We love photographing at the InterContinental Hotel Boston . Recently, our colleague and friend Michelle, who is normally behind the scenes at the InterCon, got her time in the spotlight for her wedding day.

For most of Michelle and Brian’s family, this was a destination wedding to the beautiful city of Boston. Michelle’s family traveled from New York and New Jersey, and the groom’s family made the trip all the way from Ireland to join the couple on this special day. After Michelle and her bridesmaids got ready, we made our way downstairs to meet Brian at the church for the ceremony. Before we could leave the building Michelle got the surprise of a lifetime — all of the InterContinental Hotel Boston employees and staff had lined the halls of the lobby to greet her and wish her well. They clapped, cheered, and hugged as their friend and colleague headed off to get married, it was a truly special moment!

Following the ceremony at the Gate of Heaven Church in South Boston, we headed back to the InterCon for formal photographs. One of our favorite parts of weddings at the InterCon are the variety of locations for photos! The beautiful Boston Harbor is right behind the hotel, the Four Point Channel Park across the street is full of bright greenery, and bustling Atlantic Avenue is perfect for fun city shots. The Abigail Adams Ballroom was transformed for the reception with classic white, ivory, and gold. A rose-pattered light washed the white dance floor and the gorgeous floral arrangements were held in modern mirrored vessels surrounded by warm votive candles.

We asked Michelle to describe the vision for her wedding day, and here’s what she had to say!

We wanted our wedding to be classy, elegant, and romantic with soft hues of whites, ivory, gold, and blush. Brian is from Ireland and I’m from New York — we met in Boston and wanted to hold our wedding here in this beautiful city as it holds a special meaning for us as the place that brought us together! Our wish is that all of our family and friends enjoy this amazing historical city during their time here and that our wedding day will be filled with many happy memories, laughs, love, joy, togetherness, and celebration! We are so grateful for our families and the friends that have turned into family and are so thankful for everyone that has been able to make the journey to Boston!

Congratulations to our wonderful friend Michelle and her new husband Brian on a truly beautiful and memorable wedding day. We were honored to have been there to capture it for you. A special thanks to the entire team at the InterContinental Hotel Boston for yet another stunning event, and for making this day so special for the couple.

There are so many reasons we love working at the Ritz — the location right in the heart of Downtown Boston, the array of beautiful spaces to take wedding photos, and the classic and elegant ballroom are only a few of them! We were thrilled when Emily + Lou hired us to photograph their summer wedding at the Ritz Carlton Boston Common, and the day turned out to be perfect.

The bride and groom both started their morning getting ready at the Ritz — Emily with her bridal party and Lou with his groomsmen. When the soon-to-be newlyweds were ready, we took them downstairs to the Ballroom Foyer for their first look. The large windows gave us fantastic sunlight and the fabric textured white walls made for the perfect backdrop for this wonderful moment with the bride and groom. Next, we headed to the nearby Boston Public Garden with Emily, Lou, and their wedding party for some outdoor formal photos on this gorgeous summer afternoon!

When we returned to the Ritz Carlton Boston Common it was time for the Ketubah signing and traditional Jewish wedding ceremony. Emily + Lou became husband and wife underneath a beautiful white Chuppah, draped in fabric and featuring arrangements of classic white orchids. The floor-to-ceiling windows were also hung with soft white drapes that filled the room with beautiful sunshine as the bride and groom said I Do! The party moved into the  beautiful Studio room for cocktails, while the finishing touches were made to the ballroom inside.

The reception was classic and elegant, featuring a gorgeous mix of tall and short floral centerpieces and fun pops of coral throughout the decor. Emily told us that coral is one of her favorite colors, and it was also the color she was wearing when she met her husband-to-be! Even the up lighting around the ballroom featured a warm coral light, giving the entire room an intimate and summery glow. Following the first dance and heartfelt toasts from friends and family, the dance floor was open and the party really kicked off. The groom was even surprised by a special rendition of his favorite song, Happy by Pharrell — he was given a classic Pharrell hat to wear while he danced! At the end of the night guests took home delicious  chocolate chip cookies, brought in that morning especially for the wedding from one of Emily + Lou’s favorite bakeries in Philadelphia.

We could not have asked for a more gorgeous wedding day for this wonderful couple — special thanks to the entire team at the Ritz Carlton Boston Common for another spectacular event, and to Emily + Lou for letting us share this special day with you! Mazel Tov!

Summer has arrived, and we’re kicking the season off with a stunning and elegant Greek wedding at the Four Seasons Hotel Boston! Demetra and Michael kept their Boston wedding day classic, with colors of white, black, and gold throughout the event. Demetra’s stunning Vera Wang wedding gown was matched with classic black dresses that were custom-made by Allison Collection in NYC, and all the ladies carried white summer floral arrangements.

Michael spent the morning getting ready in the Four Seasons Hotel Boston, and we met up with him on top of the hotel’s elegant grand staircase where the couple had their first look. It was a gorgeous sunny day, and we took advantage of the Boston Public Garden right across the street for some outdoor photos with the bride and groom. We were soon joined by the rest of the bridal party for a few formals in the park. On the way back into the hotel we got an unexpected surprise — a quick photo with Ringo Starr! We were in the right place at the right time, as he pulled up in his car right in front of the bride and groom to give his congratulations.

The traditional Greek Orthodox wedding ceremony took place at the nearby St. John the Baptist Church, and included some beautiful Greek wedding traditions that we absolutely love photographing. Cocktail hour was held in the Four Season’s Aujourd’hui room while the finishing touches were put on the beautiful ballroom. The decor was a mix of classic white and elegant gold, with towering white floral centerpieces in bright gold vases matched with gold and white chiavari ballroom chairs. Even the classic 4-tiered white wedding cake was accented with shimmery gold stripes. Demetra + Michaels stunning wedding was the perfect compliment to the natural elegance and beauty of the Four Seasons Boston ballroom, they could not have picked a better location!

Guests enjoyed toasts, lots of traditional Greek dancing, food, and a fun and celebratory night with the happy bride and groom. We were so thrilled to have been a part of this wedding!! As always a big thank you to Philip Deschamps and the entire Four Seasons Hotel team for being so amazing to work with! Congratulations Demetra + Michael!!

Kate + Joe described their wedding day as a “black tie summer wedding on the water” — and it turned out to be absolutely picture perfect! They chose the Boston Harbor Hotel as their wedding venue, with the elegant Wharf Room for dinner and dancing, and lots of spots for harbor-side photos it was the perfect place for their formal summer wedding.

Kate and her bridesmaids started the morning at her family house in Wellesley, relaxing and getting dressed and ready for the big day. After the final touches of hair and makeup, Kate’s mom and sister helped her into her gorgeous strapless wedding gown and we headed off to the church. The traditional Catholic wedding ceremony took place at the nearby St. John’s Church in Wellesley, and finished with the happy newlyweds exiting the church to a sea of guests blowing bubbles! Kate and Joe greeted their guests in a traditional receiving line before their friends and family traveled to the Boston Harbor Hotel to begin the party. We stayed at the church with the bride, groom, and their wedding party for some great formal shots outside, as well as some traditional bride and groom car shots in their beautiful white 1937 Packard before making the trip back to Boston.

Before heading inside to the reception, we took advantage of the Boston Harbor Hotel’s beautiful harbor-side view and iconic Rotunda for some formal wedding photography with the bridal party right on the water. Afterward, we brought Kate and Joe inside the Wharf Room before guests came in for a sneak peek of their gorgeous elegant wedding reception! The decor was colorful, summery, and classic — with shades of blue, white, ivory, green, and yellow. White roses, orchids, and calla lilies were mixed with pops of bright purple and green in the stunning floral centerpieces from Lotus Designs, and soft candlelight on each table gave the room a warm and intimate glow. Each towering floral arrangement was displayed in a sleek crystal vase, and surrounded by smaller arrangements on all sides to really fill the tables with color.

The party kicked off with a traditional first dance, cake cutting, beautiful toasts from friends and family, and parent dances with the bride and groom. Once the dance floor was open, guests kicked off their heels and put on colorful flip flops to dance the night away! Before the evening came to a close, we took Kate and Joe back outside for some beautiful nighttime shots overlooking the harbor with the incredible moonlight and city lights behind them.

We had so much fun spending the day with this great couple, special thanks to The Wedding Beautiful, Inc. for a beautiful event, and the entire team at the Boston Harbor Hotel. Congratulations Kate + Joe!

We aren’t ready for summer to be over quite yet! We were so happy to be celebrating another beautiful wedding at the State Room Boston with Amanda + Greg. They chose classic colors of black, white, and cobalt blue for an elegant and colorful wedding day, and added a fun pop of purple with some gorgeous arrangements from Winston Flowers.

Amanda looked absolutely stunning in a lace Monique Lhullier wedding gown, accented perfectly by her bridesmaid’s dresses in a deep blue. All the ladies wore sparkly silver heels and carried summer arrangements of white, blue, and purple flowers tied with blue and white ribbons. Greg went with a classic black 3-piece suit, while his groomsmen accented their black jackets with blue vests and ties to match the bridal party. The ladies got ready at the nearby Marriot Long Wharf, so we took advantage of the perfect sunny day to get some bridal party shots out on Boston Harbor before heading to the State Room.

The wedding ceremony took place in the State Room’s Great Room, 33 stories high above downtown Boston. The room was set with classic dark ballroom chairs, and two stunning blue and purple arrangements from Winston Flowers stood on either side of the clean white altar. Following the “I do”s, we took the newlyweds out into downtown Boston to get some city wedding shots in the historic Quincy Market.

When we returned, the Great Room had been transformed into a beautiful summer wedding reception. Each white table had a pop of fun color, with a mix of high and low floral centerpieces in colors of bright purple, blue, and green. The unique square wedding cake was accented with blue ribbons on each tier, and covered in cobalt blue flowers and petals. Guests cheered as Amanda + Greg entered the Great Room for their first dance, and everyone enjoyed dinner, dancing, and toasts before the party really got going.

Once the sun set, the State Room was lit up with beautiful blue and purple up lights that filled the room with color, and the dance floor was open for guests to party all night! We had such a blast sharing this beautiful summer wedding day with Amanda + Greg, thank you both for being so fun and easy to work with!

This summer day could not have been more perfect for Katelyn + Sean’s classic Four Seasons Boston Wedding. The happy couple, who actually live in Virginia, knew that Boston was the place they wanted to have their gorgeous summer wedding — they first met at a convention in Boston, and Sean proposed at the very same hotel 3 years later! Instantly the couple knew that the Four Seasons Hotel Boston was the perfect venue for their classic wedding — beautiful, elegant, and right in the heart of the city they both love. Here is what the bride had to say about their wedding:

Boston is our favorite city, lots of Boston influence. We also love the color blue! We wanted the wedding to be beautiful and classic, and for everyone to have a good time. Living in Virginia and with all of our friends and family spread out all over the place it was important we pick a wedding location that everyone could get to. Boston was the perfect fit!

Katelyn + Sean wanted Boston to have a big influence in their wedding inspiration, as well as their favorite color — blue. The bridesmaids wore adorable strapless blue dresses and carried summer bouquets with touches of white and green. Katelyn + Sean brought along a copy of their wedding invitation to show us, which was matted on beautiful dark blue paper with an image of the iconic Boston Public Garden bridge printed on top. We made sure to get a picture of the happy newlyweds in front of this same bridge following their ceremony!

The couple had their traditional first look on the Four Seasons elegant staircase, and we moved right outside to the Boston Public Garden for formal pictures with the wedding party on a perfect summer day. It was a short walk to the nearby Arlington Street Church for the wedding ceremony, after which guests headed back to the Four Seasons Aujourd’hui Room for cocktails while we got some pictures at the church with the newlyweds!

The Four Seasons ballroom was beautiful — with light blue linens on each table, and classic silver chiavari ballroom chairs. The tables were topped with arrangements of bright blue summer flowers, with accents of white and purple in each. Elegant silver vases and tall candles gave the room a warm glow, and the classic four-tiered wedding cake was topped with soft violet hydrangeas. Eye 2 Eye kept the bride, groom, and all of their guests dancing, singing, and celebrating all night long at this wonderful classic Four Seasons Boston wedding.

As always a big thank to Philip Deschamps and his entire team for being so fantastic to work with, and congratulations to Katelyn + Sean!

We loved all the details of this beautiful summer wedding at the Fairmont Copley Plaza Boston! Christina + Sean chose their color inspiration of gold and pink, and everything — from the flowers to the dresses to linens — matched perfectly. With the event design of Elizabeth Sleeper from Table 6 Productions,  the bride and groom got the perfect wedding day they always dreamed of.

Before the early evening ceremony, we spent the afternoon getting ready with Christina + Sean at the Fairmont Copley Plaza. Christina wore a stunning strapless wedding gown accented with a silver headpiece. Her floral bouquet was a beautiful mix of light pink, dark pink, and white roses and her three bridesmaids wore soft pink dresses to match.

The bride and groom decided not to see each other before the wedding, so we headed to the Cathedral of the Holy Cross in downtown Boston for the ceremony. Christina + Sean exchanged their wedding rings and “I do”s during a traditional Catholic nuptial mass, and we decided to stick around the Cathedral following the ceremony to get some formal photographs with the newlyweds and their wedding party.

With a smaller wedding party of three bridesmaids and three groomsmen, we had lots of extra time to go to all of their favorite Boston locations around the city. After leaving the Cathedral of the Holy Cross, we headed to the front steps of the Boston Public Library. It was a perfect summer day, so we got some great shots right in the heart of Copley Square with the blue sky and Fairmont and Hancock Tower in the background.

While the bridal party headed back to the Fairmont Copley Plaza to start cocktails, we took Christina + Sean up to Beacon Hill and the famous Acorn Street (named the “most photographed street in the United States”) for a few photos of the newlyweds. Then it was back to Copley Square for some time in the secluded courtyard behind the historic Trinity Church, and finally back into the Fairmont Copley Plaza lobby! Even after all of these great Boston wedding pictures, the bride and groom still had plenty of time to enjoy their cocktail hour before the evening reception began.

We loved the signature drink displays accented with pink rock candy swizzle sticks!

The Oval Room at the Fairmont Copley Plaza was transformed into a gorgeous wedding reception for Christina + Sean. Soft pink uplights washed the walls with bright color, and cozy lounge furniture was placed around the dance floor. Each centerpiece featured golden branches with balls of bright pink flowers, over gold and pink textured linens. When the formalities of the evening were done and it was time to party, Christina changed into a super cute short white dress and kicked off the dancing with Sean and their guests.

Thank you to Elizabeth at Table 6 Productions, as well as Alice and the entire team of the Fairmont Copley Plaza for another spectacular wedding. Congratulations Christina and Sean!

We had so much fun capturing this beautiful wedding day with Jen and Greg — the bride looked beautiful, the weather could not have been better, and everyone was so happy to be together celebrating this amazing couple. The bride and groom chose the State Room Boston as their wedding venue, perched high above the heart of downtown Boston at 60 State Street with a spectacular view of the city from 33 stories up!

Wedding Photography | Person Killian | Boston

The happy couple and bridal party got ready for the day in the nearby Hilton Boston Downtown. Jen + Greg chose colors of gold, white, and soft blush as their wedding inspiration, and you could see it right away in Jen’s beautiful bouquet. She carried an arrangement of white calla lilies and soft pink roses, and her bridesmaids matched perfectly in summery pink dresses. The bride and groom had their traditional “first look” in one of the Hilton suites before heading out to the trolley.

The wedding ceremony took place in the State Room Boston’s Great Room, with beautiful black ballroom chairs, two gorgeous floral arrangements on either side of the altar, and an aisle lined with pink rose petals. The Great Room’s floor-to-ceiling windows provided the perfect backdrop as the happy couple said their “I do”s.

After the ceremony, guests enjoyed cocktails and hors d’oeuvres upstairs on the Mezzanine while the Great Room was transformed for the evening wedding reception. The tables were topped with shimmery champagne linens paired with towering white and pink floral centerpieces.

As the sun started to set, the view of the city skyline became even more spectacular outside. The newlyweds’ closest friends and family gave heartfelt toasts, while an impromptu fireworks show from the city below filled the sky with amazing fireworks! Jen told us that the exact same thing happened at her Bat Mitzvah years earlier, so the firework display was extra special for her.

After dinner, toasts, and parent dances, the dance floor was opened up for all the guests to enjoy — and they certainly did! We could tell that everyone was so happy to be enjoying this day with Jen and Greg, and the fun and energetic atmosphere lasted late into the night. A big thank you to the newlyweds for being so fun and easy to work with, and to all their friends and family for including us in this wonderful day. Congratulations Jen + Greg!

Sarah + John’s beautifully classic Four Seasons Hotel Boston wedding combined traditional Boston elegance with a touch of fun summer flair for a really special and unforgettable evening. With the design and floral expertise of Carol Silverston of The Original Touch and the immaculate coordination of the Four Seasons Boston’s Philip Deschamps, each detail was stunning, fun, and perfectly executed!

Sarah + John combined classic wedding colors of white, gold, and pearl with fun pops of navy throughout their design and decor. Sarah wore a beautiful asymmetrical wedding gown paired with navy blue  heels and a soft white bouquet.

We did the couple’s first look on the Four Seasons elegant grand staircase, followed by a few quick photographs of the smiling bride and groom inside the hotel. From there we headed across the street for some wedding formals in the Boston Public Garden. The weather was perfect for a summer wedding, and we had plenty of time to get pictures of the whole wedding party in the Garden as well as some romantic summer shots of Sarah + John alone prior to the ceremony.

The traditional Catholic wedding ceremony took place at the historic Cathedral of the Holy Cross in downtown Boston — one of our favorite Boston wedding ceremony venues. Following the vows, it was back to the Four Seasons  for cocktails in the ballroom foyer. The wedding reception in the ballroom was fresh, summery, and elegant, with bright white linens and beautiful pearl-colored ballroom chairs. The clear glass charger plates were lined with a touch of gold, and the floral centerpieces mixed classic white blossoms with pops of green, pink, and purple. Sarah + John had two wedding cakes — a classic and elegant tiered cake topped with white roses for the couple, and a fun golf-themed cake just for the groom. Overall it was a beautiful summer Four Seasons Hotel Boston wedding, and we loved being able to share it with the happy newlyweds and their family.

Special thanks to Carol Silverston and Philip Deschamps for always being so wonderful to work with! Congratulations Sarah + John!!

Erin and Hayes really took advantage of this beautiful summer season at their Fairmont Copley Plaza Wedding in late July. They incorporated lots of fresh summer flowers and soft summer colors into their classic and elegant ballroom wedding.

Erin’s beautiful summer bouquet was full of white roses and peonies, and accented with subtle hints of purple and green. Her bridesmaids wore dark navy chiffon dresses and carried stunning bouquets in shades of creme, purple, and blush. The bride and groom decided not to see each other before the wedding, so we headed straight to the gorgeous chapel at St. Cecilia’s once the ladies were ready for the traditional Catholic ceremony!

We made the quick trip from St. Cecilia’s to the Boston Public Garden following the ceremony for some sunny outdoor wedding photos with Erin, Hayes, and their wedding party. The summer weather could not have been more perfect for the outdoor formals! The evening reception took place in the Fairmont Copley Plaza’s Oval Room — the gold and champagne colored walls, curtains, and crystal chandelier were matched perfectly by simple textured white linens and beautiful summer floral centerpieces. The newlyweds chose a mix of tall arrangements in elegant clear vases and smaller mixes of the same flowers. The summer flowers were white, pink, and soft blush, and the tables were paired with gold chiavari ballroom chairs matched with white cushions.

After the romantic first dance and toasts from friends and family, Erin and Hayes cut their gorgeous four-tiered white wedding cake — decorated with cascading creme-colored roses and displayed on a bright gold stand, surrounded by soft blush summer rose petals.

We could not have asked for a more beautiful summer wedding, with a perfect mix of classic elegance, traditional details, and fun summer colors. As always a big thank you to Alice Fay and her entire team at the Fairmont Copley Plaza for always being so lovely to work with! Cheers to another beautiful event, and congratulations Erin + Hayes!

We love working with couples with a lot of personality — and Danielle + Chris fit the bill perfectly! Their beautiful Hyatt Regency Boston wedding was classic and beautiful, with lots of fun details to show off their bright and colorful personalities. Above everything else, the couple wanted their guests to have a fun night — and thanks to the fabulous planners at lolagraceEVENTS, everyone certainly did!

Danielle’s strapless white wedding gown was accented with a simple black belt for a fun and classic look, and paired with a bright bouquet of romantic red roses — the same flowers that would be used later at their reception. We loved her reaction when she opened her wedding day gift from her groom, two tickets to Justin Timberlake! Meanwhile, Chris and his groomsmen had a blast getting ready for the day, and even showed off some of their putting skills before getting on their suits and ties.

The bride and groom said their “I do”s at the beautiful chapel of St. Anthony’s in Revere, Ma, before heading back to the Hyatt Regency Boston for the evening reception. We loved the romantic feeling of the decor, Danielle + Chris had chosen black, white, and crimson as their inspiration colors and it really made everything pop. Their escort cards were printed with white calligraphy on black card stock, and there were lots of fun signs throughout the event with a matching swirly font. You really got a sense of this couple’s fun-loving nature just by looking at their wedding! Here’s what their event planner Rachael from lolagraceEVENTS had to say about their design and inspiration:

Danielle + Chris are a very charismatic, kind + FUN couple! They wanted their wedding to be unlike anything that anyone had experienced before. Comprising an All-Star vendor team was vital in creating the uniquely energetic + creative vibe that she wanted her guests to experience while at their wedding. The color palette was selected in advance of anything else… Danielle was set on a black + white wedding while Chris’ only request was to incorporate a splash of crimson… so Danielle was a very gracious bride and allowed her groom his one request! But given Danielle’s thoughtful nature she treated Chris with a couple of surprises throughout the evening: his very own specialty cocktail that was “crimson” colored + custom rolled cigars for each guest from The Boston Cigar Factory (paired with their very own wine that they made at The Boston Winery)! Over 2000 red roses were used to adorn the guest tables… giving off a very classic look with a creative spin on the red rose! Each piece of paper was a custom design… from the save the dates to the invitations to the signage throughout the event… their was a consistent vibe communicated to their guests and that was to HAVE FUN!  If I were to use three words to describe the style of Danielle + Chris’ wedding I would easily say: Modern. Romantic. FUN.

Congratulations to Danielle + Chris on a perfect wedding day, and special thanks to Rachael and lolagraceEVENTS for another beautiful evening!

When Rafanelli Events called Person + Killian Photography and asked if we were available to photograph an intimate wedding in Boston, we jumped at the opportunity. The bride and groom were international, so they had one very special request for their wedding day — they wanted a real traditional American wedding!

Both George and Coral live in Beijing, China so, Jill met the bride for the first time on her wedding day. When Coral arrived at the Boston Harbor Hotel, the beautiful bride and her adorable bridesmaids explained to Jill  how they envisioned the wedding, which was based on weddings scenes they had seen in American movies. For them it was very important that three American wedding traditions be included: the first dance, cake cutting and tossing the bouquet.

The beautiful ceremony was in the Boston Harbor Hotel’s Fosters Pavilion and the reception was a short walk to the Dolce Vita Ristorante in Boston’s historic North End.

There was one aspect of this very traditional American wedding that was a little unique — Coral went outside and did her bouquet toss in the middle of the street!

A big thank you to the amazing team at Rafanelli Events for thinking of Person + Killian Photography for this intimate affair!
