When the team at Janie Haas Events asked us to be the photographers for Abigail’s upcoming Bat Mitzvah at The Revere Hotel’s Space 57, we knew it would be fun, modern and whimsical. When the day came for the celebration, we walked into a space transformed into a  Bat Mitzvah In Wonderland. We asked planner Stephanie Stark to describe the inspiration behind the event and here is what she had to say:

“… I keep a “Mitzvah Inspiration” folder in my office and collect ideas that I tuck away for future reference. I had been holding onto this idea of a Wonderland theme event for a couple of years and waited to find the right child for this theme. Then along came Abigail. Her mother, Patricia, described her as “all girl, 100% estrogen” who wanted a fun, creative and unique theme for her Bat Mitzvah. I pitched some of the ideas I had for a Wonderland theme to Abigail and her mother- hanging chairs from the ceiling, mad hatter tea party with vintage china, a cool black and white patterned dance floor, oversized everything .. and they both LOVED the idea. I learned, after blindly pitching the idea, that Abigail’s mother used to read the book written by Lewis Carroll to Abigail as a child and that they both loved the eccentricity and whimsy of the novel. It was the perfect opportunity for us all to let our creative juices flow. Patricia brought many ideas to the table herself- like the use of many of the novel’s quotes throughout the décor. It was important to her that there be a message behind everything and not just flashy décor. With my amazing designer at Art of the Event, Elizabeth Holden, my inspired lighting designer, Suzanne Lowell and many other participants and visionaries, the event you see before came to life with adventure and excitement around every corner.”

Mazel Tov to Abigail and her family and a thank you to the amazing team at Janie Haas Events for thinking of us to capture this beautiful celebration!

The Four Seasons is one of the most stunning venues in Boston, and earlier this month we photographed the wedding of Liz and Matias there. The couple described their wedding as a, “traditional American wedding with some foreign twists…Combining USA with Argentina.” Elizabeth and Matias met during a rugby game in Argentina where Matias is from and they just recently moved back to Boston. For them, the Four Seasons was the perfect location to celebrate their wedding day with friends and family.

After their first look atop the grand staircase at the Four Seasons the wedding party headed across the street to the Boston Public Garden for formal photographs. The traditional Catholic ceremony was held at St. Julia Church in Weston where the bride and her family are from. Following their ceremony, guests headed back to the Four Seasons for the cocktail hour and reception.

The reception took place in the ballroom where Winston Flowers and SBL Lighting created a modern look with soft lighting and a mixture of modern and classic centerpieces atop both long rectangular tables and rounds.  Elizabeth and Matias joined their guests and shared their first dance after they were introduced as “Mr. & Mrs. Lucero” for the first time. They celebrated with their friends and family as the night continued and danced to a mix of American and Argentinian music.

Congratulations again to Elizabeth and Matias and thank you to the team at the Four Seasons for always being so wonderful to work with!

The Four Seasons Hotel Boston Wedding of Liz and Matias photographed by Person + Killian Photography.

We were so lucky to get to spend the day with Frank, Michelle and their beautiful family last weekend for their spring wedding at the Revere Hotel right in downtown Boston. Michelle and Frank had the honor of being the very first wedding to take place in the Revere Hotel’s Space 57!

We spent the afternoon with the couple getting ready at their brownstone home in Boston’s South End. The roof deck above their house was a perfect place for some photos of the couple, with a breathtaking view of Boston as the background!

We walked to a nearby park for formal wedding pictures with Michelle, Frank, and their wedding party — which included their four wonderful children — and the warm, sunny spring weather held out all afternoon.

Before heading off to the ceremony, Michelle, Frank, and the kids wanted to stop for a few minutes in the street’s crosswalk for some classic “Abby Road” shots! We snapped a few more pictures outside the brownstone with the family before heading into The Revere Hotel for the wedding.

The ceremony took place on the upper level of Space 57, the hotel’s new function and event venue. The decor was clean and elegant, with clear ghost chairs for guests and large white branch arrangements on either side of the altar.

After the ceremony, guests were moved into the outer foyer for cocktails while Space 57 was transformed for the reception. MAX Ultimate Food not only provided all of the catering, but planned the entire event from the ground up. Guests enjoyed beautiful passed hors d’oeuvres like mini spring rolls, and push-up caprese salads.

The normally black Space 57 was transformed into a stunning reception space, with ghost ballroom chairs and clear table tops. Towering floral centerpieces from Carlos Colon of Columbine Floral stood out in beautiful white vases. A textured lighting pattern from Suzanne B. Lowell filled the entire space, with towers of purple uplighting surrounding the walls. The team at MAX Ultimate even brought in a custom chandelier to hang over the black dance floor.

After an evening of dancing to the sounds of Beantown and celebrating this wonderful couple, trays of mini desserts were served as late night snacks. We adored working with this couple, and getting the chance to meet all of their friends and family. Congratulations Michelle and Frank, thank you for letting us be a part of your fun and glamorous wedding day!

Christie & Ross had a classically beautiful Boston Wedding at the Four Seasons. The day was filled with tradition, elegance, laughter and love! The bride wore a stunning Oscar de la Renta wedding gown paired with white Christian Louboutin heels, while the groom looked dapper in his black tux and bow- tie.

The couple hired some pretty fabulous vendors! Our dear friends at SD Events planned the day. The couple flew in a rockin’ band from Atlanta (Atlanta Showstoppers) and had a exceptional video team Elysium Productions from LA who documented the entire day. The event lighting was created by the talented work of Suzanne B Lowell and the room was filled with the beautiful arrangements from Michael O’Brien of Winston Flowers.

Below are just a handful of our favorite images from this beautiful affair. A big thanks to SD Events for introducing us to this fantastic couple and heartfelt congratulations to Christie and Ross! Thank you for trusting Person + Killian Photography to document this joyous day!
