Alyssa and Ryan chose the Mandarin Oriental Hotel Boston to celebrate their wedding day this January. We started off the afternoon with Alyssa and her bridesmaids who got ready at the hotel while Ryan and his groomsmen walked over to The Art of Shaving on Newbury Street for old fashioned shaves. The bride and groom opted for their first look on the grand staircase. A little cold was not going to stop the couple from heading over to the Commonwealth Avenue Mall for a few photographs before meeting up with the wedding party for formal photos around the hotel. We love that the Mandarin has so many great locations for photos and were able to utilize several of these spaces with the couple prior to their ceremony.

Before walking down the isle, the couple signed the Ketubah alongside immediate family and wedding party. Following the traditional Jewish ceremony that took place in the ballroom, the newlyweds and their guests enjoyed cocktail hour while the room was transformed. Alyssa and Ryan wanted their wedding to reflect the look and style of the venue with a wintery feel. Navy, silver, gold and ivory colors were used throughout the various decor along with candle light and white centerpieces.

Before the couple could even be introduced, Beantown had all of the guests up on their feet dancing. Following the first dance, hora and toasts, the band got everyone back up dancing for the rest of the evening celebration. A big congratulations to Alyssa and Ryan and thank you for being so much fun to work with on your beautiful wedding day and to the amazing team at the Mandarin for always being so fantastic to work with!

Weddings are always a reason to celebrate, so what better day to tie the knot than New Year’s Eve? We absolutely loved welcoming in 2015 with Juliette and Noah’s New Years Eve Winter Wedding at the Ritz-Carlton Boston Common. We met up with the couple as they got ready at the Ritz before heading over to Cambridge for the ceremony in Harvard Yard.

The Harvard Memorial Church was the perfect venue for Juliette and Noah’s ceremony because they both attended Harvard for grad school. The couple also chose to not see each other until Juliette walked down the aisle which made for a very emotional ceremony.  The floral arrangements and lanterns from Winston Flowers added a special touch.

After the ceremony everyone headed back to the Ritz for the cocktail hour and reception. They enjoyed toasts from their loved ones and celebrated all night into 2015! There were even fireworks just outside the windows, illuminating the dark night sky. This was such a fun way to ring in the New Year and to celebrate such a special day for Juliette and Noah.

A big thank you to the team at the Ritz-Carlton, Boston Common and Congratulations again Juliette and Noah!

This holiday season we had the pleasure of photographing the Royal Sonesta Boston winter wedding of Emily and Marc. Following their first look in hotel, we headed outside for photos of the couple along the Charles River. Even in the winter, the view of the city  makes for a picture perfect backdrop overlooking the Boston skyline.

After spending some time with the couple and their wedding party, we headed back inside the Royal Sonesta for the fun and emotional Ketubah signing followed by their traditional Jewish ceremony. The Ballroom was transformed into the perfect and intimate setting by Carol Silverston’s lighting, decor and florals.

When we asked the couple what was important to them on their wedding day they mentioned laughter, celebration and excitement with their closest family and friends as the most important elements of the day. That was exactly the day they had from the getting ready through the end of the evening. Emily chose the color gold as the focal point for the decor, and their beautiful reception was glowing with warm lighting, gold linens and candles, and a sense of holiday spirit. The couple shared their first dance and an energetic hora before enjoying heartfelt toasts and an evening celebration of dancing with their friends and family.

As always, a big thank you to the fantastic team at the Royal Sonesta and to Carol Silverston, Jodi Raphael and their team for always creating such a beautiful atmosphere for us to capture. Congratulations Emily and Marc and thank you for being so fun to work with throughout your beautiful wedding day!

Laura and Matthew described their wedding as a “romantic winter wonderland”. Surrounded by their closest friends and family and with the help of a fantastic team of Boston wedding professionals, their beautiful Fairmont Copley Plaza Boston wedding turned out to be the perfect winter wonderland they always hoped for.

We began the afternoon with Laura and her  bridesmaids in their suite at the Fairmont Copley Plaza Boston while Matt and his groomsmen were prepping for the day at the bride and groom’s home nearby. Following the emotional first look we headed outside with the couple for photographs in front of the hotel in Copley Square. The wedding party and family then joined Laura and Matt both inside and outside for formals prior to the ceremony.

The evening ceremony took place in the Grand Ballroom. In keeping with the winter wonderland look,  silver and white chairs, iced white branches with small bunches of white flowers and candles of all shapes and sizes surrounded the ballroom isle and ceremony area. The nuptials concluded with the Jewish tradition of the glass breaking.

While guests enjoyed cocktail hour, the Grand Ballroom was transformed into the winter wonderland wedding reception that Laura and Matt had envisioned. White linen topped with silver runners gave the room a wintery feel, along with white floral centerpieces enhanced with faux snow and silver table numbers tied in perfectly with silver chiavari chairs. Everyone was so happy to be celebrating this perfect day with Laura and Matthew. Following their first dance, toasts and cake cutting on the balcony, the party kicked off and the dance floor was packed all night.

A special thanks to Tracey Gavin and the entire team at the Fairmont Copley Plaza Boston and to Laura + Matthew for sharing your special day with us. Congratulations!

Last weekend we were back at the beautiful Boston Harbor Hotel for the winter wedding of Sheila and Bob. Both the ceremony and reception took place in the Atlantic Room. During cocktail hour, we had the opportunity to take the bride and groom outside for some formal photographs with the gorgeous blue night sky and scenery.

We asked the newlyweds to describe their wedding to us and this is what they had to say: “Our wedding is an elegant, mature, intimate affair. The guest list consists of family and close friends. This is both of our 2nd weddings and we feel so blessed to have this 2nd chance at life long happiness. We are so lucky to have each other and this wedding is the perfect expression of our love.”

Congratulations Sheila and Bob and thank you both for reaching out to Person + Killian Photography to capture such an intimate and special celebration (and for having such a fun, non-stop dancing group that was an absolute blast to photograph)!

It’s only fitting that Person + Killian Photography got to ring in the New Year at a winter wedding at the Fairmont Copley Plaza! And, on top of that, we were with one of the sweetest couples, Lauren + Chris!

Lauren looked amazing in her wedding gown, which she paired with a birdcage veil, chunky necklace, black beaded belt and amazing jeweled black heals.

The bride and groom invited their closet friends and family to a small intimate, classic and beautiful wedding. The reception took place in the Fairmont Copley Plaza’s Oval Room and the colors throughout were black & white with touches of deep red.

Lauren + Chris incorporated small details into the night that really made the evening special.  For example, during their “first look” in the Fairmont’s Presidential Suite, the couple’s dog Rowan made a special appearance. The bride changed into her grandmothers wedding gown during cocktail hour and the signature drinks were all in honor of the dogs they love! The “Rowan” was a rye whiskey with Grand Marnier and maple syrup. The party was in full swing when the clock struck midnight and the crowd danced into the New Year with music from a Beatles cover band!

It was a wonderful night and we were honored to document this beautiful affair with such a sweet & loving couple. Congratulations Lauren + Chris and Happy New Year to all!

Brigitte & Nick had a beautiful winter wedding and Person + Killian Photography was delighted to be there to capture it! The small intimate affair started off with a ceremony at St. Ignatius Church in Chestnut Hill. Immediately after, guests made their way over to the stunning Winston Flowers & Garden Center in Newton.

The cocktail style reception was filled with chic and modern décor, stunning flowers, lighting and the impeccable catering and event design services of The Catered Affair.

A big thank you to Brigitte & Nick for choosing Person + Killian Photography to document this wonderful evening.

As 2010 comes to a close, we wanted to share one more Person + Killian wedding from the end of this year. Sarah and Scott loved the Boston Harbor Hotel and knew it would be the perfect place to exchange their vows.

Both the ceremony and reception took place in the Wharf Room. The décor was inspired by the lights on Boston Harbor that can be seen from the room at night and the warmth of the holiday season.  Their wedding cake was simple and elegant — a white 3-teired cake topped with gorgeous red orchids for a pop of color. For the newlyweds, this was the perfect evening as they were “surrounded by family, close friends and the spirit of celebration”.

Below are just a few of our favorite photographs from the day. This was an amazing group of people and it was a pleasure capturing all of the emotional and fun-filled moments for such a wonderful couple.  Congratulations Sarah and Scott!

The 2010 winter wedding season kicked off for Person + Killian Photography at the Taj Boston Hotel. Kelly and Gavin had a spectacular day starting with a morning at the Taj. The lovely couple, along with their closest friends and family, walked down Newbury Street to their ceremony at the always breath-taking Church of the Covenant.

After the ceremony, formal photos were taken at the Commonwealth Avenue Mall, which was illuminated by the white lights lining the Back Bay. Cocktail hour and an elegant dinner were followed by a night of dancing at Locke-Ober in downtown Boston.

Below are just a few images from their perfect wedding day.
