The 2020 Mitzvah season kicked off earlier this month with the NEON LIGHTS themed Bat Mitzvah with AE Events. The afternoon started in Wellesley at Temple Beth Elohim for the family portraits prior to the service. From there, it was off to nearby Pine Brook Country Club in Weston for the celebration.

As guests entered the foyer, a giant “ABBEY” from Your Love In Lights glowed as a focal point prior to entering the main reception area. The neon theme was incorporated throughout all of the spaces from the food stations with neon signs over each area, photo booth with the glowing black-lights and GIF booth encompassed in a glowing neon cabana. The draped black walls gave the neon that extra pop and wow factor. Northern Lights Entertainment kept the party going all night with their DJ, band and dancers and surprises kept popping up from the popcorn cart to blinking neon cotton candy. There was even a rolling donut wall towards the end of the evening.

From the AE Events team: “The neon wall was a masterpiece! It started out as just an idea, and then watching it come to life over the past year was truly special. We worked with Mystic Scenic Studios, Inc. to help create it. The wall was built from 5 different neon companies. Some of the neon’s were custom, some from Amazon, but all put together, it was magical. The wall towered at 12 feet wide and 9 feel tall! It was a fun photo opportunity for Abbey and her guests. The wall also represents a lot of what we (AE Events) do as event planners. We build works of art and masterpieces that are up for less that 24 hours and then taken down, for only a few to see. It’s the process that brings pure joy in the end for the clients and makes it all worth it!”

A big thank you to AE Events for having me capture this spectacular celebration. Mazel Tov to Abbey and her family!

Event Coordination and Planning: AE Events – Christine Altieri, Phoebe Allen and India Callaghan; Celebration: Pine Brook Country Club; Catering: Pine Brook, Woops and Blackbird Doughnuts; Print: Fete Collection; Photobooth: Boston GIF; Air Brush Tattoo and Glow Booth: Fun Enterprises; Rentals: Your Love in Lights, Mystic Scenic, Taylor Creative, Tommy Wholesale, Party By Design; Lighting: Suzanne B Lowell Lighting; AV: Capron; Entertainment: Northern Lights Entertainment; Neon Wall: WEON, Locomotion, Light Me Up, Amped and Co and Etsy; Transportation: Cocell

How do you make a fun and memorable Bar Mitzvah? Start with an amazing family, add lots of friends and loved ones to join in the celebration, and of course a room full of race cars doesn’t hurt either!

For Zachary’s big day, he really wanted to incorporate one of his life’s greatest passions — cars. For his traditional mitzvah project, he pledged to complete 360 track laps in his go-cart and set up a GoFundMe page for friends and family to sponsor his efforts. All of the money he raised was then donated to the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute to help patients and the progression of cancer research.

His love of cars was carried over into his Bar Mitzvah celebration decor with Lamborghinis, Corvettes, and sports cars of all different kinds atop each table. Sleek details of black, blue, and white made the whole room pop and really carry the theme throughout. At the end of the day, everyone was there to have fun. Kids and adults alike enjoyed food, games, a photo booth and lots of dancing to celebrate Zachary on this very special day!

Now this is what we call a great way to kick of the beautiful spring weather in Boston! A big thank you to the Capers Catering team for having us there as the official event photographers of the Olive & Twist Mobile Bar launch!

Meet Olive & Twist, a cocktail bar freshly re-minted from a vintage 1973 Volkwagsen Westfalia Camper Bus—and officially ready to roll for events across New England and beyond!

Capers Catering owner Emma Roberts and her team hosted a May 15th launch party for the spirited new brand at Charlestown’s Courageous Sailing Center, where guests were treated to signature cocktails, craft beer, and local wine as the water lapped dockside and the sun set against the Boston skyline.

Lovingly restored to pristine, gleaming splendor and transformed into a flip-top, tartan-interior, stainless-steel-countertop mobile bar, Olive & Twist’s VW Bus is a delight to behold. Her clamshell-opening roof reveals a chalkboard personalized to every event, fully customizable LED lighting, and every angle features more detail than you can possibly take in—including an ingenious option to plug the entire VW in to power.

Driven by wanderlust, this coy Westfalia Bus hasn’t yet divulged her name—and for that reason, Olive & Twist will soon offer you a chance to christen her. Follow @olivetwistbar and @capers_catering on Instagram and Facebook to be the first to hear when this vintage beauty’s naming contest begins!

The 2019 event season has officially started! Our first event of the year was the grand opening reception of the 30th Annual Boston Wine Festival — including the VIP pre-reception with a very special group of winemakers and the who’s who of Boston. The event, held at the Boston Harbor Hotel was founded by their Executive Chef Daniel Bruce.

The VIP festivities began in the brand new 4,800 square foot John Adams Presidential Suite with sweeping views of the Boston Harbor.  Guests enjoyed a welcome toast from Chef Daniel Bruce himself, as well as from Managing Director & General Manager of the Boston Harbor Hotel Stephen Johnston. Special guests included top winemaker Anthony Hamilton Russell (all the way from South Africa) and NBC Boston’s TV presenter and local DJ Colton Bradford. And of course, there was wine! The main celebration took place in the hotel’s newly renovated Wharf Room where nearly 400 guests were able to sample over 50 varieties of wine featured in this year’s festival, expertly paired with Chef’s own culinary creations.

We could not have thought of a better way to start off the new year, and are looking forward to a fantastic year of weddings and events in 2019! A very special thank you to the whole team at the Boston Harbor Hotel for having us there to capture the evening.

Earlier this month, Fashion Santa arrived a the Ritz-Carlton Boston to help raise money for Cradles to Crayons and we were there to capture the festivities. Thank you to the team at the Ritz for asking us to be there to capture the holiday celebration!

“Paul Mason, the man famously known as Fashion Santa, came to town, as he kicked off The Ritz-Carlton Fashion Santa Tour with an invitation-only party at the hotel’s Avery Bar.

Mason — whose charitable tour continues over the next week with stops in his hometown of Toronto, Washington, D.C., and Miami — schmoozed with Ritz guests, residents and a select group of locals at a cozy, fireside fete benefiting Cradles to Crayons. But before the party’s piano performances and chorus of live carolers began, he managed to sit down with the Track and bestow unto us the gift of his holiday fashion do’s for men.

Even decades before his Fashion Santa persona was born, Mason worked as a model, walking for designers like Gianni Versace, Dior and Armani, and even graced the cover of Vogue. So in the spirit of giving, we pass on his sage style must-haves — in his own words and wrapped in a big red bow:

  • Accessories. You should accessorize because this is the time to bust them out — bowties, ties, cufflinks, pocket squares, all of that. A watch is great. And if you’re into shoes, bring out the patent leather loafers, if you have them. Bring out the bling. Every brand makes them, so they’re all out there at every price point. A dark suit. Everyone should have one and it should be essential to every man’s wardrobe. You can go from daytime, when, say you don’t wear a tie, and then you can slap a tie on it and make it formal. So that suit can be key in letting you go from the office to a party and look smashing.

  • Texture. This is the season for those rich textures and colors. It wouldn’t hurt to invest in a velvet blazer. I know you can’t wear it everywhere, but this is the time to wear it. They come in some really deep burgundies, the navy blues are beautiful, obviously green if it’s a nice dark (shade). Honestly, I think I’m the only one who can get away with bright red. But that can also translate into silks and satins. So you can actually combine all the different textures. That’s not to say you can’t do wool and tweeds, as well, but I just find that the holidays are synonymous with velvets and satins. Everything in the holidays is shiny and glistening, so if you’re going to have fun with it, do it now. No one is going to say, “Oh, look, that guy’s way over-dressed,” because you kind of expect it.

  • Fit. If something is ill-fitting — even if you spend a ton of money on it — it’s probably not looking like the amount that you spent on it, so I would be consciously aware of fit. You don’t have to break the bank for fit. I hate if this sounds really pretentious, but there’s no reason not to have something fitting well because there are so many options. If you can’t afford a designer brand, go with a better-fitting lower-cost label.

  • Capture it. Because I’m the selfie king, you should always capture your look. At the end of the day, you might as well take a record of it when you’re at these holiday parties.”

Dress for Success Boston is a wonderful organization that is committed to empowering women to break the cycle of poverty and provide them with better, more independent futures. This month at the Ritz-Carlton Boston, Dress for Success held a Style + Soul fashion show fundraiser, and we were thrilled to be there to support a great cause and capture the event. The event was emceed by philanthropist and fashionista Erica Corsano, and featured a catwalk fashion show with 11 local celebrity models.

The evening began with a red carpet entrance, followed by the presentations and Style + Soul fashion show. The Ritz-Carlton Boston was transformed with a white rose-lined catwalk, crystal and white chiavaris, and white lounge furniture for guests to enjoy while watching the show. Celebrity models included local talent from Mix 104.1, WROR 105.7, publications like Boston Magazine and the Improper Bostonian, Miss Massachusetts USA Allissa Latham and producer and host of WCVB’s Chronicle Shayna Seymour (also a former P+K bride!). A cocktail reception followed the fashion show, where guests were given Bloomingdales “little brown bags” to fill with take away gifts donated by both Bloomingdales and Whole Foods.

We were so honored to be included in this beautiful event for a good cause, special thanks to designer and producer Julie Freed and The Conception Group for including us, to the Ritz-Carlton Boston for hosting, and a big congratulations to Dress for Success Boston for a successful evening all around!

It’s the most wonderful time of the year at the Ritz-Carlton Boston! Its time again for one of our favorite holiday traditions, the annual Ritz-Carlton holiday soiree right in the heart of downtown Boston. We’ve photographed this event for many years now, and have seen so many of their fun and inventive party themes — Parisian Soiree, Winter Wonderland, and Venetian Masquerade just to name a few. This year the Ritz-Carlton celebrated their 90th anniversary, and to honor the hotel’s initial opening back in 1927 the theme this year was the Roaring 20’s.

For this year’s soiree, the hotel was transformed into a 1920’s speakeasy — complete with red velvet curtains, black and white decor, opulent gold and silver details, and lots of tassels. An old black-and-white video of the city streets was projected right at the entrance, so guests could really feel like they were walking back in time into the roaring 20’s.

During the night’s event, Music Management surprised everyone with a performance of can-can dancers and a 4-piece jazz quartet. Event partners Boston Ballet and LTI Transportation continued their annual tradition of raffling off fabulous travel getaways to a few lucky guests, and everyone brought an unwrapped gift to share for a child in need.

We always love being a part of this holiday tradition at the Ritz-Carlton Boston. Reconnecting with industry friends, helping those in need, and sharing in the holiday cheer are what make this season great!

Spring wedding season is officially upon us! This gorgeous Cape Club of Sharon wedding was the perfect reflection of this beautiful season — colorful spring bouquets, sunny skies, and the sprawling green grounds of the newly renovated Cape Club of Sharon (formally the Spring Valley Country Club).

The bride and groom had their first look just outside the club on the golf course, and were even joined by their dog Nike for a few formal photos. The traditional Jewish wedding ceremony took place inside the club, which was draped with soft pink fabric to create an elegant and intimate environment. Samantha and Bobby said their “I do”s underneath a gorgeous purple and white floral chuppah designed by the team at Marc Hall Design.

The drapes were removed for the reception, which opened up the beautiful newly renovated room into a bright and sunny spring space. The floor-to-ceiling windows made for the perfect backdrop, and allowed the guests the perfect view of the golf course. The color theme continued at the reception, with gorgeous purple floral centerpieces offset by metallic silver linens and modern white ballroom chairs.  Guests ate, drank, and danced the night away as the sun set over the greens.

We enjoyed every minute of this Cape Club of Sharon spring wedding, and we are grateful to Samantha and Bobby for letting us be a part of their special day. A special thanks to Samantha and Bobby’s A-team – Nicole Simeral of Simeral & Co., Suzanne B Lowell Lighting Design, Marc Hall Design and everyone at the Cape Club of Sharon!

We always love photographing events that support a good cause. Art beCause is a wonderful organization whose mission is to educate the public on breast cancer causes and prevention, and we were honored to have photographed their 2017 Art beCause Celebrity Fashion Show.

This year’s annual event was hosted at the beautiful Wellesley Country Club, and featured delicious hors d’oeuvres, a fundraising live auction, and a lively fashion show starring some of our very own Boston celebrities!

Emcees Gretta Monahan and Robert Verdi kept the crowd entertained all night, with help from Kiss 108’s DJ Rich DiMare mixing the tunes. The Art beCause Celebrity Fashion show featured some of Boston’s top news anchors, TV hosts, and radio personalities including 7News Meteorologist Chris Lambert and Miss Massachusetts Julia Scaparotti. Also walking in the fashion show were four models who were breast cancer survivors, showing just how important the work of Art beCause is! All of the money raised at this event is used to fund research and awareness for the prevention of breast cancer.

We were honored to be a part of this wonderful event, and to help share the message of Art beCause’s important work. Special thanks to Joanie Freidman and Art beCause for having us!

By the time April rolls around every year, we are excited to be gearing up for the official start of the wedding season. While we love photographing weddings, we also love photographing social events – everything from charity galas, launch parties and of course – opening day for the Boston Red Sox. We are so honored to have been asked by the Sox to photograph the VIP party on opening day for the last five years. Needless to say, as Bostonians, it never gets old and we always have a great time!

Below are a few images from out and about on this year’s opening day along with a sneak peek at some of Fenway Park’s updated and brand new spaces launched this month. A very big thank you to our friends at the Boston Red Sox. Thank you for always reaching out to us to capture your celebrations!

Both hailing from Lynnfield, Mass, this North Shore couple have been in each other’s life since they can remember. Cristina and Brett wanted a carefree, fun wedding that showcased their classic romance at Boston’s Fairmont Copley Plaza. Preparations for the day ahead were in full swing as the ladies and gentlemen were gathered separately dressing and putting on the day’s final touches. The groom was crisp in a classic black tux. The bride wore a Marchesa Gown paired with an Oscar de la Renta veil.

The historic Cathedral of the Holy Cross was the location for their traditional Catholic  wedding ceremony. The groom’s face when he sees his bride says it all. After the exchanged their vows and a lovely ceremony, we captured some formals and fun candids in front of the Fairmont before we headed in to celebrate!

From the couple’s one-of-a-kind welcome bag to custom favor t-shirts, Cristina’s friend, Kristen Lee Barrett from Darling Creative Company and her business partner Julie Madden, were instrumental with some of the fun details throughout the day.

Classic style with fresh flowers in a soft, creamy color palette felt right at home in Grand Ballroom from Dana and his team at Dana Markos Events. Romantic lighting and glowing candles balanced with grand centerpieces made for a timeless feel. It’s no secret that Brett is a Kanye West fan.  So much so that the bride surprised the groom with a custom ‘Yeezy’ groom’s cake (they even had quotes from Kanye on their cocktail napkins).  The t-shirts the couple gave out at the end of the night featured a sketch of the moment just after Brett proposed to Cristina. After toasts, formalities, and dinner, the party kicked into to full gear with a packed dance floor of all ages.  Congratulations again to Cristina and Brett – thank you for letting Person + Killian be a part of your fun day!

As always, we can’t say enough great things about the vendors we get to work with and in particular the staff at the Fairmont Copley Plaza and the expert ways of Tracey Gavin.

Earlier this month we had the pleasure of working with Emily and her family for her Boston based, New York City themed Bat Mitzvah. We loved capturing this beautiful, fun and energetic day at Granite Links Golf Club.

From Stephanie Stark of Janie Haas Events – Planner and Coordinator for Emily’s big celebration: “When I first met back with Emily and her Mother and Grandmother back in 2014 (yes! 2 full years before the Bat Mitzvah), I knew we were going to have a lot of fun creating a fun, energetic and over the top celebration. Their expectation from Day One was to be unique, outside the box and provide an experience their guests would never forget. As I got to know Emily and her interests, I  learned that Emily is very social, she has TONS of close friends, she LOVES to dance and loves spending time in her favorite place – NYC!

They first approached me with the idea of a NYC theme, we wanted to think outside the “cliché NYC theme” box and try to shake it up a bit by introducing nods to the neighborhoods of NYC. As guests arrived, they were greeted with a larger than life NYC scape, including a giant billboard featuring Emily’s name and a collage of photos, the Statue of Liberty, NYC skyscrapers and even the Freedom Tower. Kids enjoyed their cocktail hour in a fun and urban setting, reminiscent of Brooklyn / Lower Manhattan, complete with a graffiti bar, graffiti trash can cocktail tables, graffiti artists and a couple fun street games.

The ballroom space, where guests spent the bulk of the night eating, drinking and dancing the night away gleamed and sparkled like the finest nightclub in Upper Manhattan. Siagel Productions kept the guests dancing all night long, the DJ spinning from the top of a 5ft gold mirror riser! For dinner, we themed the stations to reflect various NYC neighborhoods – We had a fabulous Chinatown Station, a plentiful Meat Packing District station and a delicious Little Italy themed food station. The adult dining tables were adorned with the most gorgeous vibrant color flowers, provided by Raymond Felton and Jimmy Guzman of Marc Hall Designs. The kids sat in fun cabana style lounges and serpentine tables provided by Art of the Event.

There were 3 event logos that were created especially for Emily and the logos were EVERYWHERE, from custom lounge pillows, to stickers on Asian to go boxes, to decals on table tops and everywhere in between. We capped off the night with an elaborate dessert display, themed the nines, provided by Sweet Indulgence from Cranston, RI. As guests left their NYC experience, they loaded up goodie bags with every imaginable sweet treat.

From soup to nuts, no details were overlooked. We had the BEST experience working with these clients and felt honored to bring this vision and experience, two years in the making, to life with the help of an amazing team of Boston’s Top vendors.”

Mazel Tov to Emily and her family!  A big thank you to Sara and her wonderful team at Granite Links for being wonderful to work with and to to Stephanie, Diana and the team at Janie Haas Events for introducing us to this wonderful family and giving Emily the day she had been dreaming of!
