Christine and Joe’s winter wedding in downtown Boston gave us all the best that a wedding in Copley Square has to offer. From the Lenox Hotel to the Boston Public Library to the rooftops overlooking the Back Bay, we got to see it all!

The day started with Christine at her family home in Winchester and Joe getting ready at the Lenox Hotel. The ladies enjoyed a beautiful spread of traditional Armenian sweet treats while everyone had their hair and makeup done. At the same time, the guys were climbing to the rooftop of the Lenox Hotel for some photos high above Copley Square.

The bride and groom, wedding party, and their intimate group of invited guests met at the bride’s family church in Winchester. Christine and Joe said their “I do”s in a traditional Catholic Mass, before heading to Boston for the reception.

Following the ceremony, we headed to Copley Square for some gorgeous winter wedding photos outside of the Boston Public Library with the wedding party. We spent time both outside and inside the Boston Public Library with the couple. From there, we spent a few more minutes with the couple on the Lenox rooftop before heading inside to get the reception started. A stunning flower wall and classic white details in the Lenox’s Dome Room made this intimate winter wedding reception truly spectacular.

A special thank you to Christine and Joe, and to Taylor and her entire team at the Lenox Hotel for an unforgettable celebration!

Elana and Pete met while working for the Boston Red Sox. The couple worked together and were friends for many years before they started dating. Elana knew it couldn’t be better professionally than to see the team win the World Series at Fenway Park back in 2013 and left to pursue her teaching career. Although she misses working with the team, she couldn’t imagine life without Pete.

When Pete and Elana chose the Seaport Hotel Boston for their winter wedding, they were told throughout their planning that they were crazy to plan a wedding in February (the snowiest month of the year). The couple knew they made the right decision and made many preparations in case it was snowing or below freezing so their guests would be comfortable. So, it was a very welcomed surprise when the wedding day came and the temperature was in the 60’s! With the warm sun and spring like breeze, we were able to spend the afternoon outside for all of the photos with the family and wedding party.

From the bride: The Seaport was out perfect venue. We loved working with Melissa  who made sure that we had everything we needed (including making sure to have the Fenway inspired late night snacks). We loved being able to exchange our own vows before doing the traditional vows. It was important to us to have a ceremony and a wedding that really felt like it reflected us. We wanted it to be both personal and fun and are so happy it turned out that way!

A big congratulations to Elana and Pete and thank you to Melissa and the team at the Seaport Hotel Boston for being so great to work with!

Laura and Mike wanted to capture a winter wonderland for their January wedding at the Fairmont Copley Plaza. Little did they know they would have an actual snow filled day from start to finish. Because this was a destination wedding for the couple who live in DC, almost all of their guests were already staying in the hotel. This meant everyone could enjoy watching the snow from the comfort of the beautiful hotel as it fell in Copley Square. We were beyond thrilled when Laura asked us to take her and Mike outside for some photos of the two of them. We even headed back out with the wedding party who were all great sports so that we could capture some fun shots with the group and it was well worth it!

Laura and Mike chose to incorporate the gold throughout the venue and mix in blush tones for their color pallet. In addition, everything including the flowers, styles, food, venue was inspired by Laura’s love of France. The traditional Jewish ceremony took place in the Oval Room under a gorgeous chuppah designed by Lotus Floral Events and lit perfectly by Suzanne B. Lowell and her team at Suzanne B. Lowell Lighting Design.

Following the ceremony, guests continued the celebration into the night in the ballroom. Planner and coordinator Janie Haas and her team at  Janie Haas Events created the perfect look for Laura and Mike.  From Janie: “Instead of using whites and silvers on the round tables, we opted to use a heavy gorgeous silvery green/gray embroidered fabric on the round tables which were accented with creamy flowers with high white branches. While the fast falling snow outside cooperated with the look that we were trying to achieve inside, our goal was to bring the feeling of romance and dreaminess into the ballroom. Suzanne’s lighting was magical as it lit crystals in both the centerpieces and the stage.”

Congratulations Laura and Mike. We are absolutely thrilled to have had the chance to start off 2017 with such a fantastic group! A big thank you to Alice Fay and her team at the Fairmont Copley Plaza and to Janie, Maria and the team at Janie Haas Events!

Max and Tarik’s winter wedding at the Artists for Humanity Epicenter was modern with an artistic twist! Located in the heart of South Boston, Artists for Humanity is a non-profit organization founded on providing children with an artistic outlet and creative entrepreneurship. The venue is perfect for any couple seeking a non-traditional flair!

After some finishing touches at The Langham Boston Max and her shimmering bridesmaids stopped in the Public Garden for outdoor formals (you can not go wrong with a 60 degree December day in New England!). We also captured some photographs of Tarik and his groomsmen in front of quintessential Boston brownstones near their South End home.

Max and Tarik’s heartfelt and joyous ceremony took place in front of the venues floor to ceiling glass garage door. It was officiated by a family friend and beautifully incorporated some of Tarik’s Turkish heritage through the traditional ribbon cutting ring ceremony.

Simplistically beautiful design included string lights and striking white backdrops with eye-catching splashes of reds, pinks, blues, and periwinkles. Sticking with their venue, Max and Tarik creatively wove art into their special day. Guests were provided with bright markers, paints, blank canvases, and a polaroid camera as they were invited to “make art and have fun” celebrating the newlyweds.

Friends and family danced the night away to live entertainment that included an incredible saxophone performance of “Uptown Funk” by the beautiful bride herself!

A special recognition to Gourmet Caterers for their flawless catering and event coordination. Our sincerest congratulations and appreciation to Max and Tarik –we are truly honored to have been a part of such a fun and joyous day!

Earlier this month we had the pleasure of photographing Sarah and Jake’s winter wedding in Boston. We started the day with the couple getting ready at the Intercontinental Hotel. Sarah got ready with her bridesmaids and family before her first look with Jake. It was a beautiful clear day in the city, and we were able to take formal photos outside, on Boston’s historic waterfront, just steps outside the Intercontinental.

The couple’s traditional catholic ceremony was at the Sacred Heart Church. The church was transformed, adorned in gorgeous ivory and green flowers from Madison Floral, and the sunlight shining through the stained glass windows made it that much more special. After the ceremony, the couple took a classic Boston trolly over to The State Room Boston where they met their guests and were introduced as “Mr. & Mrs. Clapton” for the first time.

The State Room is absolutely stunning at night, with unmatched views of the Boston harbor and city lights. Sarah and Jake chose to have their reception in the Great Room, which has the most spectacular view of Boston’s skyline through their panoramic glass windows. Their guests experienced the beautiful views and watched as Sarah and Jake shared their first dance. Everyone enjoyed toasts, cake and music from the Eturnity Band as they celebrated into the night.

Thank you to the entire team at The State Room Boston, and congratulations Sarah and Jake!

Alyssa and Ryan chose the Mandarin Oriental Hotel Boston to celebrate their wedding day this January. We started off the afternoon with Alyssa and her bridesmaids who got ready at the hotel while Ryan and his groomsmen walked over to The Art of Shaving on Newbury Street for old fashioned shaves. The bride and groom opted for their first look on the grand staircase. A little cold was not going to stop the couple from heading over to the Commonwealth Avenue Mall for a few photographs before meeting up with the wedding party for formal photos around the hotel. We love that the Mandarin has so many great locations for photos and were able to utilize several of these spaces with the couple prior to their ceremony.

Before walking down the isle, the couple signed the Ketubah alongside immediate family and wedding party. Following the traditional Jewish ceremony that took place in the ballroom, the newlyweds and their guests enjoyed cocktail hour while the room was transformed. Alyssa and Ryan wanted their wedding to reflect the look and style of the venue with a wintery feel. Navy, silver, gold and ivory colors were used throughout the various decor along with candle light and white centerpieces.

Before the couple could even be introduced, Beantown had all of the guests up on their feet dancing. Following the first dance, hora and toasts, the band got everyone back up dancing for the rest of the evening celebration. A big congratulations to Alyssa and Ryan and thank you for being so much fun to work with on your beautiful wedding day and to the amazing team at the Mandarin for always being so fantastic to work with!

The Seaport Hotel Boston wedding of Lisa and Mike was the perfect way to start off the 2015 wedding season. We began the day with the couple while they got ready at the Seaport Hotel. We love that the bride and groom wanted to go outside for their first look on the World Trade Center bridge overlooking the Boston skyline. Lisa was joined by her bridesmaids and Mike with the groomsmen for wedding party photographs. As soon as the sun set and the lights came on we were able to spend a few more minutes with the couple before heading to the ceremony.

Their ceremony took place in the Cityside Ballroom, which was transformed for the occasion with tall pillar candles and lush white and pink floral arrangements by Dana Markos.  With stunning views of the Boston Harbor and the lively seaport district at night for everyone to enjoy, the Harborside Ballroom was the perfect place for the evening reception. Blue uplighting paired with the silver linens from Rentals Unlimited and candlelight lit up the room with a winter wonderland feel as the snow fell outside.  Following their first dance, dinner and toasts, the lively World Premier Band  got everyone on their feet dancing for the rest of the evening celebration.

It was such a pleasure to work with such a fantastic couple – and we love that they were willing to spend time outside for photographs! Thank you to the entire team at the Seaport Hotel Boston and Seaport World Trade Center. Congratulations Lisa + Mike!

We love winter weddings, and Ali + Jimmy’s Boston Harbor Hotel wedding this January was a great way to continue this season and kick off the new year!

All the days events took place at the Boston Harbor Hotel — starting with the beautiful ceremony in the Wharf Room. Candles lined the aisle, the chandelier’s reflection in the window made the room soft and romantic and the end of the aisle was adorned with beautiful floral arrangements by Winston Flowers.

Following the ceremony, Ali, Jimmy and their wedding party were up for heading outside in the January night to get some pictures on Rowes Wharf, followed by some pictures with the newlyweds throughout the beautiful property. The various lights from the trees and venue made for a great background.

Ali’s family owns the Gingerbread Construction Co., so lots of fun personal details were incorporated throughout the night. Tables were named for different flavors of muffins (with the head table being Gingerbread Muffin — Ali’s favorite!), and guests got delicious muffins as take-home favors at the end of the night! The reception space was beautifully decorated with alternating grey and floral-detailed maroon linens, topped with gorgeous green, red, and maroon floral arrangements. Even Ali and Jimmy’s wedding cake was personalized — it was an exact replica of the cake Ali’s parents had at their wedding.

We loved spending this evening with such a great couple, thank you Ali and Jimmy!

Boston has always been a special place for Shannon & Terry. Their very first date was at a Red Sox game, and when it came time to propose Terry popped the question on Swan Pond in the Boston Public Garden!  So it only made sense that they would have a destination wedding in Boston to celebrate their love for each other, and for this wonderful city.

We joined Shannon before the wedding as she got ready at The Harvard Club of Boston, before heading out to St. William’s Church in Tewksbury, MA for the ceremony. Shannon’s bridesmaids wore dark navy blue dresses with bright pink heels for a fun pop of color. Even Shannon herself switched between 3 different shoe styles throughout the day — two sparkly pink pairs of Kate Spades and a hot pink pair of boots for outdoor shots! After the ceremony we braved the cold and returned to Boston to get some photos in the Boston Public Garden, then headed back to the Harvard Club to start the party.

The wedding reception was a beautiful winter wonderland theme, with lots of white and silver accents throughout the decor — perfect for this time of year. Most of the wedding guests had traveled from out of town to celebrate this destination wedding in Boston with Shannon & Terry, and it was a perfect ending to a real Boston love story!

Congratulations Shannon & Terry, thank you for letting us be a part of your beautiful wedding celebration!

Winter was in the air at Jenn + Mike’s beautiful State Room Boston wedding. Look closely and you’ll find snowflakes everywhere in this wedding — and not just from the snow outside that Jenn was hoping for! The little winter details popped up on everything from the invitations to the bridesmaid’s earrings to the bride’s bouquet.

After getting ready at the InterContinental Boston and their first look, Jenn and Mike braved the snow outside to get some adorable pictures together before heading over to the State Room.

The ceremony took place in the State Room’s Harborside Room. Crystal snowflakes hung from the ceremony arch, and dangled from the floral arrangements and candles and white hydrangeas lined the isle. Following the ceremony, guests moved to the Cityside Room for cocktails. The room was beautifully decorated with white linens, pink and purple floral arrangements, and Boston themed escort cards featuring different T stops around the city.

While guests enjoyed cocktails, the Harborside Room was transformed into a beautiful winter reception space featuring gorgeous blue linens, silver chairs, and candlelit white centerpieces. By the time the evening was over, the city of Boston was covered in a sheet of white snow just as the bride and groom had been hoping for when they chose their winter wedding date.

Thank you to Jenn and Mike for having us capture your beautiful day, State Room Boston and the amazing team at Hopple Popple!

Person + Killian Photography kicked off the 2012 wedding season in style at the Ritz-Carlton, Boston Common for Caroline and David’s winter wedding.

Caroline and David knew they wanted to have their wedding in downtown Boston because they both love living there! They wanted the feeling of their day to be sophisticated and chic and went with black + white for their color scheme with accents of silver and purple.

After the bride and her bridesmaids got ready in one of the hotel’s beautiful suites overlooking the Boston Common, it was time for the first look. It was great capturing the excitement for the couple. Prior to the ceremony we spent some time with the bride and groom taking photos throughout the hotel and with their wedding party.

The ceremony took place at the Lindsey Chapel on nearby Newbury Street. Caroline and David both love music so they personalized their ceremony with a gospel choir and sting trio (as a surprise for their guests).

Following photos with the newlyweds and their wedding party outside the Boston Public Library and the Commonwealth Avenue Mall it was back to the Ritz where the celebration began. With the music of Soho, Caroline, David and their guests danced the night away.

Congratulations Caroline and David and thank you both for having us there to capture such a beautiful day!

As 2010 comes to a close, we wanted to share one more Person + Killian wedding from the end of this year. Sarah and Scott loved the Boston Harbor Hotel and knew it would be the perfect place to exchange their vows.

Both the ceremony and reception took place in the Wharf Room. The décor was inspired by the lights on Boston Harbor that can be seen from the room at night and the warmth of the holiday season.  Their wedding cake was simple and elegant — a white 3-teired cake topped with gorgeous red orchids for a pop of color. For the newlyweds, this was the perfect evening as they were “surrounded by family, close friends and the spirit of celebration”.

Below are just a few of our favorite photographs from the day. This was an amazing group of people and it was a pleasure capturing all of the emotional and fun-filled moments for such a wonderful couple.  Congratulations Sarah and Scott!
