Margot and Kevin’s Boston Public Library wedding was the perfect reflection of what they wanted their wedding day to be. They wanted fun and easy-going vibes, and they wanted to really enjoy the day with friends and family. Above all, they wanted a gorgeous and memorable venue to celebrate in!

We asked Margot why they chose the Boston Public Library for their wedding, and here’s what she had to say:

We fell in love with the Boston Public Library as a venue because it is so beautiful and romantic. Given the space is so beautiful as-is, we leaned toward simple clean whites and greens to accompany the green details throughout the Courtyard and Bates Hall. The wedding was black tie and we wanted to keep things elegant!

The bride and groom took full advantage of the gorgeous spaces both inside and outside the Boston Public Library. After getting ready at the Fairmont Copley Plaza, we headed outside to Copley Square for the first look and formal photographs with the wedding party. Family joined in for photos inside the library prior to the ceremony. The ceremony was held outside in the always gorgeous courtyard as the sun set.

Guests enjoyed the warm summer evening for cocktails in the courtyard and the adjoining Cafe, before moving inside to Bates Hall for dinner. The final stop of the night was the Abbey Room for cake cutting and dancing surrounded by friends, family, and loved ones. A joyful and memorable night in a truly unforgettable venue — Margot and Kevin’s Boston Public Library wedding was everything they dreamed it would be!

A big thank you to Margot and Kevin for being such a joy to work with and to the teams at the Fairmont and The Catered Affair at the Boston Public Library for helping create the perfect day!

While Meaghan and Harry were saying their royal wedding “I do”s in England, we were celebrating the beautiful wedding of Laura and Mike right here in Boston. This wedding was extra special for us to be a part of, because Laura credits our very own Person + Killian blog for helping her find inspiration, ideas, and vendors for her own celebration. The couple described their vision for the wedding as “modern and romantic” with “lots of metallic colors” along with white, green, and pink flowers. The bride and groom are getting ready to start a new chapter of their lives in Los Angeles next month, so this Boston Public Library wedding was their “last big hurrah” in Boston before making the move!

The day started at the Fairmont Copley Plaza, with a champagne toast for the ladies and the bride and groom’s first look in the Fairmont lobby. We stayed at the Fairmont for some formal photos with the wedding party before making the quick walk across Copley Square to the Boston Public Library. Laura and Mike didn’t even mind the rainy day, with so many gorgeous spaces inside the Fairmont Copley Plaza and the Boston Public Library we could get some beautiful formal photos without getting wet. Once inside the BPL, we got photos with the entire wedding party on the grand staircase, on the balcony, and outside the Abbey Room. The mix of classic colors from the bride’s white gown, the bridesmaid’s black dresses and the pop of pink and white flowers was just beautiful inside the Library.

The wedding ceremony was held in the Boston Public Library’s Courtyard Restaurant, which featured four towering floral arrangements of white, pink, and green. Following the “I do”s, guests moved to the Map Room Cafe for cocktails while we took the newlyweds around the Boston Public Library for some evening portraits of just the two of them. The Guastavino Room was transformed with a very modern flare for the evening celebration. Metallic silver linens, mirror-top tables, gorgeous white chairs, and classic green, white, and pink floral arrangements filled this already beautiful space — the mix of modern decor with the classic old books and exposed brick of the Guastavino Room was just gorgeous.

We were so happy to be a part of this wedding day — Laura and Mike could not have been sweeter and we wish them all the best in their next step on the West Coast! Special thanks to Alice Fay and the team at the Fairmont for giving us beautiful spaces for formal photos outside of the rain, and to Faith and The Catered Affair team at the Boston Public Library.

A beautiful summer day, a classic Boston wedding venue, and a wonderful fun-loving couple — what more could we ask for! This Boston Public Library wedding began in Boston’s Back Bay neighborhood, where bride Alexandra and her bridesmaids got ready for the day at her parent’s home. The ladies enjoyed a champagne toast and a few photos on the rooftop while groom Daniel and his groomsmen spent the morning a the nearby Westin Copley. One of the things we love about the Back Bay is how close by everything is — once Alexandra and Daniel were dressed and ready, it was a short walk to the Boston Public Gardens for the couple’s first look.

After a few formal photos with just the bride and groom, we were joined by the entire wedding party for some group and family photos. It was a perfect summer day in Boston, and everyone enjoyed being out in the sunshine. Before too long it was time for the ceremony, which took place at the Harvard Memorial Church. This was a special place for both Alexandra and Daniel as this is where they both went to school! After the “I do”s it was back to Back Bay and the Boston Public Library to start the celebration.

The Boston Public Library sits in the heart of Copley Square and features a gorgeous outdoor courtyard, classic old Boston architecture, and a series of beautiful event spaces. It is one of our favorite Boston wedding venues and was the perfect spot for this bride and groom to celebrate their classic and traditional wedding day. The evening started outside in the courtyard for cocktails. While guests mixed and mingled around the stunning central fountain, we took Alexandra and Daniel through the halls of the library for some formal photos. Everyone then moved into Bates Hall for dinner and dancing.

Bates Hall is the centerpiece of the Boston Public Library — with the high, arched ceilings and iconic green reading lights on each table, it has become a Boston wedding classic. The bride and groom added fresh summer flowers to each table and soft purple uplights to accentuate the space, and now it was time to party! The night was full of food, drinks, toasts, and lots of laughter as everyone came together to celebrate this wonderful couple.

Thank you to Alexandra and Daniel for being so fun and easy to work with, we could not have been happier to join you on your wedding day!

Having spoke their very first words in the library there could be no better place than the elegance of the Boston Public Library for Kailey and Nick to say “I do.” Kailey, who gushed that it reminded her of travels abroad to France and Switzerland and Nick, a proclaimed history buff and lover of literature (Hemingway and Cormack McCarthy to be specific) were enchanted by it’s old European charm.

Graceful touches of white, blush, gold and whimsical cascading florals served as inspiration for Kailey and Nick’s romantic and polished day of celebration. A heartwarming exchanging of vows took place inside the Boston Public Library’s picturesque courtyard and friends and family enjoyed an evening of dancing and the playful tablescape of delightfully delectable sweets and treats by The Catered Affair.

Thank you to Kailey and Nick for choosing Person + Killian Photography to document your incredible day. We hope your lives are filled with love and happiness as you write the rest of your story.

With its half-mile sweeping lawn and architecturally impressive Great House, it’s easy to see why Maria + Alex chose to have their wedding at the Crane Estate, in Ipswich, MA. We love this gorgeous venue and were more than happy to drive out to Castle Hill once again to capture this wonderful celebration.

We had spent the morning with Maria + Alex as they prepared for the day. The couple chose not to see each other before the ceremony, making for a sweet moment when they finally did. In a beautiful, sweeping lace gown by Hayley Paige, Maria was stunning, and the ceremony that followed was moving and sweet. The outdoor ceremony was set up on the Crane Estate’s half-mile manicured lawn, with white garden chairs and beautiful white and green floral arrangement over looking the sea.

Following the “I do”s and big kiss, the wedding party and family members headed to the “casino” for formal photographs. These little Italian-style villas were a wonderful setting for the portraits. Following cocktail hour, the wedding guests were moved into the tent, beautifully designed by The Catered Affair with gorgeous florals from Consider the Lilies!

We love that Maria changed into a more party-friendly dress to kick off the dancing following dinner. We were so happy to be able to capture this important day for Maria + Alex, congratulations to the happy couple!

We are always excited and honored when our weddings are featured in print. The real wedding of Lindsay “Lu” and Greg at the Boston Public Library is featured in the latest New England issue of The Knot on stands now!

From The Knot: How They Met: At Tulane University Wedding Style: Mirrored elements, oversize blooms and a glam color scheme of white, silver and pink created a luxe affair that walked the line between modern and traditional.

“Lu carried a traditional bridal bouquet of white peonies, lisianthus and light pink roses while the bridesmaids held fluffy bunches of pink peonies with accents of dusty miller. When the couple learned that Lu’s grandmother likely wouldn’t be able to make it to New York (where they live) for their wedding, they decided to get married in Boston, Lu’s hometown. ‘When the Boston Public Library popped up as a potential venue, we knew it was where we would get married,’ Lu says.”

We always love photographing at the Boston Public Library and were back there Memorial Day weekend for the wedding of Katie and Griffin. The Fairmont Copley Plaza was the perfect locale for Katie and her bridesmaids to get ready for the day in their suite while Griffin and the groomsmen enjoyed some downtime at the Oak Bar.

Katie and Griffin loved everything about the location as is and didn’t want to do too much to take away from that. They chose to keep the decor classic with shades of white, soft yellow and greens that went perfectly with the aesthetic of the library.

The courtyard provided the perferct backdrop for the ceremony that was officiated by a close family friend. Before the nuptials, the wedding party “kicked things off” by tossing coins into the fountain for good luck. At the end of the ceremony, the newlyweds joined in and tossed coins in the fountain before heading back down the aisle to celebrate. For dinner, guests were invited up the grand staircase into Bates Hall followed by dancing with the music of the Kahootz band in the Abbey Room.

Thank you to Erin and Alyssa and their team at The Catered Affair and best wishes to Katie and Griffin! We had a wonderful time capturing such a beautiful celebration for a great group of people.

Beth and Tyler chose the historic and beautiful Boston Public Library for their wedding day. The Boston based couple chose the library because they wanted a, “Jane Austen library feel” for their wedding, and they couldn’t have picked a better place. The ornate spaces in the library including the courtyard, grand staircase and Guastavino Room, coupled with the history and Copley Square location provided the perfect setting for their day.

The bride got ready at their nearby home while the groom was getting ready at the Westin Hotel, conveniently located right across the street from the library. Beth and her bridesmaids enjoyed a trolley ride to the library and we made a couple of stops along the way for photos including the stunning Trinity Church in the heart of Copley Square before heading across the street to the library.

Beth and Tyler exchanged their vows in the picturesque Courtyard in front of the fountain, accented with purple and white floral arrangements.  Following the ceremony, guests remained in the Courtyard and enjoyed cocktails while we spent some time with the couple and their wedding party taking formal photographs. Sunset provided a stunning backdrop for a few pictures of the newlyweds on the steps of the library before they headed back inside to join their guests.

For the reception, guests moved into the Gustavino Room. In keeping with their theme, each table included one of the Beth and Tyler’s favorite books for their guests to sign their well wishes. Beth, Tyler and their family and friends enjoyed dinner and danced for the rest of the evening with music by C-Zone Entertainment. Congratulations Beth and Tyler and thank you for having us there to capture your beautiful day and to The Catered Affair at the BPL team for always being so fantastic to work with!

We were thrilled to have been asked by Peterson Party Center to photograph the decor for the 11th annual Party In the Park yesterday. Plus it’s always a pleasure to photograph the beautiful work of our industry friends at, The Catered Affair, Winston Flowers and Table Toppers of Newton!

“This years event took place at the Pinebank Promontory at Jamaica Pond, to support the restoration and maintenance of the Emerald Necklace park system. The genius of Frederick Law Olmsted, who designed more than 1,100 acres of meadows, woodlands and paths, can be enjoyed by all more than 100 years after the completion of his work, thanks to the stewardship of the Emerald Necklace Conservancy in collaboration with its public partners

The Party in the Park is one of the conservancy’s surest signs of spring and one of the most anticipated social events in Boston. To date, the luncheon has generated a $3 million endowment fund for the parks.

Every May, just as spring declares itself in Boston, the luncheon draws hundreds of parks champions to gather for an elegant lunch served in a beautiful tent in one of the Necklace parks. Known as the “hat lunch” because so many guests complement their spring wardrobes with flowers, feathers and fascinators, the party is planned over the course of a year by an all-volunteer committee to ensure a memorable afternoon.” – Emerald Necklace

Boston Event Photography – Party In the Park 2014 with Peterson Party Center & The Catered Affair by Person + Killian Photography

We loved all the details of this beautiful tented summer wedding! The happy couple decided to have a wedding at home, surrounded by their closest friends and family. The entire event was planned and catered by the talented team at The Catered Affair and tented by Peterson Party Center – including a stunning ceremony tent, a cocktail tent, and a reception tent so exquisite it could have been a ballroom! We took advantage of the perfect summer weather and got some poolside photos with the bride, groom, and their family before the day’s events began.

The afternoon ceremony was held in a pale yellow and white tent on the property. The four open walls of the tent were draped with yellow linen, and the white ballroom chairs had soft yellow cushions to match. The aisle was lined with six towering custom made topiaries in sleek silver vases, and the front altar featured three large white panels with beautiful chains of soft yellow roses. A string quartet provided elegant background music for the romantic “I do”s.

Cocktail hour was set up in a round, open-sided tent in the backyard, and extended onto their beautiful stone patio. High and low cocktail tables were decorated with fun yellow and grey patterned linens, and topped with white and green floral arrangements. A fabulous raw bar was provided by The Catered Affair team, with large ice displays of shrimp and oysters for guests to enjoy before dinner.

The first thing you could see before entering the evening’s reception tent built over the tennis court was a stunning entrance way with greenery from top to bottom, designed by Marc Hall.  Once inside, the entrance space was lined with two long white tables displaying the escort cards and topped with beautiful arrangements of green ferns and white flowers. Two long mirrors and a stunning crystal chandelier made you forget you were in a tent altogether!

The reception tent itself was exquisite – the white fabric walls and ceilings were covered in soft pink and fuchsia lighting, and a custom white monogram was projected onto the dance floor surrounded by purple light. Patterned yellow linens were mixed with modern mirror-top tables, and paired with beautiful white ballroom chairs detailed with a textured back. A few large wing-back chairs and comfy white loveseats were interspersed throughout the tent, for a fun and eclectic atmosphere. The floral centerpieces featured soft white peonies with pops of bright yellow, large green ferns, and cascading white orchids. The tall arrangements were surrounded by smaller groups of white and yellow flowers, to really fill the table with color. The ceiling of the tent was hung with gorgeous crystal chandeliers, which provided a warm and glowing atmosphere for the night’s party.

Following the reception, the celebration moved back into the ceremony tent — which had been transformed into a fun and colorful after-party. The walls of yellow linen were replaced with a clear lining, and beautiful round chandeliers were hung over lounge area for guests to relax and enjoy the night. The tent popped with bright purple textured lighting and deep pink floral arrangements.

Everyone had a fantastic evening celebrating this day with the new bride and groom, and the newlyweds could not have been happier to be surrounded by all their friends, family, and loved ones for their one-of-a-kind summer wedding! Special thanks to the fantastic team at The Catered Affair for planning such a beautiful event. Congratulations to the happy couple!

Last weekend we had the pleasure of photographing the wedding of Tamara and Jacob at the Boston Public Library. After getting ready at the nearby Lenox Hotel, we made the short walk across the street to the BPL. Before heading inside, we took a few minutes to take some pictures outside the library with the bride, groom and their wedding party.

With some time before the ceremony, we had the opportunity to take advantage of the beautiful location with some more photos on the grand staircase and in the garden courtyard. From there, the couple signed the Ketubah alongside close family and friends in the Library’s Bates Hall, before moving outside into the courtyard for the ceremony.

After cocktail hour in the courtyard guests headed inside to the reception, held in the Popular Reading Room. Tamara and Jacob took the theme of the library and ran with it, even using individualized “date due” library cards to print their guests’ seating and table numbers. The bright orange and red colors of the table centerpieces (which were matched by the bright colors of the books on the walls) contrasted beautifully with the dark blue table linens, making for a warm and elegant reception space.

After the first dance, heartfelt toasts from the wedding party, and a traditional Hora, the celebration was underway! The dance floor was packed all night, and everyone was happy to celebrate this beautiful day with an amazing couple. Congratulations Tamara and Jacob!
