You don’t have to pick just one style when it comes to planning your wedding day. More and more often, couples are mixing different themes and looks to make their wedding celebration perfectly unique to their vision. You might think that “traditional” and “modern” wouldn’t work together, but we love seeing how brides and grooms are taking their favorite elements from different styles and blending them together. This is exactly how bride Erika described her vision for her wedding day — “a blend of modern with traditional elements”.

Erika and her groom Jimmy started their wedding day at The Langham Boston. The ladies got prepped and pampered in bright and colorful floral robes before changing into their dresses — a strapless sweetheart gown for Erika and champagne bridesmaid dresses for her bridal party. It was a quick walk across the street to Post Office Square where Erika and Jimmy met for their first look. We took some formal photos of the entire wedding party and some solo shots with just the bride and groom at Post Office Square before hopping in a trolley and driving to the Seaport area for photos overlooking the Boston Harbor and city skyline. Then it was back onto the trolley and off to the State Room for the wedding to begin.

For a wedding mixing both traditional and modern elements, the State Room Boston was the perfect fit. Erika and Jimmy’s wedding ceremony was held in the Great Room, which featured classic white draping, towering floral arrangements on mirror pedestals, and of course the unbeatable view of the city below. Following the ceremony, guests moved upstairs to the mezzanine for cocktails while the Great Room was transformed for dinner and dancing. The couple chose a soft color palette of blushes, gold, and ivory — champagne linens, gold and white chiavaris and gold-accented charger plates and flatware added a touch of traditional elegance to the decor. Classic white floral arrangements were mixed with modern vases filled with submerged flowers — a perfect blend of traditional and contemporary styles. A custom set of “E & J” lights lit  up the dance floor, with a modern lounge set nearby for guests to relax.

Special thanks to the entire team at the State Room Boston and to Erika and Jimmy for letting us be a part of their gorgeous spring wedding — we had a blast!

For Kristen and Keith, the most important thing at their InterContinental Boston Spring Wedding was that all of their family and friends smiled, laughed, danced, and had a good time. They certainly got their wish, and so much more, on their gorgeous wedding weekend.

This wedding was a beautiful mix of classic, elegant, and colorfully modern. Kristen wanted their wedding day to be pink and silver, with touches of navy blue and as much sparkle as possible. The bodice of her wedding dress featured sparkly silver detailing, and she carried a bright pink bouquet of roses. Bridesmaids matched in pale pink sparkling dresses, and Keith and his groomsmen wore navy blue suits. The entire wedding party got ready for the day at the InterContinental Boston before heading to the new Shrine of Our Lady of Good Voyage, which happened to be directly across the water from the InterContinental Boston and was celebrating their own one year anniversary on that very same weekend.

Following the church wedding ceremony, the couple drove off as happy newlyweds in a classic white Rolls Royce. We met up with the whole wedding party back at the InterContinental Boston for some formal photos in the Rose Kennedy Greenway across the street from the hotel, then took the couple out to the waterfront for some photos along the harbor. Kristen and Keith got a sneak peek of the InterContinental Boston ballroom, which featured gorgeous pink and white floral centerpieces, a classic white dance floor, sparkling silver linens, and an arrangement of sparkling lights dangling from the ceiling above it all. The couple added so many wonderful personal touches to their wedding day, including photos of their dog featured on each of the table numbers and a donation to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation in honor of the bride’s brother (he’s the one dressed as a giant dinosaur on the dance floor)!

At the end of the day, Kristen and Keith got to see their wedding dreams come true as guests danced, laughed, and celebrated this wonderful couple all night. Both the band and DJ from Entertainment Specialists kept the dance floor packed, and friends and family were so happy to be there to celebrate with the bride and groom.

The Museum of Science Boston was the perfect destination for the recent spring wedding of Elyse and Hari. After getting ready and a first look in the court yard of The Liberty Hotel, Elyse, Hari and their wedding party wanted to take advantage of some of Boston’s more hidden gem spaces for their photos. We stopped at Post Office Square and then headed to North Point Park before heading across the street to the Museum.

Elyse and Hari fell in love with the Pavillion space outside of the Museum with the traditional Jewish ceremony right on the Charles River overlooking both the Boston and Cambridge skylines. Dinner and dancing followed both under the Pavilion and adjoining tent on the water.

From the bride: “We wanted a romantic, elegant, whimsical and relaxed day with a slightly bohemian feel. For design, we wanted to focus on the greenery of the flowers for the bridal party and family. The colors of the day were a mix of soft blues, the floral greenery, gray and silver.” With the tent nestled in the trees on the waterfront, everything came together perfectly.

A big thank you to newlyweds Elyse and Hari and to the team at the Museum of Science Boston for always being so wonderful to work with!

We love when couples are able to bring their own unique history, story, and traditions into the celebration of their wedding day, and this beautiful Taj Boston spring wedding was the perfect reflection of brides Channah and Shikha.

This two-day celebration was a unique mix between the couple’s heritage — Channah’s Jewish traditions and Shikha’s Hindu traditions made for a truly one-of-a-kind wedding weekend. The events began on Friday with a Mehndi celebration and rehearsal dinner at the Park Plaza with toasts, dinner, and traditional Indian dancing from Shikha’s friends. Both brides wore gorgeous green saris, which matched perfectly with the spring trees in the Public Garden where we took the couple for photos before the party.

Saturday’s wedding day was held at the Taj Boston Rooftop, and began with the couple’s first look in the Boston Public Garden surrounded by friends and family. Channah wore a beautiful  white wedding gown while Shikha wore a traditional ornate red and gold sari.

The day’s events featured both Hindu and Jewish traditions, with a ketubah signing, a chuppa, and both Jewish and Hindu prayers during the wedding ceremony on the Rooftop. Guests enjoyed cocktails, dinner, and traditional Indian and Jewish dancing as they celebrated this wonderful couple on their very special wedding day!

From the couple: We are so glad to celebrate with our family and friends! We hope for a wedding day full of spring colors, blushes, ivories, sage greens – that celebrates both of our cultures and religions. We have been together for 6 years and are overjoyed to be making it official!

Congratulations to this beautiful couple, and thank you for letting us be a part of your extraordinary Taj Boston Spring wedding.

Suzy and Pat wanted the look and feel of their wedding to be classic, timeless and elegant with a touch of fairy tale and the Fairmont Copley Plaza was the perfect location. After the getting ready and first look at the Fairmont, we headed to the Commonwealth Avenue Mall for photos as well as the Boston College campus before the ceremony at St. Ignatius. Cocktail hour took place back at the hotel in the Venetian Room and the reception took place in the Oval Room with music by Groove Authority keeping the celebration going and guests on their feet.

Suzy and Pat chose mint green, pale pinks and gold for the colors of the day with the bridesmaids in floor length mint green dresses by Amsale from Allegria Bridal of Belmont. The flowers were a mix of white hydrangeas with shades of pink peonies and roses. The gold throughout the venue was accented with pops in everything from the menus to the Suzy and her bridesmaid’s shoes.

From the bride: “Pat and I met at Boston College, so we always knew we wanted to get married at St. Ignatius Church on the BC campus. The Fairmont Copley Plaza was always where I wanted to have my wedding reception. As a child, my dad would take me every year into Boston for First Night each New Year’s Day to see the ice sculptures. I would always love seeing the gold lion statues outside of the Copley. When I was six, there had been a New Year’s Eve wedding the night before and they were having brunch the next morning in the Oval Room. I peaked my head into the room and told my dad I was going to have my wedding at the Copley when I grew up.”

A big congratulations to the newlyweds Suzy + Pat and thank  you to the amazing team at the Fairmont Copley Plaza for always being so wonderful to work with!

Summer is in full swing for us and we are having such a great year with all of our wonderful couples. Following the recent wedding of Nicole + Trent at the Ritz-Carlton, Boston Common we asked the newlyweds to describe the story of their beautiful wedding day.

“While neither of us are from Boston, my family lives there now, and it’s become a bit of an adopted hometown. With most guests traveling from out of town to attend, we wanted to find a reception spot that showcased all the fantastic things the city has to offer. We also wanted to make sure the food was exceptional. (We’re Italians – enough said). We found all this and more with the Ritz Carlton, Boston Commons. Working with Ralph Black at the Ritz was a dream. He and his team thought of everything, and made the entire experience, from the year-long planning to day-of execution, special, fun and easy. Trent and I felt like royalty throughout the process, and then the wedding weekend itself took things to the next level. Our guests are still talking about the exceptional service.

I feel like the wedding day came and went too quickly! We had a great team of vendors, that worked seamlessly together and the day flowed perfectly. Getting ready with my bridesmaids and mom in my suite was so fun, while Trent and his groomsmen did the same in his. I remember at one point sitting in the make-up chair, overlooking the incredible view we had of the Commons, and feeling beyond blessed.

Our ceremony was held at St. Ignatius of Loyola Parish, on the campus of Boston College, where my parents are parishioners. The service passed by in a blur (probably not to our guests- it was a full Catholic mass!) — but it was extremely meaningful to both Trent and I, as our officiating priest has been a huge blessing to us during the marriage preparation process. The homily he gave made the large wedding feel intimate, and truly conveyed how Trent and I felt about the rite of marriage itself.

Afterwards, we took the majority of photos around campus. With a bridal party full of Florida Gators (including the two of us!), everyone swallowed their pride and had a great time taking shots in landmark areas around BC.

The reception could not have been more perfect…. And it passed by so quickly, despite being 5 hours long! It was an incredible night. My vision was classic elegance, with soft colors and gold details. Mimosa, our florist, created just that. We also wanted our guests to have FUN. The dance floor started to heat up before the first course was even served, so it’s safe to say they did! Our band, Groove Authority, did a great job playing to the crowd, and before we knew it, everyone (and I mean EVERYONE) was dancing. The icing on the cake (pun intended) was just how phenomenal the food was. And it was endless … another Italian requirement.

With a wedding on the larger-side, Trent and I wanted to make sure that all who attended felt included, special and knew how grateful we were to have them there celebrating with us – our closest family and friends, and those who have meant and will continue to mean so much to both Trent and I. It was the best night of our lives, and we are so grateful to all who helped make it that – which was truly everyone in attendance.”

Thank you so much Nicole + Trent for sharing the story of your day with us and congratulations again! It was truly a pleasure capturing your wedding day. And as always, a big thank you to Ralph and his team at the Ritz-Carlton, Boston Common for being so wonderful to work with!
