We love it when couples think outside the box and choose a fun and unique wedding venue for a truly one-of-a-kind event! Leigh Anne + Zach wanted their special day to be fun, casual, and  unique — and their New England Aquarium wedding was all that and more.

We first met up with the bride at the InterContinental Hotel Boston, where she and her bridesmaids were getting dressed and ready for the day’s events. Zach and his groomsmen were getting ready at their home in Charlestown, and the bride and groom decided not to see each other before the walk down the aisle. Once hair and makeup was all finished up and the dress was on, we took advantage of the beautiful Autumn day and took Leigh Anne and her bridesmaids outside the InterContinental for some pre-ceremony photos before making the trip to Charlestown for the ceremony.

The traditional Catholic wedding ceremony took place at the beautiful Saint Mary – Saint Catherine of Siena Parish in Charlestown. We love capturing that moment when the groom sees his bride for the first time as she’s walking down the aisle, it’s always one of our favorite pictures of the day! We snapped a couple photos of the happy newlyweds at the church after the “I do”s, and headed back down to Boston to get the party started.

Before joining guests at the New England Aquarium for cocktails, we took Leigh Anne, Zach, and their wedding party back to the InterContinental Hotel Boston for some beautiful nighttime photos out on the waterfront. Meanwhile, guests enjoyed cocktails at one of the most unique locations in Boston — right along side the New England Aquarium’s main tank and exhibit gallery. They could sip their drinks, enjoy passed hors d’oeuvres, and take in the sights of the one-of-a-kind 200,000 gallon Giant Ocean Tank and it’s 2,000 fishy inhabitants! This was definitely not your typical wedding cocktail hour.

Following cocktails, the party moved outside to the New England Aquarium’s Harbor Terrace Tent, right on the Boston Harbor waterfront. Here is what Leigh Anne had to say about her inspiration for this beautiful New England Aquarium wedding reception:

Zach and I really wanted a unique spot for our reception. We were looking for something fun, casual, yet romantic. The tent at the Aquarium was a perfect mix. We chose neutral colors like ivory and champagne for linens and flowers and added purple uplighting to the tent. To soften the look inside the tent we also added white drapery, bee lights, and twig chandeliers.

We were so happy to share this unique New England Aquarium wedding day with Leigh Anne, Zachary, and all their family and friends. Special thanks to the InterContinental Hotel Boston, the whole team at the New England Aquarium, and Leigh Anne + Zach for being so great to work with! Congratulations!

When we asked Elizabeth + Randolph to describe the look and feel of their wedding day, they said “rustic, romantic, and shabby chic”! This beautiful summer wedding took place at the Inn at Pleasant Lake in New London, NH, and was full of cute and creative DIY details that really showed the fun personalities of the bride and groom. With details like a clothespin photo wall and chalkboard signs, this lakeside wedding was a perfect mix of rustic country and elegant chic!

Elizabeth spend the morning with her bridesmaids getting ready at her mom’s lake house, located on the water of Lake Sunapee while Randolph and the groomsmen got ready at a nearby home on the water. The atmosphere was fun and casual — the ladies got their hair and makeup done, helped Elizabeth get into her wedding gown, and hung out with the couple’s three adorable dogs that made the trip all the way up from New York for the wedding day! We took Elizabeth and her wedding party outside for some formal photos on their private bridge before heading off to the church.

The wedding ceremony was held at the beautiful First Baptist Church of New London, an adorably quaint New England church in New London, NH. Elizabeth + Randolph’s unique wedding program featured an illustrated introduction of their entire wedding party, as well as “fun facts” about the bride and groom on the back. The inside of the white church was accented with large blue, green, and white floral arrangements from Winston Flowers, as well as a summery floral wreath underneath the pulpit.

Following the ceremony, we made our way to the Inn at Pleasant Lake for the reception, and took advantage of the late summer sunshine with some more wedding party pictures right on the shores of the beautiful lake. While the rest of the wedding party headed up to the wedding tent to enjoy cocktails, we spent a few minutes lakeside, taking pictures with Elizabeth and Randolph before beginning the evening party.

The tented wedding reception was full of fun rustic chic details — the tables were covered in burlap-colored linens and surrounded by wooden cabin chairs. Guests were directed to their dinner tables with personalized postcard escort cards, hung with clothespins on a fun DIY twine. Guests were welcomed into the tent with a rustic wooden door covered top to bottom in adorable pictures of Elizabeth + Randolph! Winston Flowers added a fun pop of blue and green to the reception tent with their beautiful arrangements.

After the first dance, dinner, and formal toasts from friends and family, the party really kicked off. Purple up lights filled the tent with color, and sparkling china lanterns were lit up around the outside of the tent. Even the trees outside the tent were covered in strings of white light, perfect for a fun summer wedding night. Everyone had a blast celebrating this day with such a wonderful and fun couple, and we were thrilled to be there with them to capture it all! Thank you to Elizabeth + Randolph for including us in your special day!

Erin and Hayes really took advantage of this beautiful summer season at their Fairmont Copley Plaza Wedding in late July. They incorporated lots of fresh summer flowers and soft summer colors into their classic and elegant ballroom wedding.

Erin’s beautiful summer bouquet was full of white roses and peonies, and accented with subtle hints of purple and green. Her bridesmaids wore dark navy chiffon dresses and carried stunning bouquets in shades of creme, purple, and blush. The bride and groom decided not to see each other before the wedding, so we headed straight to the gorgeous chapel at St. Cecilia’s once the ladies were ready for the traditional Catholic ceremony!

We made the quick trip from St. Cecilia’s to the Boston Public Garden following the ceremony for some sunny outdoor wedding photos with Erin, Hayes, and their wedding party. The summer weather could not have been more perfect for the outdoor formals! The evening reception took place in the Fairmont Copley Plaza’s Oval Room — the gold and champagne colored walls, curtains, and crystal chandelier were matched perfectly by simple textured white linens and beautiful summer floral centerpieces. The newlyweds chose a mix of tall arrangements in elegant clear vases and smaller mixes of the same flowers. The summer flowers were white, pink, and soft blush, and the tables were paired with gold chiavari ballroom chairs matched with white cushions.

After the romantic first dance and toasts from friends and family, Erin and Hayes cut their gorgeous four-tiered white wedding cake — decorated with cascading creme-colored roses and displayed on a bright gold stand, surrounded by soft blush summer rose petals.

We could not have asked for a more beautiful summer wedding, with a perfect mix of classic elegance, traditional details, and fun summer colors. As always a big thank you to Alice Fay and her entire team at the Fairmont Copley Plaza for always being so lovely to work with! Cheers to another beautiful event, and congratulations Erin + Hayes!

We love working with couples with a lot of personality — and Danielle + Chris fit the bill perfectly! Their beautiful Hyatt Regency Boston wedding was classic and beautiful, with lots of fun details to show off their bright and colorful personalities. Above everything else, the couple wanted their guests to have a fun night — and thanks to the fabulous planners at lolagraceEVENTS, everyone certainly did!

Danielle’s strapless white wedding gown was accented with a simple black belt for a fun and classic look, and paired with a bright bouquet of romantic red roses — the same flowers that would be used later at their reception. We loved her reaction when she opened her wedding day gift from her groom, two tickets to Justin Timberlake! Meanwhile, Chris and his groomsmen had a blast getting ready for the day, and even showed off some of their putting skills before getting on their suits and ties.

The bride and groom said their “I do”s at the beautiful chapel of St. Anthony’s in Revere, Ma, before heading back to the Hyatt Regency Boston for the evening reception. We loved the romantic feeling of the decor, Danielle + Chris had chosen black, white, and crimson as their inspiration colors and it really made everything pop. Their escort cards were printed with white calligraphy on black card stock, and there were lots of fun signs throughout the event with a matching swirly font. You really got a sense of this couple’s fun-loving nature just by looking at their wedding! Here’s what their event planner Rachael from lolagraceEVENTS had to say about their design and inspiration:

Danielle + Chris are a very charismatic, kind + FUN couple! They wanted their wedding to be unlike anything that anyone had experienced before. Comprising an All-Star vendor team was vital in creating the uniquely energetic + creative vibe that she wanted her guests to experience while at their wedding. The color palette was selected in advance of anything else… Danielle was set on a black + white wedding while Chris’ only request was to incorporate a splash of crimson… so Danielle was a very gracious bride and allowed her groom his one request! But given Danielle’s thoughtful nature she treated Chris with a couple of surprises throughout the evening: his very own specialty cocktail that was “crimson” colored + custom rolled cigars for each guest from The Boston Cigar Factory (paired with their very own wine that they made at The Boston Winery)! Over 2000 red roses were used to adorn the guest tables… giving off a very classic look with a creative spin on the red rose! Each piece of paper was a custom design… from the save the dates to the invitations to the signage throughout the event… their was a consistent vibe communicated to their guests and that was to HAVE FUN!  If I were to use three words to describe the style of Danielle + Chris’ wedding I would easily say: Modern. Romantic. FUN.

Congratulations to Danielle + Chris on a perfect wedding day, and special thanks to Rachael and lolagraceEVENTS for another beautiful evening!

It was the first weekend of the season that really felt like summer, and we were so happy to celebrate the gorgeous weather with Elizabeth and Ben at their Harvard Club of Boston Wedding in Back Bay!

Elizabeth and her wedding party started the day getting ready in the beautiful rooms above the Harvard Club. The bride wore a classic white lace wedding gown, a great choice for the late-spring heat, and her bridesmaids matched perfectly in strapless champagne-colored gowns. The bouquets from Stapleton Floral added a light splash of pink, purple, and green to the ladies’ dresses.

The couple’s first look and photo shoot with their bridal party took place in the Harvard Club’s Massachusetts Room — the sweeping red curtains and black and white checkered floor were perfect for a classic and elegant backdrop. After the ceremony at the nearby Church of the Advent behind Boston’s historic Beacon Hill, we took advantage of the flawless spring weather to get some shots with the newly-married couple in the Boston Public Garden!

Guests returned to the Harvard Club of Boston for the evening reception, which took place downstairs in the Club’s Harvard Hall. The dark wood-paneled walls and towering ceilings provide a great neutral color palette to accentuate with decor. The red chairs, colorful red centerpieces, and red-trimmed flatware added the perfect touch of color to this beautiful space. The Hall’s central fireplace and ornate chandeliers, along with traditional candelabras on the surrounding walls, made this wedding reception warm, intimate, and classically elegant.

Thank you to Elizabeth + Ben, and the whole team at the Harvard Club of Boston for such a wonderful wedding day!

The 2013 wedding season was in full swing last week, with gorgeous sunny weather and a beautiful wedding at the Fairmont Copley Plaza!

Lina and Jonathan couldn’t have asked for a more perfect spring day for their Boston wedding. Jonathan spent the morning, getting ready with his groomsmen at home, while Lina and her bridesmaids spent the morning at one of our favorite venues, the Fairmont Copley Plaza! The couple chose to have their Catholic wedding ceremony at St. Josephs Parish, their home church in Medford, and come back to Boston after the “I do”s for family pictures and the evening party!

The full mass ceremony ended in the afternoon, leaving us plenty of time to travel back to Boston before the Fairmont Copley Plaza reception. We took the newlyweds, their family, and the whole wedding party into the Boston Public Garden for wedding pictures and family formals, and the sun never stopped shining! We love how spring weddings in Boston give us the chance to go outside, and take full advantage of the great weather in some beautiful outdoor spaces like the Boston Public Garden.

Lina and Jonathan’s wedding reception was held in the Fairmont Copley Plaza Grand Ballroom, which the bride described as “black tie chic”. The romantic flowers were accented with pops of metallic, and the long table arrangements were displayed in bright mirrored window boxes. They had all the elements of a classic black tie wedding, with a great modern twist!

Congratulations Lina and Jonathan and thank you for trusting P+K to document this special day! We just adored working with you and your families!

When Mia, Torin and their beautiful daughter Maliya first walked through the door at Person + Killian’s Newbury Street location, Jill knew they were going to be a blast to work with on their wedding day. This über-attractive couple had infections smiles, calm demeanors and a great vision of what they wanted their wedding day at the Colonnade Hotel to be like.

Mia, a lawyer in New York City and Torin who calls both NYC and Athens home as a professional basketball player (playing for the AEK team in Greece) wanted their wedding in Boston. The ceremony took place at the Marsh Chapel on the Boston University Campus where Mia graduated from law school.  The grounds of the campus were a perfect location for their formal photographs.

We would be remiss to not mention the couple’s newest addition to the family – adorable baby Kaden! How cute are these two kids!?

The couple and their guests then headed to the Colonnade Hotel where cocktail hour took place by the rooftop pool overlooking the Back Bay.

The celebration continued in the elegant ballroom of the hotel where Mia’s vision was complete with pink uplighting, beautiful floral arrangements and a lounge area. There was even a surprise birthday cake for Torin!

Thanks to Mia and Torin for letting P+K be there to capture this special day in your lives and to Linnea Tangorra of Tangorra Wedding Planning for sending this great couple our way!

Whenever Person + Killian Photography arrives at the beautiful Boston Harbor Hotel for a wedding, we know it will be an unforgettable day. Kara and Matt’s wedding was no exception. Below are just a few of our favorite shots from their beautiful fall inspired wedding day.

Following a warm-hearted and emotional ceremony at Boston’s St. Cecilia’s Church in the South End, P+K headed to the picture perfect Boston Harbor Hotel arch for some family and wedding party formal photos followed by a few shots on the Wharf of the happy newlyweds!

For the reception, guests entered the Wharf Room which was glowing with lighting in shades of blue and purple by RC Uplighting. The look was completed with fall linens from Table Toppers of Newton and various styles of tangerine floral arrangements from Kara’s close family friend Darlene Kulesza, owner of Kaleidoscope Florals.

Thank you to Nicole Simeral and her always-gracious team for all of their hard work. Lastly, congratulations to the newlyweds and thank you for having such a great group of family and friends who were willing to brave the cold for some great shots!
