What a lovely way to end the summer and begin fall by heading to Rhode Island to capture Colleen and Michael’s elegant oceanside Newport wedding. We love when our worlds collide with previous clients and fellow wedding industry colleagues. In this case, we had the pleasure of capturing Colleen’s sisters wedding back in 2013 and Michael’s father is the owner and founder of Russel Morin Fine Catering who, of course, catered the wedding!

Before heading off to Our Lady of Mercy Chapel, we started the day at the nearby Hyatt Regency on Goat Island. The women, dressed in navy, put their finishing touches on while the bride dressed in her Liancarlo gown and Jimmy Choo shoes. While the ladies were busy, the groom and groomsmen gathered nearby dressing in traditional black tuxes.

Greeting the guests at the chapel was a traditional bagpiper adding to the the celebratory feel just before they exchanged “I do’s”. After capturing some great formal photographs, we made our way to the reception tent at the Eisenhower House at Fort Adams State Park.

Located oceanside, the tent was simply spectacular. It had touches of blue and silvers accented with elegant chandeliers and billowing white fabric draped throughout. Romantic floral arrangements with natural elements and glowing tables anchored the guest tables. No detail overlooked, the food was absolutely amazing. As the evening progressed, the dance floor opened and the couple and their loved ones celebrated in to the night!

Congratulations again Colleen and Michael and thank you for letting Person + Killian be a part of your day!

Traveling all the way from sunny California, bubbly East Coast natives Morgan and Alex stuck to their roots and decided to tie the knot alongside spectacular New England views of the Boston Harbor. Defining the meaning of contagious smiles and laughter, Morgan and Alex chose the oceanside Hyatt Boston Harbor Hotel as the ideal venue for their modern, and cheerful ceremony.

Fresh meets bold with preppy pops of navy, green, and white décor under a tented reception complete with striking ocean views of the illuminated Boston skyline. Friends and family enjoyed a light and heartwarming ceremony and later celebrated with upbeat dancing, cornhole, lawn games, and plenty of laughter.

A special thanks to Michelle Schaufield and her team at The Day Of Event Coordination for creating such a joyous and memorable event. Congratulations to Morgan and Alex and thank you for letting us be a part of your special day. We wish you a lifetime of love happiness, and laughter!

On a warm September evening, we were thrilled to join Simin +  Nick at the bride’s family home to see their wedding inspiration come to life. The couples vision for their wedding was elegant, magical and romantic. An evening that has the look and feel of a Midsummer Night’s Dream, complete with a lush garden setting, twinkling lights and a star-filled sky.

With a beautiful blend of Persian and Jewish heritages, Simin and Nick had a sweet and touching ceremony. Simin’s family’s backyard magically transformed into soft palate of blush, ivory, and green creating an elegant backdrop for this gorgeous couple! An enchanting Sperry Tent was beautifully transformed by the incredible teams at Winston Flowers, Rentals Unlimited, and Simeral & Co. Guests enjoyed the live music of Sultans of Swing, including a beautiful rendition of the classic Ella Fitzgerald number, “Love is Here to Stay”, as Simin + Nick’s first dance. This beautiful couple celebrated their special day surrounded by loving family and friends.

Congratulations to Simin + Nick and thank you for putting your trust in us to document this extraordinary celebration of love!

It could not have been a more gorgeous weekend for Sarah + Tyler’s Little Compton, RI wedding! The entire celebration took place at the bride’s family home, from the morning preparation to the tented wedding reception in the evening.  Little Compton is a seaside town known for its sprawling acres of farmland beautiful stonewalls and sandy beaches. The wedding was located on Chace Point a private peninsula with its own private beach. The bride and groom chose to keep the bridal party very small, each of them had only their sister by their side throughout the day. The two beautiful bridesmaids wore lace dresses and all of the ladies carried classic white floral bouquets.

The late afternoon ceremony took place outside, and the weather could not have been better! An outdoor cocktail reception followed the I Do’s, before everyone moved inside the tent to kick off the party. The evening reception was held under a beautiful white sailcloth tent, overlooking the ocean and Rhode Island seaside. A mix of gray linen tables, wood, and mirror-tops made for a really unique and contemporary reception. Lots of candle light made the tent glow as the sun started to set, and kept this beautiful affair feeling really warm and intimate throughout the night. We asked the bride and groom to describe their vision and inspiration for their wedding day, and here’s what they had to say!

We have designed our wedding with the setting at the forefront of our mind. Little Compton, and particularly our wedding venue, is a unique and special place with the stonewall wooden fence, lush greenery, gray rock beach, and sprawling ocean. Our wedding colors fit that setting with neutral tones of gray, green, white, and brown. Our wedding style also fits the setting… and us! We would describe it as classic and elegant, with contemporary touches. We will have candles and reflective mirrors on tables, specially designed orbs hanging from the tent ceiling, lanterns and shepherd hooks throughout the property, and fire pits between the tent and the water.

We were so happy to have been able to share this wedding weekend with such a wonderful couple. Congratulations Sarah + Tyler and thank you for choosing us to document such an important event!!!

We loved all the details of this beautiful tented summer wedding! The happy couple decided to have a wedding at home, surrounded by their closest friends and family. The entire event was planned and catered by the talented team at The Catered Affair and tented by Peterson Party Center – including a stunning ceremony tent, a cocktail tent, and a reception tent so exquisite it could have been a ballroom! We took advantage of the perfect summer weather and got some poolside photos with the bride, groom, and their family before the day’s events began.

The afternoon ceremony was held in a pale yellow and white tent on the property. The four open walls of the tent were draped with yellow linen, and the white ballroom chairs had soft yellow cushions to match. The aisle was lined with six towering custom made topiaries in sleek silver vases, and the front altar featured three large white panels with beautiful chains of soft yellow roses. A string quartet provided elegant background music for the romantic “I do”s.

Cocktail hour was set up in a round, open-sided tent in the backyard, and extended onto their beautiful stone patio. High and low cocktail tables were decorated with fun yellow and grey patterned linens, and topped with white and green floral arrangements. A fabulous raw bar was provided by The Catered Affair team, with large ice displays of shrimp and oysters for guests to enjoy before dinner.

The first thing you could see before entering the evening’s reception tent built over the tennis court was a stunning entrance way with greenery from top to bottom, designed by Marc Hall.  Once inside, the entrance space was lined with two long white tables displaying the escort cards and topped with beautiful arrangements of green ferns and white flowers. Two long mirrors and a stunning crystal chandelier made you forget you were in a tent altogether!

The reception tent itself was exquisite – the white fabric walls and ceilings were covered in soft pink and fuchsia lighting, and a custom white monogram was projected onto the dance floor surrounded by purple light. Patterned yellow linens were mixed with modern mirror-top tables, and paired with beautiful white ballroom chairs detailed with a textured back. A few large wing-back chairs and comfy white loveseats were interspersed throughout the tent, for a fun and eclectic atmosphere. The floral centerpieces featured soft white peonies with pops of bright yellow, large green ferns, and cascading white orchids. The tall arrangements were surrounded by smaller groups of white and yellow flowers, to really fill the table with color. The ceiling of the tent was hung with gorgeous crystal chandeliers, which provided a warm and glowing atmosphere for the night’s party.

Following the reception, the celebration moved back into the ceremony tent — which had been transformed into a fun and colorful after-party. The walls of yellow linen were replaced with a clear lining, and beautiful round chandeliers were hung over lounge area for guests to relax and enjoy the night. The tent popped with bright purple textured lighting and deep pink floral arrangements.

Everyone had a fantastic evening celebrating this day with the new bride and groom, and the newlyweds could not have been happier to be surrounded by all their friends, family, and loved ones for their one-of-a-kind summer wedding! Special thanks to the fantastic team at The Catered Affair for planning such a beautiful event. Congratulations to the happy couple!

We love summer weddings by the sea, and Teryl + Jake could not have picked a more perfect day for their beautiful summer wedding at Misselwood. The sweeping green lawns and ocean view made for a stunning location for this outdoor summer wedding and tented evening reception.

Teryl started the day at her family home in nearby Gloucester, getting ready with all of her bridesmaids. Her strapless wedding dress had a beautifully classic long train, which she accented with dangling chandelier earrings and her grandmother’s pearl headpiece. Jake and his groomsmen got ready for the big day at a local inn in Beverly — the couple did not want to see each other before Teryl walked down the aisle, so we got some quick pictures of the bride and groom separately before the ceremony began.

The outdoor wedding ceremony took place on the Misselwood lawn, right in front of the beautiful ocean coast. We loved the groom’s reaction when he finally saw his bride walking down the aisle — you could tell how happy he was to be seeing her! After the “I do”s, we got some great seaside wedding pictures with the happy newlywed’s and their bridal party. The bridesmaids wore beautiful blue dresses that were matched by the groomsmen’s ties — all the colors looked fantastic in front of the blue ocean! We kept Teryl + Jake a little bit longer to get some shots with just the two of them before heading into Misselwood’s reception tent.

The tent was beautifully lit with strings of lights and gold chandeliers, and all of the decor incorporated soft touches of white and purple. The table centerpieces included elegant submerged purple flowers topped with white candles, and even the classic white wedding cake was topped with purple and white summer blossoms. When Teryl and Jake cut their cake later in the evening, even the inside of the cake was revealed to be purple velvet! When the party started to kick off and the night of dancing began, the bride and groom ditched their wedding shoes for comfy pairs of blue and green converse — with “husband” and “wife” printed right on the back.

Congratulations Teryl + Jake on a beautiful summer wedding at Misselwood, and thank you for letting us be a part of your special day!

For the first weekend of summer, we traveled to historic Watch Hill, Rhode Island. The weekend of wedding events included a seaside ceremony, beautiful tented reception, and Sunday brunch the next day — all designed, catered, and executed by the amazing team of The Catered Affair.

All of the weekend’s events took place at a private residence in Watch Hill, with beautiful details incorporating bright summer colors, white and blue nautical elements, and touches of Irish heritage important to the family. Megan’s strapless white wedding gown was matched with a simple strand of white pearls, and she carried a bright bouquet of spring peonies. The colors of soft pink, tangerine, and deep cerise were brought into all the elements of the wedding from the ceremony to the brunch. Her hair was held with sparkling shamrock pins, and her veil was custom-made in Ireland with embroidered shamrock details. Even their dog (named Shamrock) wore a seersucker bow tie. Megan’s bridesmaids wore seersucker summer dresses in soft pastel colors, with bright summer sandals to match. Greg was dressed in a Navy suit with a white and blue striped tie. His groomsmen added a pop of color with their bright ties — matching perfectly to the bridesmaid dresses and color coordinated Sperry boat shoes to match.

We took Megan and Greg out onto the home’s balcony for their first look. After some pictures of the happy bride and groom, the couple exchanged gifts. For Megan, a diamond eternity ring and for Greg, a new wristwatch. Greg was shocked as the watch Megan had given him the day of their high-school graduation years ago actually stopped running that morning!

The beach was set up with classic white chairs, and beautiful floral arrangements right in front of the ocean. Lemonade spritzers were handed out as refreshments, and guests were invited to drop off their shoes at the designated Paddle-board “Shoe Check” and enjoy the ceremony barefoot. A station was even set-up for guests to rinse off the sand from their feet before heading back up to cocktails! Colorful bunches of pink and orange rose petals were handed out as guests took their seats, to throw at the big finale after Megan and Greg said “I do”.

Cocktail hour took place on the lawn outside the beautiful reception tent, with white garden chairs and colorful linens. The escort card table displayed three white seashells filled with sand and guests names on individual white sand dollars.

Next door to the main tent was a lounge tent for guests to enjoy throughout the evening, with a dark navy blue canopy covered in large white nautical stars. Soft white and blue furniture was scattered throughout the tent for comfortable seating, and a photo montage of Megan and Greg was played on a large screen for guests to enjoy all night.

The main reception tent from Sperry Tents was built in the house’s backyard directly over the swimming pool, with a custom made clear dance floor covering the water itself! Tan linens were topped with teal and navy blue charger plates for a great pop of color, and soft white china lanterns hung from the tent’s ceiling. The floral centerpieces were directly inspired by a piece of art painted by Greg’s mom for the couple’s wedding invitation.

As the sun started to set, the lanterns glowed in the tent and the trees outside were lit up with hanging lanterns.

Later in the evening, we were given a secret 5-minute warning from the Catered Affair team to bring Megan and Greg outside the tent for one last surprise. We set them up underneath the beautifully lit trees and took a couple pictures, before having them turn around just in time to see a spectacular fireworks show out on the water! It was a great way to kick off the dancing for the happy couple and all of their guests.

The reception tent was transformed on Sunday morning for the after-wedding brunch. The tan linens were replaced with bright tangerine and cerise linens, paired with pops of teal. Lounge furniture was available outside underneath the trees for guests to enjoy the beautiful summer weather, and we took a few minutes to get a couple of photos with Megan and Greg outside on the lawn.

Thank you to Megan, Greg and the whole family for hosting such a wonderful wedding weekend and inviting us to be a part of it. Special thanks to the fabulous team at The Catered Affair for being such a pleasure to work with as always and a big Congratulations to the newlyweds!

Hadley and Greg celebrated their beautiful late-summer wedding at the Castle Hill Inn in Newport, RI, and it was nothing short of picture perfect.

This Southern-raised bride and New England native groom were able to blend so many styles and traditions to make a unique and breathtaking wedding day that reflected their fun, care-free personalities. The Castle Hill’s location right on the Newport coast made for some great seaside pictures with the couple and their wedding party, including the  adorable pug Moxie!

The ceremony took place on the Castle Hill Lawn, under a wooden archway overlooking the water. The small amount of cloud cover that had been lingering all day parted just as Hadley made her way down the grass aisle, and gave a beautiful golden glow to the evening ceremony. Hadley carried a gorgeous pastel bouquet, with light pink, purple and ivory roses and just a pop of bright orange. After the ceremony as the sun was setting, we grabbed some great shots of the newlyweds in front of a classic New England lighthouse on the water’s edge.

The tented reception that followed had a completely different feeling. Hadley and Greg were inspired by black and ivory, Old Hollywood and classic Film Noir themes. Their custom “H&G” monogram appeared on napkins, cookies, menus and even atop their cake. Once the party really got going, Hadley changed out of her gown and into a white flapper-inspired cocktail dress to celebrate the night away with her new husband.

We had a blast sharing this day with such a fun and easy-going couple! Congratulations Hadley and Greg!

Recent newlyweds Alana and Andy were in search of a wedding venue that could incorporation the ideas and inspirations that they both loved.  The Estate at Moraine Farm was exactly what they were looking for. Located on 175 acres of conservation land and forest overlooking Whenham Lake, this unique North Shore location offers farm to table catering by Fireside Catering that fit perfectly with the rustic look and feel the couple was going for.

Alana loves the website Style Me Pretty and used it to add some unique ideas to personalize this historic Beverly property including custom chalkboard signs, burlap accents on the bouquets and cocktail tables. When guests arrived, they were treated to a pre-ceremony cocktail hour that included refreshing drinks from mason jars.

Place cards were created on personalized packets of seeds of various herbs and spices (which were also used for the table names). For the reception under the tent, chalkboard signs were also used for the menus at each table at the reception along with homemade sweet jams made by sister property Gibbet Hill Farm for the favors.  The colors peach, green and graphite and gray were chosen by the couple and used in the bouquets, centerpieces and attire and worked perfectly with the natural surroundings.

Before the perfect evening celebration concluded, the couple exited the estate and boarded the trolley through a tunnel of their guest with sparklers. So fun! Congratulations Alana and Andy! We loved capturing such a fun and inspired wedding for you and your families.

It was a perfect summer day at the Willowdale Estate in Topsfield, MA for Denisa and Michael’s wedding. The mansion provided the perfect backdrop for the couple and their wedding party to get ready. After the first look we had the opportunity to take advantage of the outdoor spaces throughout the property including the rolling hill that overlooks the Ipswich River for some formal photos.

Denisa and Michael had envisioned a garden wedding with colors of white, navy and pops of bright green. The courtyard of the estate provided just that for the ceremony. Family members of the bride custom built the ceremony arch out of Vermont birch for the occasion (as well as the escort card placeholders).

The reception was a fun and energy filled evening with a mix of both the bride and groom’s heritage. Denisa, whose family traveled from around the globe including Greece and Albania for the celebration danced to some Albanian circle dancing following the Hora to incorporate Michael’s Jewish traditions.

Thank you and Congratulations Denisa and Michael. We had a great time capturing such a beautiful and fun day for you!

Following the ceremony and a few formal photos of the newlyweds we headed to the tent for the reception.

We love the personal touches the couple incorporated including their own version of Katie and Ben Mad Libs and customized cupcakes.
