One of our absolutely favorite things to do is to be able to give back to those in the Boston wedding industry who have continuously supported us throughout the years. Now that spring has finally arrived and before the start of the wedding season we decided to celebrate a with a dinner party and could not be more thrilled with how perfect the evening turned out.

We asked our dear friend Amy Kimball (owner of Amy Kimball Events) to once again help us plan this celebration as she has done in the past. With so many of our talented friends in the industry, she was able to put this unforgettable evening together.

As guests arrived, they were greeted with a ‘champagne’ escort card and cocktail hour with Champy by Jenny Johnson. Dinner followed and was a five-course tasting menu and wine pairing by Capers Catering. Dinner was followed by gold brushed individual wedding cakes from Jenny’s Wedding Cakes.

For the decor, 17 white Murano glass chandeliers from Suzanne B. Lowell Lighting were hung dramatically low lining the 70 feel of black, crocodile leather tables and silver chrome chairs from Reserve Modern Event Rental who provided all the rentals. 1,500 white tulips tightly hedged in 65 feet of boxwood created by Dana Markos Events played perfectly off the white chandeliers. Our photography was showcased on a 30 food wall canvas and the door images by ICL Imaging framing the entire event. As dinner was taking place, the Valinor Quartet (Music Management) played and added the perfect touch to the warmth of the atmosphere.

A heartfelt thank you to all of our dear friends and colleagues who came out to celebrate such a special evening with us and a world of thanks and appreciation to all who helped create this magical night.

A heartfelt thank you to Christian Nachtrieb of Brighter Lights Media for the film!

As 2016 comes to an end, we wanted to take a moment to reflect on this unforgettable year of weddings and events in Boston and beyond. The year brought with it 100 + weddings, mitzvahs and events. We traveled near and far throughout New England from Cape Cod to the White Mountains, and of course captured many weddings in our favorite city Boston!

As we look back on this season of events, we can say that we have had the chance to work with the most amazing couples and talented industry friends! You are all truly what makes what we do so special, memorable and what continues to make us love what we do! With much sincere appreciation we say thank you! This year we begin 2017 with nothing but gratitude. Thank you for sharing your lives with us and allowing us to document such important celebrations.

Wishing you all a Happy New Year with the hope that you will have health, happiness and success in the year to come! All our best, Lauren + Jill

For this week’s Boston Venue Spotlight we are thrilled to be showcasing the exquisite Boston Public Library with The Catered Affair. Founded in 1848, boasting stunning architecture and European charm, it’s no surprise The Boston Public Library has been featured in Best Venues in America. We have photographed show-stopping weddings at the Boston Public Library and consider ourselves pretty lucky that one of our country’s most historic and unique wedding venues is in our very own backyard!

When planning a wedding at the Boston Public Library there are several elegant spaces that will match any wedding style or inspiration.  The Abbey Room was designed after a palace in Venice and is chock-full of elegant details including rich wood paneling, full size murals, dramatic high ceilings, and marble fireplace. The Guastavino Room is ideal for those seeking a light and airy feel. Perfect for seated dinner receptions, this space boasts remarkable ceilings and columns with a slightly more modern touch. Ideal for cocktail receptions and cake cutting is the Chavannes Gallery. This space is adorned with wall murals and has an incredible view of the Boston Public Library’s grand marble staircase, which makes for some of our favorite photographs! Bates Hall, known as one of the main rooms of the library, is perfect for our newlyweds-to-be with a larger wedding. It showcases impressive domed ceilings and has fifteen windows overlooking Copley Square. Last but certainly not least, is the Boston Public Library’s lush and romantic Courtyard. Is there really anything more beautiful than be married in an outdoor courtyard beside a softly illuminated fountain with your guests nestled under the archways?

The Catered Affair, a full-service catering and event planning company, is yet another perk to choosing The Boston Public Library as your wedding venue. From passed hour-devours, full seated dinners to jaw-dropping dessert bars, The Catered affair will stun you and your guests with incredibly creative and mouthwatering cuisine that truly tastes as good as it looks.

Whether you’re wedding is large or small, summer or winter, the Boston Public Library and the Catered Affair offer endless beauty and versatility! Check out why we love photographing weddings at this historic and beautiful Boston venue in some of our 2015 wedding photography featured below:

We are so excited that the Spring wedding season is finally upon us! After a long, cold winter it was so nice to warm up with an elegant Fairmont Copley Plaza Boston wedding.

Ashley and Christopher started their day getting ready at the Fairmont before making the short walk to the historic Old South Church in the heart of Copley Square. The beautiful wood detailing and colorful stained glass made the perfect backdrop for the afternoon ceremony.

Guests headed back to the Fairmont for cocktails while the happy newlyweds took advantage of the warm weather to take photos outside in Copley Square. The wedding reception took place in the stunning Fairmont Copley Plaza ballroom, which was enhanced with pops of black, white, silver, and pale pink from the floral centerpieces to the bejeweled cake.

This black tie event was truly beautiful, and we were so happy to have been a part of it. Special thanks to Tracey Gavin and her entire team at the Fairmont for a wonderful night, congratulations Ashley and Christopher!

The weather is finally beginning to warm up, and we were delighted to head to the beach for Alexis and Justin’s Cape Cod wedding at the Wychmere Beach Club. After getting ready at a nearby inn, the bride and groom met on the beach for their first look. With the beautiful weather, we were thrilled to spend time on the private beach at Wychmere for photographs with the couple and their wedding party.

The ceremony was held ocean-side on the Wychmere lawn at sunset followed by cocktail hour in the Hydrangea Room.  For the reception, guest were welcomed into the Harbor Room filled with blush, white and gold décor and soft violet lighting. Guests enjoyed a panoramic view of the serene Cape Cod Harbor for dinner, dancing and celebrating with the bride and groom for the evening.

Congratulations Alexis and Justin and thank you to the Longwood Events team for being so wonderful to work with as always!

Another year has passed and what a year it has been! As we approach the close of the 2013 season, we wanted to take a few minutes to reflect on what an incredible year this has been. We photographed nearly 100 weddings, mitzvahs and events throughout New England. On top of that, we photographed an amazing destination wedding in Hawaii and were honored with being hired to photograph private events for the Boston Red Sox 2013 Playoffs and World Series. We truly fee humbled by all the amazing clients and industry friends who have put their trust in us in 2013.

With much sincere appreciation we say thank you! Thank you for sharing your lives with us and allowing us to document such important celebrations. Below are just a few of the many wonderful people who we had the pleasure meeting and working with this year. We adore you all an as we look at each photo we smile and remember how much fun we had at each and every event! Wishing everyone a fantastic 2014! – Cheers,  Laurén + Jill

Like so many others all over the world, Person + Killian Photography had a chance to get involved with the Royal Wedding festivities thanks to the Chronicle HD Boston!

We are honored to have been featured on last night’s Royal Wedding episode of WCVB Channel 5’s Chronicle. The fabulous Shayna Seymour interviewed us on Royal trends in photography and followed us along with Marianna and Rob (a 2011 P+K couple) on an engagement session in the Back Bay.

We had a great time watching the show at the W Boston where Tasha Bracken of SD Events (also featured in the episode) hosted a cocktail party. Our dear friend Dana Markos of Dana Markos Events was also interviewed by Shayna for the show.

A special thanks to Tasha for throwing the event and to Dana for his beautiful flower arrangements that were inspired by the popular fascinators worn by all of the women at the wedding.

The celebration continued with a viewing party at the SD Events office in Newton that was covered by WHDH Channel 7 Boston this morning where we drank tea, wore some fabulous hats and fascinators that were provided by Lance McBrayer of Glam Couture for the momentous occasion.

Last weekend Person + Killian Photography headed out to the Larz Anderson Auto Museum along with many others from the Boston Wedding Group.

The Brookline estate made for a great backdrop for newly engaged couples where they had the opportunity to see what’s new in photography, floral arrangements, invitations and more. Guests were treated to live music and some of the latest culinary trends while also having the chance to tour the exhibits. It was a fantastic afternoon and we were thrilled to be a part of the event alongside so many talented professionals.

This event is filled under Photography and Wedding Inspiration and ideas, Wedding Reception Locations and Boston Wedding Professionals.

Person + Killian Photography recently got a mini-tour of some of Boston’s finest locales for the wedding of Katherine and Ronnie. Katherine works for The Best of Boston, LTD., so she already knew what she was looking for in her wedding photographers and locations.

The day began at The Ames Hotel, where the bridal party got ready. This is a fairly new hotel, so we were excited to have an opportunity to shoot in a new venue. Not only is it full of natural light, but it also offers a great view of downtown Boston!

Before the ceremony, we made two stops to get some pictures. The first, for formals, was at the always-beautiful Boston Public Garden. The second stop, per Ronnie’s request, was at the Boston Harbor Hotel for a quick photo under the arch.

From there, we headed to the ceremony site – the Old North Church in Boston’s historic North End. Situated right on the Freedom Trail, the church provided us a great location to capture some beautiful images.

One of our favorite shots of the day was this photo of little Annie, the adorable flower girl.

Following the ceremony, the celebration moved to the Hampshire House on Beacon St. The Library (just one of the rooms Hampshire House has to offer) boasts floor-to-ceiling bookshelves and a gorgeous marble fireplace, which help create a cozy, intimate atmosphere for dining.

All in all, it was a perfect day. We had the joy of photographing a wonderful couple, as well as visiting some of Boston’s best venues. We also always enjoy doing events at the Hampshire House. Thank you to Michelle Reid and her team. As always, they were so great to work with!

Congratulations, Katherine and Ronnie!

Person + Killian Photography recently had another great wedding at the Chatham Bars Inn on Cape Cod. This time, we were there for Laura and Bob’s beautiful seaside affair!

We kicked off the big day at the Inn, where the bridal party got ready. Laura wore her long hair down, and enlisted stylist Amy Hudson to create soft, flowing waves. Makeup artist Rebecca Hickey used a light, neutral color palette to give the bride an elegant, yet natural look.

Once the bride had donned her gorgeous Amsale gown, it was time to head to the South Lawn for the beachside ceremony. Along with her beautiful white and ivory bouquet by Lilacs, Laura carried an heirloom lace handkerchief, which had been in the family for more than 100 years!

Following the ceremony, the festivities moved to the Boat House for cocktails, and ultimately, to the Beach House for dinner and dancing. The pale green, ivory, and white color scheme was present throughout the day, and afforded the entire event a beautifully organic, yet distinctly ‘Cape Cod’, feeling.

A big thank you to Cape Cod wedding Planner Allison Liset, for once again being such a pleasure to work with! Congratulations Laura and Bob, and thank you for trusting Person + Killian Photography to capture your special day!
