For this week’s Boston Venue Spotlight we are thrilled to be showcasing the exquisite Boston Public Library with The Catered Affair. Founded in 1848, boasting stunning architecture and European charm, it’s no surprise The Boston Public Library has been featured in Best Venues in America. We have photographed show-stopping weddings at the Boston Public Library and consider ourselves pretty lucky that one of our country’s most historic and unique wedding venues is in our very own backyard!

When planning a wedding at the Boston Public Library there are several elegant spaces that will match any wedding style or inspiration.  The Abbey Room was designed after a palace in Venice and is chock-full of elegant details including rich wood paneling, full size murals, dramatic high ceilings, and marble fireplace. The Guastavino Room is ideal for those seeking a light and airy feel. Perfect for seated dinner receptions, this space boasts remarkable ceilings and columns with a slightly more modern touch. Ideal for cocktail receptions and cake cutting is the Chavannes Gallery. This space is adorned with wall murals and has an incredible view of the Boston Public Library’s grand marble staircase, which makes for some of our favorite photographs! Bates Hall, known as one of the main rooms of the library, is perfect for our newlyweds-to-be with a larger wedding. It showcases impressive domed ceilings and has fifteen windows overlooking Copley Square. Last but certainly not least, is the Boston Public Library’s lush and romantic Courtyard. Is there really anything more beautiful than be married in an outdoor courtyard beside a softly illuminated fountain with your guests nestled under the archways?

The Catered Affair, a full-service catering and event planning company, is yet another perk to choosing The Boston Public Library as your wedding venue. From passed hour-devours, full seated dinners to jaw-dropping dessert bars, The Catered affair will stun you and your guests with incredibly creative and mouthwatering cuisine that truly tastes as good as it looks.

Whether you’re wedding is large or small, summer or winter, the Boston Public Library and the Catered Affair offer endless beauty and versatility! Check out why we love photographing weddings at this historic and beautiful Boston venue in some of our 2015 wedding photography featured below:

When Ashley + Justin were looking for a venue for their dream Cape Cod wedding, they knew to look no further than the Ocean Edge Resort in Brewster. This sweet couple met many years ago while working at the resort, and it seemed only fitting that it serve as home to their “Best Day Ever”!

Spending the morning with Ashley + Justin as they prepared for the ceremony, we could feel the excitement in the air. The morning culminated in an emotional and sweet first look on the terrace of the Victorian-style mansion at Ocean Edge.

The beautiful ceremony took place down by the ocean, in front of a creative arch made from two doors finished with a coastal Cape Cod whitewash, and adorned with blush pink flowers. Justin was a dapper groom, in a navy suit, awaiting his bride. Ashley was stunning in her gown, with its intricate lace and delicate rose gold accents. Beachside formal photos followed, and we were thrilled to be able to capture the joy felt by the newlyweds and their wedding party.

Fun accents of gold and settings of navy and blush were a theme throughout the elegant tented wedding reception, including unique place cards  of Moet Hennesey’s limited edition summer champagne split that doubled as favors for the guests. The cake, by the Casual Gourmet, featured gold champagne bubble accents, and a unique topper announcing that the day, as Ashley and Justin had hoped, truly had been the “Best Day Ever!”. After dancing and celebrating, a visit by the traditional Cape Cod Good Times ice cream truck was a welcome sight, and a creative addition to this night to remember.

Congratulations Ashley and Justin! Thank you for choosing Person + Killian to document your celebration.

We are always thrilled to visit the Boston Harbor Hotel, a venue famous for its elegant affairs, and we were happy to join Jacqueline and Andrew there this past weekend for their wedding. With the couple adding their own nautical twists to the occasion, their lovely and lively celebration was a day to remember.

Jacqueline was stunning from head to toe in her Haley Paige designed dress, selected from Kleinfeld’s in New York, a cathedral length veil, as well as Jimmy Choo heels.  Her bridesmaids were all in a bright ocean blue, really helping to bring out the nautical theme. Hand-picked details abounded, from the embroidery on Jaqueline’s grandfather’s handkerchief, to the elaborate chalk art illustrating their love story, and the elegant three-tier wedding cake.

Cocktail hour was held on the famed Rotunda of the hotel, with its breathtaking views of ships moving about the Harbor and the Boston city skyline.  The bride and groom welcomed their guests into the ballroom, adorned with fresh flowers and gold accents, to dance the night away — with such an upbeat crowd, it was a more than energetic reception!

Thank you to Michael Bovin and his team at the Boston Harbor Hotel for being such a pleasure to work with as always. Congratulations Jacqueline and Andrew – thank you for choosing us to document your wonderful day!

Rachel and Mark were looking for a rustic venue for their wedding that was out of the city and chose picturesque Stonewall Farm in Keene, New Hampshire. The town made for a perfect get away weekend for the couple and their guests.

The venue, an actual working organic farm in Southern New Hampshire, was incredibly scenic and did not call for too much embellishment. Instead, the bride and groom supplied DIY touches, that included the escort cards, favors and signs throughout the sprawling property.  Tones of violet and slate enhanced the rustic setting while keeping the proceedings fun and vibrant.

Following dinner we had the chance to spend a few minutes outside for some night photos with the couple. The post and beam barn, illuminated with a warm glow from within that provided the perfect backdrop.

Congratulations Rachel and Mark and thank you for being so wonderful to capture on your beautiful wedding day!

Winter may be here, but it’s all about Spring in the most recent issue of The Knot New England magazine! We were so excited to open up the pages to find Lauren and Marc’s bright and elegant 2014 wedding. The bride and groom transformed the offices at Meditech into a picturesque venue for their celebration.

“We knew that a lot of people who were unfamiliar with Meditech would think, ‘an office building- really?” says Lauren. “But I wanted the feeling of an outdoor wedding without having to worry about the weather.” They took advantage of the indoor atrium- complete with a fountain, pergola and palm trees- for their sun-filled ceremony. “I was totally inspired by the feeling of a garden,” says Lauren. “Flowers were my most important design element.” Rows of hydrangeas, roses, and succulents were punctuated by tall vases full of cherry blossom branches for a dramatic reception look. In addition to being beautiful Meditech was a sentimental choice for the couple. Lauren’s father is the CEO of the company, having worked up from an entry level position over the course of 40 years.

When we were asked last year if we would photograph the wedding of our dear industry friend and colleague Cortney  (one of the amazing Catering Sales Managers at the Boston Harbor Hotel) we were truly honored and knew her day would be spectacular. Cortney and Gregg celebrated their classic and elegant New England wedding this fall on the North Shore in Gloucester.

Cortney and Gregg met for their first look at the scenic Stage Fort Park before heading to their ceremony and reception at the ocean-side Cruiseport. Guests arrived to the ceremony filled with candlelight, an isle lined with white orchids and hydrangeas, roaring fireplace and musical trio. The couple incorporated Cortney’s Greek heritage into the ceremony with the traditional crowing ceremony.

For their reception, the seaside ballroom was transformed by Lotus Floral Events with hundreds of candles, lush white flower arrangements and an array of crystal vases atop lilac linens on both square and round tables. We loved the surprise addition of the grooms cake as Greg is a race car driver. Guests were welcomed in to the warm and stunning space with the music of the Kahootz band who kept the energetic group on their feet for the evening.

Congratulations Cortney and Gregg and thank you for choosing us to capture such a special and gorgeous celebration for you both!

We always adore photographing events at the Four Seasons Hotel Boston weather it be a social event or corporate event. Recently we were asked to capture the beautiful new renovations throughout the venue, including the classic yet modern new touches in their stunning ballroom.

From the team at the Four Seasons“We recently completed renovations to the Ballroom, Phillips and Stuart. New prospective clients were invited to come “Get the Scoop” and see the newly renovated spaces as well as our renovated guestroom bathrooms.  Guests were taken on personal tours of all of our event space and concluded in a  “Parisian Patisserie” where guests could help themselves to creme glacee and crepes!”

Below are a handful of images of the updated spaces that we wanted to share!

We were so lucky to get to spend the day with Frank, Michelle and their beautiful family last weekend for their spring wedding at the Revere Hotel right in downtown Boston. Michelle and Frank had the honor of being the very first wedding to take place in the Revere Hotel’s Space 57!

We spent the afternoon with the couple getting ready at their brownstone home in Boston’s South End. The roof deck above their house was a perfect place for some photos of the couple, with a breathtaking view of Boston as the background!

We walked to a nearby park for formal wedding pictures with Michelle, Frank, and their wedding party — which included their four wonderful children — and the warm, sunny spring weather held out all afternoon.

Before heading off to the ceremony, Michelle, Frank, and the kids wanted to stop for a few minutes in the street’s crosswalk for some classic “Abby Road” shots! We snapped a few more pictures outside the brownstone with the family before heading into The Revere Hotel for the wedding.

The ceremony took place on the upper level of Space 57, the hotel’s new function and event venue. The decor was clean and elegant, with clear ghost chairs for guests and large white branch arrangements on either side of the altar.

After the ceremony, guests were moved into the outer foyer for cocktails while Space 57 was transformed for the reception. MAX Ultimate Food not only provided all of the catering, but planned the entire event from the ground up. Guests enjoyed beautiful passed hors d’oeuvres like mini spring rolls, and push-up caprese salads.

The normally black Space 57 was transformed into a stunning reception space, with ghost ballroom chairs and clear table tops. Towering floral centerpieces from Carlos Colon of Columbine Floral stood out in beautiful white vases. A textured lighting pattern from Suzanne B. Lowell filled the entire space, with towers of purple uplighting surrounding the walls. The team at MAX Ultimate even brought in a custom chandelier to hang over the black dance floor.

After an evening of dancing to the sounds of Beantown and celebrating this wonderful couple, trays of mini desserts were served as late night snacks. We adored working with this couple, and getting the chance to meet all of their friends and family. Congratulations Michelle and Frank, thank you for letting us be a part of your fun and glamorous wedding day!

We love every opportunity to photography at Boston’s Omni Parker House and recently had the pleasure of being there again for Christina and Ben’s wedding day! Prior to the ceremony Christina and her bridesmaids got ready in the beautiful Parker Suite of the hotel. From there we headed downstairs to the Press Room where the couple exchanged vows and took some time for a few photos.

With the Omni Parker House being located across the street from the picturesque Old City Hall and the unbelievably warm weather, the newlyweds were definitely up for some outdoor photos.  Before joining their guests at cocktail hour we stopped to capture a few classic images in the lobby of the hotel.

The reception took place in the rooftop ballroom. Christina, Ben and their guests had a blast dancing to the entertainment of DJ Mike Amado. Congratulations to Christina + Ben and thank you both for being so great to work with and trusting us to capture such a special day in your lives!

A couple of weeks ago, Person + Killian Photography had the opportunity to team up with a talented group of fellow Boston companies in the wedding and event industry for a commercial photography photoshoot at Grill 23 & Bar.

Grill 23 has been voted Best of Boston in 2010 by both The Improper Bostonian and Boston Magazine and has been called one of the top 10 steak houses in the country by magazines nation wide. It was a pleasure to be asked to team up for a photoshoot that shows off the beautiful spaces that can hold the perfect intimate wedding, rehearsal dinner or private event. We were able to utilize all of the great spots throughout the venue, including the Corinthian columns, mahogany paneling and great textures in all of the the private dining rooms that have great views of the Back Bay.  We also got to photograph in The Wine Room (a great spot for an intimate dinner party).

Thank you to the fantastic team that helped make this shoot a tremendous success and to Grill 23 for thinking of us to come on board. Below are just a small handful of our favorite photos from the day.

The rooms were filled with beautiful flower arrangements from Tangerine Creations, complimenting linens by Rentals Unlimited and uplighting by Groove Entertainment & Lighting for an extra little pop of color. We even had a live band for the afternoon provided by Entertainment Specialists!

Marketing to the High-End Bride Workshop | State Room Boston Event

Marketing to the High-End Bride is produced by Arlene Cronk, owner of Invitations & Company, a social stationery boutique in Boston’s Beacon Hill neighborhood since 1991.  Held each spring and fall, the Marketing to the High-End Bride event is designed exclusively for upscale wedding professionals looking to reach their business goals in the most highly-competitive segment of the market.  The event format — a breakfast and panel discussion held every six months at a luxury Boston venue — is an alternative to the more structured forums of the typical professional association.  As such, it is designed specifically in both format and content to fit the intense work style and sophisticated informational needs of the high-end professional.  March 2011 marks the 11th Marketing to the High-End Bride. –

We were thrilled that Arlene asked Person + Killian Photography to be the photography sponsor of this fantastic event. Over 170 wedding and event professionals came out Thursday morning to Boston’s State Room. After an hour of networking in the Harborside Room, everyone entered the Great Room for a panel discussion on celebrity weddings. The panel included 5 experts including planner Kate Parker and Gary Sloper from the Boston Harbor Hotel. The decor was designed by Heather Minicucci of Simply Inviting Weddings with fantastic yellow spring floral designs by Tangerine Creations and gray linens from Rentals Unlimited.

Yesterday the Omni Parker House Boston hosted the 10th Anniversary of their “Brides of Distinction” Bridal Brunch and Fashion Show and Person + Killian Photography was thrilled to be a part of it.

Each year, this event helps Boston brides plan the perfect wedding. The elegant and historic Omni Parker House provides the perfect backdrop and a chance for brides to visit with wedding vendors as well.

Jenny Johnson from TV Diner made a special guest appearance and an editor from The Knot talked about the latest wedding trends. Brides viewed elegant bridal gowns and bridesmaid dresses during brunch in the Rooftop Ballroom that was set up with beautiful linens and lavish floral designs for all seasons.

A big thank you to the Omni Parker House for inviting us to be a part of this fantastic event.
