Jamie and Ben wanted their beautiful Boston wedding to be classic, modern, and feel like an elegant and glamorous party for all of their friends and family to enjoy! They chose traditional colors of black and white, and had a fantastic team of local Boston wedding professionals to help bring their vision to life. They chose the Mandarin Oriental Boston right in the heart of Boston’s Back Bay for the days events — the perfect venue for everything from the morning preparations through to the after party.

We started the morning with Jamie and her bridesmaids as they got ready for the big day at the Mandarin Oriental Boston. Each bridesmaid (plus Jamie and Ben’s moms) had a personalized white bathrobe embroidered with their initials. The ladies helped Jamie button up into her beautiful Judd Waddell wedding gown. The Mandarin Oriental’s outdoor garden was the perfect location to have their traditional first look. We also spent some time inside with Jamie + Ben, getting a few pre-wedding photos in the Mandarin Oriental Boston’s many beautiful indoor spaces, before being joined by close friends and family for formals.

Jamie + Ben signed their wedding Ketubah, before beginning the wedding ceremony in the Mandarin Oriental Boston Ballroom. William Mizuta Private Florist provided the gorgeous chuppah that the happy couple were married under, wrapped in white fabric and accented with beautiful white flowers.  Jamie + Ben wanted to pay homage to the Mandarin Oriental’s Asian influences during their cocktail hour, so guests enjoyed a fabulous sushi station manned by a live sushi chef as part of their hors d’oeuvres!

The Mandarin Oriental Boston Ballroom was transformed into a gorgeous reception space. The decor complimented the Ballroom’s natural golden light, with a mix of submerged florals and beautiful white arrangements illuminated by candle light on each of the tabletops. The golden ballroom chairs were matched with textured golden charger plates, and the white chuppah remained in the corner to house the stunning  four-tiered black and white wedding cake. The party kicked off with the first dance and traditional Hora, and DJ Mike Amado kept everyone dancing all night!

Special thanks to Jamie + Ben for sharing your beautiful wedding day with us, and to the entire team at the Mandarin Oriental Boston for a flawless (and fun!) event. Congratulations!

We loved the way Shannon and Marc tied in so many personal details, and still made their evening traditional and elegant at their beautiful summer Ipswich wedding at The Crane Estate. Their outdoor summer wedding incorporated classic colors of black and white throughout the decor, and included their love of books, reading, and particularly their favorite book — The Never Ending Story.

Shannon and her bridal party started the day at her mother’s home on the North Shore, with hair, makeup, and all the dresses for the day. Shannon’s strapless white wedding gown was paired with a cute pair of black heels, to match her bridesmaid’s adorable black dresses. Her beautiful bouquet of white calla lilies was accented with black fabric and pinned with small white pearls. We headed out to The Crane Estate on Castle Hill to meet up with Marc and the groomsmen, and the bride and groom had their first look in the beautiful gardens on the property.

We took some time with the bride, groom, and bridal party to get some formal shots all over The Crane Estate’s stunning property, before the outdoor ceremony on the Great Lawn. Shannon and Marc said their I dos under a beautiful white pillared altar, covered in soft green and white summer flowers designed by florist William Mizuta. Cocktails were set up outside on the patio, and an exquisite wooden library reference card cabinet served as the escort table inside the Great House. Shannon and Marc shared the same favorite book growing up — The Never Ending Story — and their love of books and reading was evident in their wedding. Guests could find their name and table number in the alphabetized reference card drawers, and beautiful decorative accents were carved out of the pages of books throughout the decor. A huge open book showing The Never Ending Story’s opening page was even displayed in The Great House, with elegant silver page decorations perfect for a wedding.

The outdoor tented reception was stunning and elegant, with towering white flower arrangements of roses and orchids on each table, and sheer white fabric covering the chairs. The table numbers were printed on actual pages from The Never Ending Story, and the symbol of two intertwined serpents from the book was printed on each menu card. After enjoying dinner, toasts, and some dancing outside in the tent — the happy newlyweds and their guests moved back into the Great House for their first dance and dessert service, including a make-your-own crepe bar! It was a perfect ending to a fantastic Ipswich wedding at The Crane Estate.

Congratulations Shannon and Marc on your beautiful evening, we were so happy to share these moments with you!

We had a blast ringing in 2013 at Allie and Joe’s InterContinental Hotel Boston Wedding this New Year’s Eve! What better time to be surrounded by your friends and family and throw a great celebration than on the last night of the year.

Allie and Joe definitely knew how to throw a great party, with classic colors of black, white and silver popping up throughout the decor for a fun and festive New Year’s Eve theme wedding. After getting ready in the rooms of the InterContinental, the bride, groom, and guests headed to the gorgeous Our Lady Comforter of the Afflicted Church in Waltham for the ceremony. The church was gorgeous, with surrounding stained glass and soft candlelight creating the perfect atmosphere for an evening winter wedding.

Before heading into the InterContinental‘s fabulous Rose Kennedy Ballroom for the party to begin, guests enjoyed cocktails in the foyer. New Year’s hats and customized glasses were passed out in preparation for the big countdown and guests were serenaded by the North Shore Acappella group. The Ballroom itself was stunning — silver linens topped with white floral centerpieces by William Mizuta, white dance floor, and custom lighting by Suzanne B. Lowell including an “A” and “J” monogram.

After all the formalities of the wedding were underway, it was time for the New Year’s Party to begin! The dessert buffet opened as soon as the midnight countdown had finished, and Allie and Joe welcomed 2013 with a great celebration. Thank you both for a wonderful New Year’s Eve, we had so much fun sharing this night with you!

Emily and Dustin celebrated their Mandarin Oriental Boston wedding on a beautiful (and blustery!) day right in downtown Boston’s Back Bay neighborhood.

The couple took advantage of the great outdoor space, having their traditional “first look” in the Mandarin’s Courtyard. We were able to get some great photographs with the bride and groom outside, despite all the wind, before moving inside the hotel for some formals.

The couple had a beautiful traditional Jewish ceremony, followed by a stunning reception in the Mandarin’s ballroom. Emily & Dustin’s wedding was classic, traditional, and very elegant — a simple color palette of steel grey and white was made very warm and intimate with lots of soft lighting, giving the room a candlelit glow. As always Florist William Mizuta designed gorgeous arrangements for the event and each table was accented with warm pinspot lighting, thanks to the team at Suzanne B. Lowell Lighting. We loved being able to capture this great couple on their wedding day, congratulations Emily and Dustin and thank you for choosing Person + Killian Photography!

Another beautiful Taj Boston wedding!

Sarah and Evan celebrated their special day at the always gorgeous Taj Boston surrounded by friends, family, and loved ones. We arrived just as the beautiful bride was getting the finishing touches on her hair and makeup, and as soon as the wedding gown was on we headed outside for some photos in the Boston Public Garden. The ladies looked classic and elegant in champagne colored bridesmaid dresses, and all three carried gorgeous white bouquets from William Mizuta Private Florist.

The couple chose not to see each other before the ceremony started, so as soon as everyone was ready to go it was off to the Arlington Street Church (conveniently located just a few blocks away) to start the wedding. We made it in just in time, by the time the ceremony was over rain moved in. While the guests headed back to the Taj to start the cocktail hour, we took advantage of the empty (and dry!) church to snap some pictures with the happy newlyweds. They eventually braved the rain, armed with an umbrella, to head back to the Taj for a few more pictures before the evening party began.

The Taj Ballroom was simply elegant — the couple wanted to keep it classic, romantic, and traditional. White, ivory, and subtle champagne colors filled the room, with beautiful gold linens adding flashes of bright color to the space. The beautifully classic white wedding cake held a special personal touch to the couple, it was topped with the very same cake-topper Sarah’s parents had at their wedding! There was no doubt about it that this was a crowd that was ready to celebrate all night, the dance floor was always packed and everyone (bride and groom included!) was certainly going to make this a party to remember.

Congratulations Sarah and Evan, it was such a pleasure working with you and your entire family!

Person + Killian Photography was thrilled to celebrate yet another gorgeous wedding at the Fairmont Copley Plaza in the heart of downtown Boston this weekend with newlyweds Michelle and Eric.

As soon as the couple saw the Fairmont Copley they knew it would be the perfect venue for their Boston wedding. It was especially important that their friends and family who had traveled from out-of-town be a part of the celebration; there’s no better place to see historic Boston than from the center of Copley Square!

The Grand Ballroom’s detailed and extravagant architecture provided the perfect backdrop for the beautiful floral arrangements by florist William Mizuta, and all of the decor for the evening included touches of Michelle’s favorite color — purple.

Following the beautiful Jewish ceremony on-site at the Fairmont, guests danced the night away with help of the band Night Shift , and indulged their sweet tooth at a custom candy bar. A celebratory Hora and night of dancing made this evening extra special for Michelle, Eric, and all of their loved ones.

Congratulations Michelle and Eric, and thank you for letting us be a part of your beautiful spring wedding in Boston!

Person + Killian Photography recently photographed the Four Seasons Boston wedding of Amy and Sean and we had a blast with the couple from the get-go when we arrived. It was a fantastic family celebration for the bride and groom who call both Boston and San Fransisco home.

Both Amy and Sean grew up around Boston and met after moving back from college. Amy had promised herself she would move to San Fransisco after college and was set on it. But, then she met Sean and they were having such a good time together she kept putting off the move. Finally she decided to had to go. Sean, told Amy’s dad and the rest of their families that “wherever Amy goes, I go”, sold his car, packed a bag and made the 3,000 mile trek across the country. The couple have spent the last few years living in San Fransisco together but both have a special place in their hearts for Boston so they knew it was the perfect place for their wedding. We love that Amy told us “Since Sean moved to San Fransisco for me, he gets the “next move” and wherever Sean goes , I go! And, I know I will be happy anywhere!”

The colors of the day were navy blue and coral with flowers in romantic shades of apricot and coral and accented with soft whites and creams. The couple also incorporated their Celtic Knot throughout their stationary, save the dates and continued through the ceremony program and escort cards. Even the candy bar at the end of the night was designed with various shades of navy and coral/peach.

Since Amy and Sean are honeymooning in Italy, they created a Prosecco Bar for cocktail hour, Caprese salad and handmade ravioli for the first course of dinner.

Ryan & Chris hired some of Boston’s best wedding vendors to put together a beautiful elegant wedding that had a classic & romantic feel. Taj Boston was the perfect venue to host this intimate affair and Person + Killian Photography was delighted to be there!

When we asked Ryan to described the details of her day she said the following:

Chris and I are going for a classical romantic elegant look and feel to our wedding day. The bridesmaids will be in black, short dresses and the groomsmen in tuxes. Our flowers will be shades of white. Since most of our guests will be traveling to Boston from out of town, we have incorporated the old Bostonian look and feel throughout the weekend. Starting with the rehearsal dinner in the Library Room of the Hampshire House, carrying through to the cocktail hour where we will be having freshly shucked local oysters. We are taking out many of the traditional elements of a wedding and making it more of a party for all!

Some of the traditions they changed up a bit were really cute! Her father introduced the couple for the first time and the bride and groom introduced the entire wedding party! Also, Ryan’s last minute something blue was her bridesmaid’s all initialing the bottom of her Jimmy Choo in blue marker!

A big thank to Ryan and Chris for choosing Person + Killian Photography to document this beautiful Boston Wedding!
