professionals for our first Boston Planners Dining Club,  we encouraged each team member to create something they were genuinely excited about. We challenged them to think big, be creative and deliver something never before seen, that would impress our seasoned and esteemed wedding planning colleagues. It was a collaborative process inspired by the original watercolor design Fete Collection created for the menu cards. Marc Hall Design pulled the oranges and yellows from this pattern for the floral design on the tables and Party by Design replicated this watercolor design and created our bespoke bar.

With accents of orange, a nod to the juxtapose of the spring we’ve had in New England, the big blooms were beautifully offset with accents of gray introduced in the linen napkins and smokey chargers. An underlined urban vibe was built by the use of industrial tables topped with white plexiglass and black flatware. The frosted votives were paired with the vellum overlay of the menus, which were hand-stitched with orange thread. The tiny gold salt and pepper shakers were a sweet compliment to the gorgeous gold on the hand-painted place cards marking each guest’s seat at our long dramatically long table.” – Tammy Golson of Tammy Golson Events and Sarah Glick of Brilliant Event Planning

Last week marked the beginning of the Chinese New Year and we were there to capture the annual celebration at the Mandarin Oriental Boston. To welcome the Year of the Earth Dog, the venue greeted guests for their annual soiree in style. The Mandarin lobby was filled with traditional red and gold Chinese lanterns and live music. The entrance to the ballroom included a traditional fortune tree, Red Lotus cocktail from Bar Boulud and personalized painted New Year wishes. As a surprise to guests, a traditional Lion Dance was performed by a local martial arts studio and Mandarin Oriental Hotel General Manager Philipp Knuepfer offered an official welcome to the New Year.

We always love photographing events that support a good cause. Art beCause is a wonderful organization whose mission is to educate the public on breast cancer causes and prevention, and we were honored to have photographed their 2017 Art beCause Celebrity Fashion Show.

This year’s annual event was hosted at the beautiful Wellesley Country Club, and featured delicious hors d’oeuvres, a fundraising live auction, and a lively fashion show starring some of our very own Boston celebrities!

Emcees Gretta Monahan and Robert Verdi kept the crowd entertained all night, with help from Kiss 108’s DJ Rich DiMare mixing the tunes. The Art beCause Celebrity Fashion show featured some of Boston’s top news anchors, TV hosts, and radio personalities including 7News Meteorologist Chris Lambert and Miss Massachusetts Julia Scaparotti. Also walking in the fashion show were four models who were breast cancer survivors, showing just how important the work of Art beCause is! All of the money raised at this event is used to fund research and awareness for the prevention of breast cancer.

We were honored to be a part of this wonderful event, and to help share the message of Art beCause’s important work. Special thanks to Joanie Freidman and Art beCause for having us!

What do you get when you mix a gorgeous Boston event venue, stunning black and metallic decor, delicious food, industry friends, and four of the top event rental companies in Boston? The official industry launch of PEAK Event Services — which we had the pleasure of photographing last week at The Castle at Park Plaza.

Four well known rental companies in Boston have joined forces to create one fabulous event rental company. Rentals Unlimited, Peterson Party Center, Table Toppers of Newton, and RESERVE Modern Event Rental have just launched as the brand new PEAK Event Services. With all of these spectacular companies under one name, you know the official industry launch was going to be an event to remember!

Suzanne B Lowell and her lighting crew worked alongside the PEAK team to transform The Castle at Park Plaza into an elegant black and metallic oasis, with golden chairs and tables, metallic lounge furniture, and a perfect black dance floor underneath a suspended illusion tent made of lights. Candles flickered, disco lights sparkled, and everyone was ready to party.

We joined 700 of the industry’s finest to celebrate this exciting company launch, complete with hors d’oeuvres and food stations from Gourmet Catering and special food stations from Lydia Shire, Ostra and Boston Chops. Music from Entertainment Specialists’ DJ Mike Amado and Boston Funk and disco band Booty Vortex added the perfect touch to the lively atmosphere.

We are so proud of our industry colleagues for this exciting new venture, and very thankful to be given the opportunity to photograph such a spectacular event. A special thank you to PEAK Event Services and congratulations on the official launch!

What an honor to have been asked back for the third year as a sponsor for the annual AANE Gala. This  years gala celebrated 20 years and 20 Faces of AANE while honoring the Founder and Executive Director Dania Jekel for her 20 years of unwavering service to the global Asperger Community.

AANE, works with individuals, families, and professionals to help people with Asperger Syndrome and similar autism spectrum profiles build meaningful lives. This year’s gala was held at the Edward M. Kennedy Institute for the United States Senate,  located adjacent to the John F. Kennedy Presidential Library.

During the cocktail hour, projections filled the walls with facts about AANE and it’s success stories over the last 20 years. Bright orange linens were topped with modern floral designs from Dana Markos Events. Guests moved into the Senate Chamber for the program portion before moving back out to the cocktail area for champagne, cupcakes and a performance by local a cappella performance as the evening wound down.

We were thrilled to have been asked by Peterson Party Center to photograph the decor for the 11th annual Party In the Park yesterday. Plus it’s always a pleasure to photograph the beautiful work of our industry friends at, The Catered Affair, Winston Flowers and Table Toppers of Newton!

“This years event took place at the Pinebank Promontory at Jamaica Pond, to support the restoration and maintenance of the Emerald Necklace park system. The genius of Frederick Law Olmsted, who designed more than 1,100 acres of meadows, woodlands and paths, can be enjoyed by all more than 100 years after the completion of his work, thanks to the stewardship of the Emerald Necklace Conservancy in collaboration with its public partners

The Party in the Park is one of the conservancy’s surest signs of spring and one of the most anticipated social events in Boston. To date, the luncheon has generated a $3 million endowment fund for the parks.

Every May, just as spring declares itself in Boston, the luncheon draws hundreds of parks champions to gather for an elegant lunch served in a beautiful tent in one of the Necklace parks. Known as the “hat lunch” because so many guests complement their spring wardrobes with flowers, feathers and fascinators, the party is planned over the course of a year by an all-volunteer committee to ensure a memorable afternoon.” – Emerald Necklace

With great pleasure we photographed yet another beautiful holiday soiree for The Ritz-Carlton, Boston.

This beautiful event came together with the joint efforts of the Ritz staff and their amazing culinary team. Also, lending their talents were some of Boston’s finest event professionals that included Ambiance Event Service, Be Our Guest, Music Management, Southern Audio Visual, Stump Trivia & Winston Flowers.

This year the Ritz continued their holiday tradition of sharing the joy of the season with a child in need. Guests were invited to bring an unwrapped gift for the Big Wishes for Little Wanderers Holiday Drive. They also surprised everyone with a flash mob performance by the Boston College cheerleading squad and the Ritz staff!

Edna Dratch-Parker owner of EFD Creative who helped plan and design the event described it perfectly on her blog- “We were looking to develop a soft wintery scene, along with the creative talent of Tangerine Creations, birch trees, moss, twinkle lights in the branches and hanging from the ceiling, helped create the mystical feel. Add in the white textured fabric, special touches of snowflake name badges collaborated by Table Artistry and Megan Chapin Calligraphy and the look was complete. DJ Raffi not only added in the holiday music, but the large moving pictures on the wall along with all the lighting…you had to see it in person to experience the energy it added to the party. A big thank you goes to East Meets West Catering, desserts by Party Favors, Peterson Party Center, Rentals Unlimited, and of course Lauren Killian of Person + Killian Photography…thank you for allowing us to share the beauty of the night!”

Like so many others all over the world, Person + Killian Photography had a chance to get involved with the Royal Wedding festivities thanks to the Chronicle HD Boston!

We are honored to have been featured on last night’s Royal Wedding episode of WCVB Channel 5’s Chronicle. The fabulous Shayna Seymour interviewed us on Royal trends in photography and followed us along with Marianna and Rob (a 2011 P+K couple) on an engagement session in the Back Bay.

We had a great time watching the show at the W Boston where Tasha Bracken of SD Events (also featured in the episode) hosted a cocktail party. Our dear friend Dana Markos of Dana Markos Events was also interviewed by Shayna for the show.

A special thanks to Tasha for throwing the event and to Dana for his beautiful flower arrangements that were inspired by the popular fascinators worn by all of the women at the wedding.

The celebration continued with a viewing party at the SD Events office in Newton that was covered by WHDH Channel 7 Boston this morning where we drank tea, wore some fabulous hats and fascinators that were provided by Lance McBrayer of Glam Couture for the momentous occasion.

Last weekend Person + Killian Photography headed out to the Larz Anderson Auto Museum along with many others from the Boston Wedding Group.

The Brookline estate made for a great backdrop for newly engaged couples where they had the opportunity to see what’s new in photography, floral arrangements, invitations and more. Guests were treated to live music and some of the latest culinary trends while also having the chance to tour the exhibits. It was a fantastic afternoon and we were thrilled to be a part of the event alongside so many talented professionals.
